Swole Cinema Episode 53 is here, and this week Ryan and Mark are stepping into the underground fight scene with Jean-Claude Van Damme in Lionheart! After tragedy strikes, Lyon Gaultier deserts the French Foreign Legion and enters brutal street fights to support his family—because when it comes to heart and honor, Van Damme doesn't hold back. We're talking spinning kicks, emotional stakes, and whether Lionheart is the most underrated JCVD flick of them all. From rooftops to racquetball courts, this one punches hard.#SwoleCinema #Lionheart #JeanClaudeVanDamme #JCVD #90sAction #UndergroundFighting #MoviePodcast #ActionMovies #VanDammeForever #CinematicAdventure
"Lionheart" by Matt Miller. Father's Day 2025. The message was preached on June 15, 2025. Proverbs 20:7.
Zo visits New York City to bare witness to some of the shadier parts of the city: the behind the scenes speakeasies that go unnoticed by common bar flies, the underground clubs where you got to know somebody who knows somebody to get into, and the shadiest parts of all: the secret world of the bare knuckles nock down drag out street fight clubs that nobody talks about. Zo sees an amazing fighter in one of these fights. Seemingly out of nowhere and speaking a strange accent, this mystery man makes short work of some of the toughest brawlers in the Big Apple. At the end of the fight a man proclaims, "Lionheart! King of the Jungle!" Lionheart, it seems, is the guy that you'd want to put your money on. Any other wager would be the wrong bet.Episode Segments00:05:04 Opening Credits for Lionheart starring: Jean-Claude Van Damme, Harrison Page, and Deborah Rennard00:13:45 Favorite Parts of the 1990 film: Lionheart00:48:24 Trivia from the Martial Arts Action Movie Lionheart00:51:51 Critics' Thoughts on Sheldon Lettich's Lionheart Please leave a comment, suggestion or question on our social media: Back Look Cinema: The Podcast Links:Website: www.backlookcinema.comEmail: fanmail@backlookcinema.comYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@backlookcinemaTwitter: https://twitter.com/backlookcinemaFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/BackLookCinemaInstagram: https://instagram.com/backlookcinemaThreads: https://www.threads.net/@backlookcinemaTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@backlookcinemaTwitch https://www.twitch.tv/backlookcinemaBlue Sky: https://bsky.app/profile/backlookcinema.bsky.socialMastodon: https://mstdn.party/@backlookcinemaBack Look Cinema Merch at Teespring.comBack Look Cinema Merch at Teepublic.com Again, thanks for listening.

From the racquetball courts of junior college to the C-suite at Southwest Airlines—and now as CEO of Lionheart Children's Academy - Jeff Lamb's journey is a masterclass in unexpected opportunity, bold conviction, and servant leadership. In this episode, Jeff recounts pivotal moments that shaped his career—from working in the mailroom at Mesa Petroleum under T. Boone Pickens, to being mentored by Roger Staubach, and eventually leading people operations at one of America's most beloved airlines. Jeff unpacks how the intentionality behind career choices, culture building, and investing in people created lasting impact across companies. He also shares how his current role at Lionheart Academy brings together business excellence and faith-based mission—creating a scalable model for transformational early childhood education in partnership with churches. Whether you're leading a team, thinking through your next big move, or looking to build a values-driven organization, Jeff's story will inspire you to think differently about leadership, influence, and legacy. “Boone Pickens told me, ‘You can coach in the corporate world.' That changed my life.” - Jeff Lamb “If everyone's telling you the same thing, you don't need seven of them. The ability to respectfully disagree is a mark of real leadership.” - Jeff Lamb “At Southwest, when it came down to choosing between the customer and the employee—we chose the employee. And the financial results followed.” - Jeff Lamb This Week on The Wow Factor: How a failed attempt at junior college football redirected Jeff's path toward business Lessons learned working under T. The Crusaders held Jerusalem and the Holy Land for a short 88 years (1099-1187). But when Caliph Saladin (a Sunni Kurd) recaptured both the relic of the "True Cross" and Jerusalem itself a third Crusade was called for by Pope Urban III. Among those who answered that call was Richard the Lionheart, the King of England who carried King Arthur's famed sword "Excalibur." In this episode I recount what preceded Saladin's re-conquest of Jerusalem, the challenges of staying hydrated for the Crusaders, the ongoing suspicions and betrayals between Byzantine and Holy Roman Empire Christians, everyday life on the Crusader march, and how Richard and Saladin finally ended their warring. In the show's opening I reflect on American students' deliquencies on their school loans. I also explain still more about the Bible and violence, delineating how I frame the question of violence and/or pacifism from Old Testament to New Testament. Come and enjoy some intellectually fresh Wagyu beef with me!
In Part Two of Seán's three-part conversation with the legendary guitarist and songwriter, Brian Bath, he discusses being there for Kate's stunning debut with Wuthering Heights, leading her band for TV appearances, working on demos and helping build her first demo studio at the farm, playing on the Lionheart album and the incredible experience of playing guitar on the 1979 Lionheart tour! We also hear a couple of excerpts from never-before-heard acoustic demos. Such an honour to have spoken to the lovely Brian Bath, once again!

When we look back to medieval Europe, there are a handful legendary figures who stand out above the rest. Richard the Lionheart. Charlemagne. El Cid. And Frederick Barbarossa. A powerful emperor, focused crusader, and stubborn supporter in the middle of a papal schism, Barbarossa certainly made waves in the twelfth century, and left a lasting impression. This week, Danièle speaks with Graham Loud about how Barbarossa came to power, how he managed to reign supreme in both Germany and Italy despite some bumps along the way, and why he's sometimes revered as a once and future king in Germany.Listen to this episode ad-free at https://www.patreon.com/medievalists

Richard the Lionheart is well-known for his travels to distant lands, time on crusade, and wrangling with international politics… But, less well known is the fact that his sister, Joanna Plantagenet (otherwise known as Joan of England, Queen of Sicily) led a life of adventure and danger to rival that of her famous brother. A princess, queen, prisoner and power player, she navigated the turbulent world of medieval politics with resilience and careful judiciousness. Emily Briffett speaks to author and historian Catherine Hanley to chart Joanna's extraordinary life and uncover why she deserves the title of the medieval 'Lionessheart'. The courageous life of Joanna Plantagenet extends far beyond her mother, Eleanor of Aquitaine, and her 'brave and heroic' brother Richard the Lionheart. She conquers the throne, escapes from a prison, is shipwrecked, goes on crusade, survives bullying brothers and husbands and essentially waits for no man. As Dr. Catherine Hanley puts it; "you don't become Queen and sit about eating chocolates, there's a job to do".Matt Lewis is joined by Cath to celebrate the adventurous and tumultuous life of Joanna Plantagenet, who's resilience and resourcefulness is astonishing as she navigates political intrigue, personal tragedy, and battles for survival in a male-dominated world. She is a testament to the ways medieval women asserted power and agency in a time of limited control.Gone Medieval is presented by Matt Lewis.
