Thank you for listening to our Finding Brave show, ranked in the Top 100 Apple Career Podcasts! “There is this balance between building that world-class network in record time, doing this as quickly as possible to accomplish your goals, helping your clients more or bring your vision to life, and also the fact that we are playing a very long game. Some of the people that you're making friendships with now may benefit you in 10 or 20 years, and you have no idea how they're going to support you or how you're going to support them in the future.” - Jared Kleinert Networking is a process of true engagement with others that is critical to our success that I talk about often, and today's Finding Brave guest truly embodies this skill. If you've ever wanted to improve your networking skills to not only help in the attainment of your own goals, but to assist others in achieving their desires, there are unspoken rules you must be aware of. In this episode, our guest reveals these rules and gives you the tools that will help you become a true “super connector.” Jared Kleinert is a TED speaker, award-winning author, and USA Today's “Most Connected Millennial.” He's the co-founder of a new startup called Offsite and author of the new book How To Build A World Class Network In Record Time. As Jared shares, ultimately becoming a super connector is about doing the important inner work that we all need to do on a regular basis. We encourage you to start working on building your support network today, but don't get discouraged or take it personally if at first you don't get the results you were hoping for or expecting. If you detach from the outcome and give it your best effort, in the long run both you, and the people in your network, will benefit greatly. This week I have the pleasure of bringing Jared Saavedra on the podcast. Jared is the owner of Athlete Ready Albuquerque, Athlete Ready Global, Saavedra properties, and many other new ventures. Learning more about Jared's career in Strength & Conditioning was a pleasure.  We cover the development of his gym Athlete Ready, the difference between elite athletes in competition & elite athletes in the gym,  as well as how to build athlete buy in within your coaching. This was a great interview for Strength & Conditioning Coaches to listen to. Listening to how Jared approaches his day to day really shows the level of understanding that strength & conditioning is about dealing with people first.  Understanding who it is you're working with and how to best help them goes so far beyond simply sets and reps in your coaching.  As Jared said in the interview, no athlete is ever going to reminisce with you on "remember when I got that 300 lbs squat, etc. etc." They are going to remember you being there for them, listening to them and creating a good environment for them. For athletes out there listening to this, Jared's answer on how you set yourself apart and succeed at the top level is simple.  It's consistency & doing the little things outside of the gym that will help you get there.Learning what it takes to become an elite athlete is difficult. One of the keys to the Athlete Ready approach is time management. Understanding how to make the best use of your time allows young athletes to make more out of their days and as a result, progress that much more, that much faster. The concept of planning your season basically means to figure out how to make the most of your time.  In your busier times, instead of simply eliminating training, or other activities you know you need to be doing, plan out how you will be able to most effectively accommodate all the priorities in your life. If you don't know where to start, do NOT be afraid to talk to someone and get help.  We are all in this together.Thank YOU for tuning in to another episode of The Elite Development Podcast! Jared also talks about the guilt and shame he carried from those experiences throughout his youth and through his LDS mission. As Jared progresses through life, he feels he has forgiven his uncle and was ready to move on, until his uncle was called as a bishop and given stewardship over a ward, including children.  Feeling pressure to say something, Jared finally told his wife Juli of the abuse he suffered decades earlier. In Part 2 of this interview, Jared and Juli discuss multiple meetings and interactions with LDS Church leaders including multiple stake presidents and bishops, and a private meeting with Elder Steven O. Laing of the Seventy (recorded by Jared and Juli and presented as Part 3 of this interview) to warn them of his uncle’s alleged history of abuse. During this meeting, both Jared and Juli were still true believing members, but now regard the inaction taken by their priesthood leaders and instead focusing on their personal faith as a major tipping point for their testimonies. As of today, Jared’s uncle remains bishop in a northern Utah ward.

Hitting the open road with the wonders of the world out your window, pulling up and resting your heard wherever you park your van. It sounds so beautiful, and it is what my guest today, Jared Melrose, and his sweetheart of ten years, Ash, do as they both live in a van together. In this episode we touch on the functionalities of living in a van—the cost of fitting out a van, doing laundry, cooking, and the use of public toilets. Or “shining beacons in the night” as Jared calls them. We also dive into some deeper topics, and what I love is how honest Jaded is about some of the realities of van life and the dichotomy of the lifestyle. There is freedom in mobility, but not always freedom with space. Jared talks about initially dealing with the change in comfort, crossing the bridge of other people’s expectations, and confronting his relationship with Ash, as there is nowhere to go, shut a door, and have your own space. As Jared says, “Everyone has got compromises that they are dealing with.” And for Jared, the lack of a comfy couch to chill out on, or the ability to shut a door on an argument, is what he is willing to compromise for everything else the #vanlife has to offer. Jared talks about living in a world with no fences, being in the moment and learning to deal with issues as the arise, building a community all over the world, and connecting with people and nature. Jared is also one of the guys behind the hugely successful website vanlife.com.au and Van Life Diaries. Through his website, Jared organises gatherings in Australia and North America, for van lifers to connect in person and to welcome other people to the community to see what it is all about. I personally cannot wait to head along to one. For me, this episode isn’t simply about living in a van. It is about looking at how you live your life, and if the way you live your life enables you to love and connect with people—especially strangers. I hope you enjoy x www.liveimmediately.com.au

The whole Shuttle Pod crew is back this week to discuss the season one finale of Star Trek: Discovery. So, take our hand (sorry) and dive into this season’s last episode of Shuttle Pod At The Disco. Star Trek: Discovery Season 1, Episode 15 – Debuted Sunday February 11th, 2018 Written by Aaron Harberts and Gretchen J. Berg and Akvia Goldsman Directed by Akvia Goldsman After a rocky penultimate episode and with so many narrative threads left in the balance, did Discovery pull off a satisfactory conclusion to its inaugural season? The short answer is yes… and no. There really isn’t a short answer, which is why we droned on for an hour and a half dissecting what worked — and what didn’t — in this last week’s finale. In general, many of the pieces that were there were utterly fantastic. As always, the actors brought their A game. The sets on Qo’nos were perhaps some of the best we’ve seen in any Trek TV show, ever. Tilly delighted as always, and her performance was only boosted by the addition of a familiar face who enhanced to a comedic overtone that really worked (plus Tranya). But, think about this episode too hard, and the foundation — the parts of the storyline meant to tie the season’s arc into a nice bow — starts to crumble. Victory comes much too easy for our heroes, and as an audience, we’re not really convinced of why things worked out the way they did. As Jared so aptly pointed out, “they haven’t earned this.”

My guest today is Jared Warner from 123 Get Found. He helps people grow and scale their companies with effective online marketing. He basically helps companies get found on the busy, crowded web. It’s all about Getting Found, Getting Results & Getting Smart, but what does that all mean? As Jared says there’s only three things that really matter in business: Am I getting found online? Am I getting results from getting found online? Am I getting smart as I move forward with my online campaigns? Step 3 is really about understanding the economics between steps 1 and 2 and this is something many companies overlook. Are you getting value out of their online campaigns? You have to know your cost per lead and lifetime value of those leads. Without knowing this information it’s not impossible, but it’s very difficult to scale your business accordingly. Getting smart teaches you where you should stop putting your money, and where you should put your money. In the end you’ll get far better results with the exact same budget you previously had. You end up spending your money more effectively. GETTING FOUND is about your sources of TRAFFIC. The more traffic you can create the more often you will be found. Being a guest on podcasts and webinars, attending live events, creating links and referrals, ADWORDS, SEO and even print advertising are ways of being found. You need to be able to measure your results and this is difficult to do with print advertising, which is why Jared is not a huge fan and does not delve into this area for his clients. The next step is to what extent have you been found? Did we get 10,000 or 100,000 visits to our website. How many phone calls did we get? How many downloads occurred, or how many opt in requests did we receive? You then need to work out how much did we spend to bring in 10,000 or 100,000 visits to our website? From this information you can work out the cost per per lead. Jared has attended BNI and other networking events, and he points out that it doesn’t cost you a lot of money to attend, but it does cost you a lot of time, and time is money, but in the end it comes down to how many referrals did you get? What was your ROI, not just for your money, but also for your time? How did Jared learn these techniques? Jared learnt how to do this effectively by actually doing it in his own business. It’s not just theory. Many business people make the mistake of thinking just because they have a business and a website, they’re in business, but this is wrong. This is simply step 1 of a 100 steps. Going Out Of Business Signs Why do people spend money on billboards telling people they’re going out of business? It’s dumb decisions like this that put people out of business in the first place. What they spend on billboards could be used effectively using online marketing and they may have been able to save their business. Ideas Lose Momentum Jared acts quickly and never lets and idea sit in his head too long. Ideas lose momentum if you don’t take action on them immediately. Enthusiasm for an idea can be lost if you don’t take the first few steps to make it a reality. If Jared has an idea, he immediately buys the domain name, because domain names are like real estate, once you have it it’s yours. He then builds a website around the idea, but if he doesn’t like the idea after a period of time, he moves on to his next idea. Not every idea is worth pursuing past the initial first few steps, but you have to take those steps to work this out. What’s more important, having a website that looks really good, or having an average website and being found? Both are important. First, you’ve got to have a clean polished image, because this is a reflection of you, but you’ve got to build specific landing pages to a specific offer. Forget about trying to build SEO, that’s almost out of date. For example if you’re advertising a specific service or product, you don’t send people to your homepage, that’s old thinking, it must go to a specific landing page that gives them the exact information they were looking for and the information you promoted. It takes a lot of time to do it right, but it’s worth the effort. What do people WANT? More importantly though, what do people really NEED. People say they want to be found, but actually they need cash in their pockets, so just getting found is not the full story. It’s about making the phone ring, selling a product, etc. Study Everyday Online marketing changes that much you need to keep up and Jared has attended 12 events so far this year (2017). He usually attends digital marketing, personal development and business events. But do you have the time to attend 12 events? If you don’t, this is why you outsource to someone that does, like http://www.123getfound.com/ For example he attends the Traffic & Conversion conference, but this is such a high level event, it’s not for the business owner who wants to learn a little bit more about FACEBOOK advertising. This is why some business owners should stay in their business and do what they’re good at. Use your skills to make money and use a company like 123 Get Found to do all the other stuff for you. When To Outsource When Jared started his own business he was doing everything, nothing was outsourced. He did his own coding, made his own videos and images, designed his own website and did all his own graphics. As a small business owner there are many hats you have to wear initially, from being your own graphic artist to being your own bookkeeper, but at some point you have to decide if you’re going to keep doing these non-money making activities that consume your time, or outsource to others with more skill. Outsourcing means things are done faster with better results However, you need to start bringing in revenue before you start outsourcing. You need customers, proof of concept and most importantly you need income. You need to get through the early stage growing pains. Your sales pitch needs to be in place, you need to know who your customers, before you contact someone like 123 Get Found. There’s no point getting found until you’ve got something in place to offer or sell. Getting Smart is about knowing how much revenue your generating from your leads. Ad Scent is about keeping the ad on the same trail, just like a bloodhound. You can’t direct people to your homepage when they’ve clicked a link that said you’re offering a 2-For-1 Sale. You had better be telling them the message they were chasing; otherwise they will leave your website quickly and never return. Just directing people to your homepage is not good enough anymore. Keep Videos Short A human’s attention span is less than that of a goldfish – therefore you need to have shorter videos. No one is going to give you 4-minutes, therefore 15 – 45 second videos are excellent and have been proven to work best. One thing all small business owner should do tomorrow? But speaking with Jared was particularly special because I related to it so closely. Like Jared, I came from a family with parents who had different religious and political backgrounds. Although positives and negatives can come out of that situation, each child handles it differently. Jared ended up choosing a Christian lifestyle and was drawn to the religion because it stood for something bigger than himself, and offered him a sense of community.  As Jared’s story unfolds he talks about the process of going from a religious man to a spiritual man, while keeping community and purpose in his life. From his tiny wood shop located in his parents garage he balances a life of isolation and meaningful community. During my time with him there were countless people who would drive by and honk, wave, or shout “hi” to Jared as they passed by.
