Arguile, Glad, Salix, and Zechs find themselves inexplicably transported to the distant past, landing in Sloane's Second Age rather than the Nymora of their time. Struggling to understand their predicament, they attempt to gather information discreetly, but Zechs inadvertently reveals their origins. This earns him a referral to the priestess of Nireana and ultimately to the priestess of Tumra, where he becomes visibly disturbed by the revelations he receives. Meanwhile, in the present, the rest of the party watches their companions in a catatonic state, their eyes glazed over. Shanks and Galahad attempt to discern the cause, only to hear a voice declaring, “These are the tithes that must be paid.” The goddess Aphy reassures them that their friends are safe and urges them to aid from their side. They resolve to investigate the leadership that enabled Nymora's suffering, instructing Greyleaf to seek his mother's connections. Before parting, Hoshino performs an act of kindness, reuniting a lost child with their family, a rare moment of light in a place marred by pain.In the past, the group consults the priestess of Tumra, who informs them that this journey is a lesson for Zechs and all of them. When Salix inquires if the lesson is forgiveness, they are corrected—the actual lesson is acceptance and closure, they hear from an absent but familiar voice. As they explore the city, they sense the rising tension of the approaching conflict between the Panteran Pantheon and Malar. They hear of erratic wildlife and growing fear of Malar's influence, suspecting an impending disaster. Zechs theorizes that a site of his future sacrifices may already exist and be occupied by Malar and his followers. The group stealthily investigates, finding a massive bonfire surrounded by many figures. In the present, Greyleaf's mother welcomes him and his friends, sharing a moment of reunion before shifting to the serious matter. After a short prayer, she bluntly acknowledges their foes, providing a wealth of names while advising caution. The party learns of her formidable past and her service during the arrival of the Vitalis family. With their newfound intelligence, they form teams—Shanks and Greyleaf, Hoshino, and Galahad—each tasked with specific roles. With Hoshino's Seeming spell altering their appearances, they set forth, ready to confront the forces that have plagued Nymora for generations. There's so much happening, and that's where we pick up…Find out what happens next in this episode of the Medusa's Cascade: Collateral Damage! Trump is back. And back with a bang. Be it old age or the fog of Covid but Little Questions had forgotten quite how discombobulating the stream of consciousness from the 47th President of the United States really is. From waking up in the morning wondering, what has he said or done now, to then trying to work out what he meant, and if the latest u-turn was a u-turn or not. All before the coffee has properly kicked in. There can be no question that his return has encouraged a wider shift to more conservative social and political stances and a celebration of capitalism. Across many sectors, businesses are either doing away with, watering down or simply trying to hide their DEI and ESG programmes – the find and replace function in Windows has surely never been busier. Some business leaders have gone further, speaking out on previously controversial issues, no longer afraid of being cancelled. For some the shift is a breath of fresh air. For others a return to darker times. How on earth do we Corporate Communicators, the last bastions of common sense in an increasingly mad and angry world, respond? Are we ducking and covering hoping for things to return to normal in four years? Do we pragmatically and gently reposition? Do we rail against the dying of the light and to hell with the commercial consequences? Or do we drill baby, drill? This episode is hosted by Andrew Brown. Formerly Director of Communications and Public affairs at Ageas Insurance, Andrew has more than ten years' experience leading the corporate affairs functions for global, listed, multifaceted firms across a range of regulated and unregulated sectors. He has considerable experience in issues, crisis and change management as well as reputation sentiment analysis and insight. Formerly Director of Communications at Drax Group plc and Group Corporate Affairs Director at Regus plc. “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” is returning for its third season with what promises to be its biggest leap forward yet — literally. Show insiders have confirmed that season 3 of Amazon Prime Video's epic fantasy will jump several years beyond the events of season 2, plunging viewers headlong into a fully ignited War of the Elves and Sauron. At the end of season 2, Sauron (Charlie Vickers) emerged triumphant, seizing control of Mordor by removing Adar (Sam Hazeldine) from the equation and securing the nine Rings of Men. Despite a brewing alliance among Elven leaders, the Dark Lord remains a formidable menace. This new chapter is set to explore his efforts to forge the One Ring — a master creation designed to subject all races of Middle-earth to his will.Along with the time jump, season 3 is expected to showcase how each faction in Middle-earth reacts to a rapidly escalating conflict. For the Elves, this is a defining moment: their leaders are determined to prevent Sauron's shadow from enveloping the land. Meanwhile, Númenor stands on the brink of upheaval under Pharazôn's (Trystan Gravelle) rule, who has grown increasingly antagonistic toward the Faithful after realizing Halbrand's hidden identity as Sauron.Viewers will also discover the evolving journey of the Stranger (Daniel Weyman). Having embraced the name “Gandalf,” he continues to refine his powers, presumably to face off against fresh threats that have emerged since the last battle. The looming conflict between Gandalf and a dark wizard (Ciarán Hinds) is expected to be another focal point, further intensifying the show's magical stakes. On the production side, returning directors Charlotte Brändström and Sanaa Hamri will be joined by newcomer Stefan Schwartz for the season's eight episodes. Their collective vision aims to expand the scope of the series, both visually and narratively, as it accelerates toward the War of the Elves and Sauron.By introducing its most significant time jump yet, “The Rings of Power” season 3 is set to catapult fans further into the darkest corridors of Middle-earth's Second Age. With the One Ring's creation on the horizon, alliances will be tested and destinies shaped, ensuring that this new installment remains one of the most anticipated chapters in the growing tapestry of J.R.R. Tolkien's world.
The second season of Yumeta Company's otome fantasy Neo Angelique Abyss picks up six months after the original, with Angelique waking out of her coma to find that their house has burned down, everyone hates them, and also the pope is doing a coup. BJ and Duffo discuss installing a giant retractable slingshot on your sailing vessel, giving birth to a baby holding a pointy metal leaf, and leaving all your friends behind to become a priestess in outer space. Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” This famous quote, attributed to Lord Acton, could just as easily serve as the thesis statement for the sophomore season of Amazon's streaming hit, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Further exploring the Second Age of Middle-earth, the allure and peril of unchecked power and untempered ambition become inevitable thematic focal points this season, as the series inches us closer to Tolkien's legendary trilogy. One of the most compelling aspects of the most recent season is its focus on the power of suggestion and manipulation. Sauron is a master of deceit, poised to play perhaps the most important role in shaping the fate of Middle-earth. His ability to influence the hearts and minds of even the wisest and most powerful among the Elves, such as Galadriel, was showcased in the first season. If one can look past the compressed timeline and slight alterations to Tolkien's established mythology for the sake of adaptation, the cultural apologist can find in this most recent season of The Rings of Power a valuable tool for engaging in meaningful conversations about faith. This Postmodern Realities episode is a conversation with JOURNAL author Cole Burgett about his online article entitled, "The Subtle Art of Corruption in the Sophomore Season of The Rings of Power". [School of Everything Else 2023] We all knew this would happen eventually. No Intellectual property that has been known to rake in a billion dollars for a single movie will ever be left alone to stand in glorious completion. Whomsoever holds the rights will use them. Some folks expected a (potentially very misguided) attempt at making the entire Silmarillion for television, or for Amazon to do what it seems likely Warner Bros. eventually will with Harry Potter and just re-tread the books we've already seen adapted exceptionally well to film in the 2000s - this time to a 2020s TV series (ostensibly so that they can use the additional time allowed by the format to be truer to the original text, but you KNOW there would be a ton of new stuff in there that would drive the long-time fanbase crazy!) Instead, Amazon took the first eight minutes of The Fellowship of the Ring, the prologue describing the end of the Second Age, conveyed so memorably and elegantly at the opening of that 2001 film, and cracked that series of decades (and sometimes centuries) of events open to create an apparently ongoing TV show detailing exactly how Sauron the deceiver was able to deceive all the races of Middle-earth quite so skilfully, and get his jewellery side-business booming. Maybe the most EXPENSIVE experience ever put to the small screen, let's see if all of those hopes and dreams of cornering the streaming market paid off for Bezos. We've brought back Chris Eason, our running-mate from the original 2012 Lord of the Rings episodes (still some of our very best) and The Hobbit (an exercise in hopes being dashed over a number of years), along with the always-engaging, insightful and smart Brendan Agnew. There's definitely things we like here. But some of us are madder than others. Guests: Chris Eason of GameBurst @Legoftime Brenden Agnew of Cinapse @BLCAgnew

At a United Nations water conference in March, amid increasing global water conflicts and climate crises, U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres sounded an urgent alarm. “All of humanity's hopes for the future depend, in some way, on charting a new course to sustainably manage and conserve water,” he said. But what would a new course look like? Renowned water expert and scientist Peter Gleick seeks to answer that question in his latest book “The Three Ages of Water”. The book explores the complex relationship between humans and water throughout history, from ancient civilizations to the modern, scientific “Second Age of Water” when we “learned to manipulate the natural hydrologic cycle” but also did great harm to the planet. We'll talk with Gleick about his call for a revolutionary “Third Age” of responsible water stewardship. Guests: Peter Gleick, senior fellow and co-founder, Pacific Institute; author, "The Three Ages of Water"
