In this week's episode - which is our last for 2 weeks (and for more mature listeners, not for little ears)... the lads are excited about being off on their holidays. Well, they're on a week off... PJ is working (doing a bit of acting) and Jim is confining himself to his castle - drawbridge up, moate full of guard hippos. This time they're (unsurprisingly) talking about the stuff you get up to on your time off, becoming a dad (VERY) late in life, the nightlife in Navan, the price of telly (and dodgy boxes), and being extra expressive for success! If you like what you hear here, tune into Radio Nova 100 for this pair of mad yolks: PJ Gallagher & Jim McCabe's radio show, "Morning Glory", every weekday from 6-10am.The IMRO Radio Award-winning show features news, sport, weather, traffic, competitions and craic every day, as well as the most seriously addictive music in town! Thanks to www.insuremycar.ieHear it across Ireland via the free Radio Nova app on Android & iPhone, online at www.nova.ie, via the Irish Radio Player, via your smart speaker (“Play Radio Nova”) on 100.3 FM in Dublin and Meath, on 100.5 FM in Kildare, on 95.7 FM in Wicklow, on 100.1 FM in Ballbriggan and on Virgin Media TV 937. #GloryDaze #MorningGlory #RadioNova #PJGallagher #JimMcCabe #SeriouslyAddictive
Tommy, James and Paddy are back for The Football Pod after another riveting weekend of Gaelic Football - and for perhaps the very first time in five seasons, there's a bit of friction between the lads - it may have a little bit of something to do with Meath.(00:30) - Weekend Winners & the losers: Derry, Mayo, Clare, Rossies.(11:00) - Wicklow beat Westmeath and shock everybody but Paddy.(16:00) - Meath beat Kerry - softness, respect, injuries - an edge on the pod.(32:00) - Galway survive, what can they do? (38:00) - Dublin's power players shine through.(48:00) - Conor Meyler's return, Stars of the weekend, Best two-pointers.(58:00) - All-Ireland preliminary quarter-finals: McGuinness' Donegal crusade. We've got a Members Football Pod coming for you later this week too where we'll look ahead to another quality weekend of action. Hear from Robbie Brennan, Eoghan Frayne, Conor Duke & Jordan Morris on full-time at Glenisk O'Connor Park in Tullamore after Meath beat Kerry on a scoreline of 1-22 to 0-16.After leading by 6 at the break, it was a disatrous start to the second half for Meath as Cathal Hickey picked up a black card just 15 seconds into the 2nd half for a cynical pull back following the throw-in. Dylan Geaney knocked over two in quick succession, but by the time Hickey returned, The Royals still held 5 point lead, at 16 points to 11. A pair of fine two pointers from Ruairi Kinsella & Conor Duke extended Meath's lead to 7 with just 15 to play. Not to long after Meath stalwart Bryan Menton goaled for the Royals to open up a 10 point lead, which proved to be unassailable. Meath will now have significant break before the All-Ireland quarter finals at Croke Park.Kerry on the other hand will have to settle for a home preliminary-quarter final next weekend.

In this week's Friday the 13th episode (once again designed for the more mature listener, and not for little ears)... it's 'that time of year' where PJ & Jim have to try to remember what good jokes got 'pumped through their hosepipe of hilarity' in the past year so they can decide what they'll submit as an entry for the radio awards. Also, in a listen back to the week that was on Morning Glory, they discuss Snoop Dogg's burger van, Father's Day presents, bad dad jokes, clever nicknames and whether they'd be fit to take over the institution that is Liveline! No one gave them much of a chance beforehand but Cork defied the odds and completed a stunning turnaround from a 16-point beating 20 days earlier to land the Munster title. The majority of Rebels were travelling to Shannonside more in hope than expectation but Pat Ryan had promised his side would make it worth their while with a battling performance and that carried them all the way to a first provincial crown since 2018. We look back on the game itself and the memorable occasion at TUS Gaelic Grounds where both sets of supporters and a ferocious contest led to an electric atmosphere. It was a rollercoaster of emotion across the near 100-minute war before penalties decided it. Limerick had no shortage of regrets, which sums up what an incredible team they've been, going for seven in a row and still leaving everything on the field. Cork hurled outstandingly well in normal time where their sloppy shooting meant it finished level. Then Limerick missed more chances before a Darragh Fitzgibbon deep into added time forced a shootout. We break down the key areas where Cork turned the tide from their humiliating loss in the group game. Subs made a critical impact, with Conor Lehane and Shane Kingston deservedly taking all the plaudits. Limerick haven't gone away of course. They'll be raging favourites to bounce back and beat Dublin or Kildare, and then Kilkenny, to reach the All-Ireland final. Cork have to look after their own house with a month-gap before their semi-final in Croke, most likely against a Tipperary side who feel they owe their rivals. For now, we can enjoy the beautiful feeling of being Munster champs. We also preview Cork's knockout football clash with Roscommon, a 50-50 match where John Cleary's side will be hoping to bring the form they showed against Kerry, rather than in a loss to Meath. Plus a round-up of the club football action and the minors' All-Ireland semi-final exit at the hands of Tyrone. Now in its third season, every week Éamonn Murphy will be joined by The Echo team including Barry O'Mahony, Denis Hurley, Rory Noonan, John Horgan and more to discuss all the latest Cork GAA news on and off the field. You can listen to the Echo Sport Podcast every week wherever you get your podcasts or on www.echolive.ie/podcast Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Irish Sailor Tom Dolan from Co. Meath has carved a most unexpected career for himself on the high seas. Winner of the 2024 Solitaire du Figaro Paprec, Tom sailed himself into the history books as the first Irish sailor and only the third non-French competitor to win this prestigious race in its fifty five year history, cementing his position and reputation as a world class sailor. He subsequently was awarded Irish Sailor of the year in February of this year for the second time. An unlikely career for a man who grew up on a farm in Co. Meath where Gaelic Football was the sport of choice and sailing was something he watched on TV dreaming of one day sailing the high seas. But dreams do come true and for Tom, although it was an unconventional career path and to say the least a hard graft learning all the skills, insights and intricacies of sailing he earned his stripes from the ground up. Relentless in his pursuit of excellence, his grit, determination and resilience to embrace his passion for sailing saw him follow his heart and love of the sport to France over a decade ago. Immersing himself in one of the world's most competitive sailing environments it provide the perfect playground for Tom to flourish, hone his craft and gain vast experience to become one of the best off-shore sailors in the world. Known as 'The Flying Irishman,' Tom's journey has been anything but smooth sailing. In this episode, he shares the highs and lows of his career, offering insight into the technical and mental demands of elite level racing, the toll of sleep deprivation and hallucinations at sea, and the vital role of a strong support team. His story is not just one of overcoming odds, but of staying true to a passion, trusting the process and proving that with commitment and belief, even the wildest dreams can become reality.

For this extra special bonus-length live episode, I'm joined by Comedians and Actors Willa White and Eric Lalor. The lads sit down with me on stage at the fantastic Púca Festival in Trim, Co. Meath to talk about their very unique experiences with mental struggles, the power of friendship, life lessons and a home birth that went very very weird!Willa White is living proof that you can come back from anything — with a bit of reflection, a lot of humour, and the kind of honesty that stops you in your tracks. He's battled addiction, transformed his life, and now uses laughter and his award-winning acting chops— not just as punchlines, but as a path to healing. His hugely successful and powerful one man show the Examination has played in theatres across the world and, in recent times, he sold out both the 3Olympia Theatre and The Gaiety Theatre (the first comedian to do so in over 10 years), making him the first Irish man to play the venue since it was built back in 1939.Eric is a multi award-winning comedian and his latest one man show, Lol'er By Nature was a sell out success at Dublin's Liberty Hall Theatre. You also might know him as the loveable rogue Cathal Spillane from Fair City but off-screen and stage he's one of the funniest, soundest, and most razor-sharp comedians in the country.Check out one of Willa's Work in Progress shows on the 18th & 19th June in the Axis Theatre in Ballymun, in the National Stadium in Dublin on Aug 2nd, or on Oct 1st in the TLT, Drogheda. Make sure you tune into the lads' award-winning You Must Be Jokin' podcast and follow @ericlalor and @willawhitecomedy on Instagram. If you're new to the series, why not take the time to go back and catch up on the wonderful interviews that you may have missed!Visit www.dermotwhelan.com for more information and don't forget my new book Busy and Wrecked is out now! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Still basking in unusually sunny weather, the lads discuss innocent websites with unfortunate names, how PJ's efforts to get his drivers license went horribly wrong, the way you eat your ice cream, the odd requests of Sophie Ellis Bextor, the Pogues and the Dubliners, nicknames for body parts, and daft questions asked by tourists. If you like what you hear here, tune into Radio Nova for the cereal messers: PJ Gallagher and Jim McCabe's radio show, "Morning Glory", every weekday from 6-10am.The IMRO Radio Award-winning show features news, sport, weather, traffic and craic every day, as well as the most seriously addictive music in town! Michelle Riordan is originally from Co Meath where her family runs their own business. She and her husband had both travelled and lived abroad separately for many years. They had grown up down the road from each other in a small rural community in Meath. When their paths finally crossed again in 2004, they established Yogatraveller, a business that combined their passions for yoga and travel. They did all the groundwork from the foothills of the Himalayas in Northern India, building a website and continuing to study yoga. In 2007 they returned to Ireland to have their first child and shortly after we relocated to North Clare where they have been since. Michelle says, ‘after many years of wandering we knew we had found home.'
