Four-time All-Ireland winner Ciara Trant and Team OTB's own Rachel Sheehan joined Ger and Colm on this morning's Off The Ball Breakfast. With the All-Ireland Ladies Senior Football Championship semi-finals to take place this Saturday evening, Ciara and Rachel broke down what we can expect from the two ties: Dublin vs Galway and Kerry vs Meath. The reigning champions Kerry are everyone's favourite to retain the Brendan Martin Cup, but Ciara is still not convinced they're playing like champions... as often as they ought to be, at least! Can Meath catch them this weekend? And in what is Dublin's first season post-Mick Bohan, how does Paul Casey have the team playing? Will they be able to avenge last year's result - Bohan's last game in charge - when Galway knocked Dublin out of the championship? It's the early 1900s and Brigid is restricted by straightlaced Irish society and a difficult stepmother, but her father is loving and supportive. She and her cousin Molly dream of life in Yankeeland, a.k.a. America, but only Brigid gets the chance once she's married, and a lifetime of correspondence follows. While Molly thrives back in Ireland, Brigid's dream of having a child leads to unexpected problems in a society that values women for their childbearing capabilities. With little to no help available for the problem of infertility, her mental health suffers. Irish author Lacy Fewer based this moving historical story on the letters she inherited from her great-aunt who emigrated in 1908. A new analysis of the supply and demand of GPs has warned of capacity constraints in areas of growing population in Dublin and its commuter towns in Cavan, Meath, Kildare, Louth, Westmeath and Wicklow. The paper 'General Practice in Ireland: An analysis of Supply and Demand' was published and produced by the Government's Economic and Evaluation Service at the Department of Health. The study identified 3,262 clinically active GPs in service in 2022. It found that 13% of GPs work at least 48 hours a week. It said that the workforce of GPs and GP practice nurses provide a reasonable level of coverage nationally, but some geographic areas have clear capacity constraints, often in areas of growing and ageing population. The paper also says that GP retirements in some areas of Clare, Mayo, Wexford, and other areas, put services at risk where there is no viable replacement of GPs. To discuss this further, Alan Morrissey was joined by Dr Michael Kelleher, Lahinch-based GP and IMO GP Committee Member.

Galway meet Meath this Sunday (29th June 2025) in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship quarter-final, looking to make back-to-back appearances in the All-Ireland semi-finals for the first time since they were last crowned champions in 2001. They beat the Royals 0-17 to 0-8 in the All-Ireland Final that year and currently lead the Leinster side 4-3 in their head-to-head. However, Meath won the last two meetings in qualifiers in 2007 and 2011. The Tribesmen will be strong favourites, but Meath have beaten Dublin and Kerry on their way to the final eight, and Robbie Brennan's team are looking to reach the final four for the first time since 2009. After the draw was made last Monday, Off The Ball's Tommy Rooney (from Meath) joined Galway Bay FM's John Morley and Ollie Turner on 'Galway Talks.' == Throw-in at Croke Park on Sunday is 1.45pm and we'll have LIVE coverage here on Galway Bay FM.
