In this episode, we move onto what can be called the Second Age of the Crusaders, that is the period after the Third Crusade, when the Crusader states were weakened but still controlled the coast of Palestine. After Richard the Lionheart's departure from the Holy Land in 1192, it wasn't long before his great rival, Saladin, also died, an event that would reshape medieval Islam and the entire Middle East.
After Richard welcomes special guest Gav Rymill to the Something Who bunker deep under the ruins of London, we settle into a discussion with Paul and Giles about two Dalek invasion stories: First Doctor tale The Dalek Invasion of Earth and the latest 13th Doctor adventure Revolution of the Daleks. Gav is unique among guests to Something Who in having provided us with his own remix of the episode and you can thank him for the fact that this runs at less than two hours, while retaining all the key moments, when my original edit was considerably longer. Today on the podcast we have Richard Kelley MW. Richard currently runs Dreyfus Ashby, an importer based in the UK specialising in South Africa and regional France, with a particular bias towards the Loire. After Richard earnt his Master of Wine, he spent many years in the South African wine industry in the mid and late nighties working for Vinimark. He returned to the UK in the 2000s and has continued to champion South Africa in his home market and has worked with some of the most important producers of the last 20 years. I wanted to chat to Richard about South African wine in the UK market – and ask his advice for producers wanting to get into that market. Richard is a hugely respected authority on South African wine, and I think you’ll understand why once you listen to our conversation. I give you Richard Kelley…

Key Takeaways: [0:55] Chris’s partner, Richard, was diagnosed with esophagus cancer. [4:00] Chris made a conscious decision to not tell Richard he only had 3-4 months to live. [10:20] It’s important to share each other’s caregiving story, no matter how painful it might be. Your story helps others. After Richard finds out he's on a different wavelength from the rest of the 13cast crew, he's also a bit hazy on the nature of Rosa Parks' protest. The team then give their reviews of The Ghost Monument and Rosa, including chapter 3 of anamorphic lenses. Keep listening to the end for the first installments of Masterchefcast and SkyAtNightcast. We also break it to Simon that Jane Horrocks is from Lancashire. Originally posted on the Doctor Who Grumpcast feed on 26-10-2018. 290
Jazz, who was the third of the three to really "jack me up," helped me so much. It was a three day process when I went through the depths of hell to figure out what was actually wrong with me. After Richard came Isabel, followed by Jazz -- and boy -- did she have a story! This is going to hit home for a lot of people dealing with anxiety, depression, and even suicidal thoughts. Death and die, the two worst nicknames ever…this is what we have to look forward to this episode. Meredith’s old friend Sadie is in town, and she is shoving Cristina out of Mer’s bed. We are not here for it, and we are not impressed. Hahn is gone. After Richard told her to leave things alone with the Denny and Izzie situation, and Callie was not expressing her feelings as deeply as Hahn she decided to leave. This leaves Cristina with Dr. Dixon, wishing for Hahn to be back, and Callie crying in the O.R. Izzie is still seeing Denny. She thinks she is being haunted by him, because she still has the sweater she knit him. She asks Karev to burn it for her, and she wanders back to her room where SURPRISE there is Denny. They make out. On deck….ghost sex. For today's episode our panelists read "Cul de Sac: This Exit" by Richard Thompson, the "last great newspaper comic." After Richard's passing earlier this year and the dire state of newspapers in general, we may not see his kind again. We also discuss the documentary "Stripped" directed by Dave Kellett, the "tell, don't show" approach to making comics, which part of southern Ontario is the most dire, and the similarity between kgros and Petey Otterloop. Music by Sleuth. Our next episode will cover "Ghosts" by Raina Telgemeier.
After Richard reads Kitchen Confidential the guys discuss the Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll of working in a restaurant. Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the swinging doors of a restaurant? Here is your chance to get a peak behind the curtain. The tales take us from dumpster diving for porn, the type of people you meet, and the other craziness that happens next to the broiler. Richard and Shawn’s Bromance started in a restaurant many years ago. The stories are endless from Lesbians flashing to being left outside in the cold with a car frozen shut.
This week the Language Of Bromance Team discusses what is on everybody’s mind Ebola. What we have to fear with this epidemic and how it ties into an island of venomous snakes. After Richard takes a survey based on a famous Psychiatrist the duo discusses how every story follows the Heroes Journey. As always there is a tie into Jaws. With the fear of an epidemic and now the end of Saturday morning cartoons Richard and Shawn bring up just packing it all up and living in the woods like the famous Mick Dodge [...]
After Richard had broken the revolt in London at Smithfield it was time to tackle the chaos outside London. The Counter Revolution took something between 1,500-7,000 judicial executions, and did nothing to solve the breaches in a divided society. Also this week, a look at the state of the nation of the medieval English church, as we approach the story of John Wyclif and the Lollards.
A Bad at Sports Basel Art Fair Overdose! The intro and outro are extra creepy this week. Highlights(?) include Duncan talking about some fantasy involving wearing tight short shorts and Teena McClelland!!! Tom Burtonwood interrupts the recording by shooting rubber bands. Chaos! After Richard and Duncan are done making a mess of things, the real pros come in and present a fantastic report from Basel. Lamis El Farra, emerging artist, and the EuroShark Mark Staff Brandl, seemingly perennially emerging black sheep artist, traverse and discuss the entirety of the King of Art Fairs, Art Basel. Yes: the Fair Itself, Art Statements, Art Unlimited, Scope, and the Solo Project. They only missed Liste and Print Basel. Sorry, but all the rest was already enough. Of course they were at the VIP opening (ahem) and managed to talk to more people than you can shake a stick at: artists, gallerists, museum directors, curators, critics, art magazine editors, fair organizers, all the hangers-on, …er…, important elements of the international artworld.
