Quick SummaryMatt Diamante — founder of the Hey Tony Agency — joins host Kelsey for a candid conversation about his winding path from process server to band member to SEO expert. Matt breaks down the foundational steps any small business owner can take to rank on Google, explains how AI search is changing content strategy, and shares the simple daily habit that transformed his referral-only agency into a content-driven machine. In This EpisodeHow Matt accidentally fell into marketing while trying to promote his bandThe unusual jobs (process server, film crew) that shaped how he runs his agencyGrowing an alternative lifestyle blog from zero to 4 million monthly visitors — and what it taught him about hooksThe origin story behind the name "Hey Tony"The three SEO fundamentals every small business needs: Google Business Profile, a multi-page website, and topical authorityWhy most SEO vendors are scamming small businesses — and how to protect yourselfThe AI prompt Matt uses to write unique, expert-driven blog posts in one hourHow SEO is evolving in the age of ChatGPT and AI search enginesWhat two books pushed Matt to post on social media every single day in 2023Why he doesn't batch content — and why he thinks you shouldn't eitherKey TakeawaysEvery page on your website is a door. Service-based businesses should have a dedicated page for every service they offer. If Google doesn't see it, it doesn't know you offer it.Use AI to extract your expertise, not replace it. Instead of asking ChatGPT to "write a blog post," prompt it to interview you with 10 questions and answer in voice mode. The result is genuinely unique content that reflects your experience.Get to the point faster. In the age of AI search, content that buries the answer under a long preamble will lose. Lead with the answer, then go deeper.Reviews require a system, not willpower. Build a consistent ask into every completed transaction. You can incentivize leaving a review — just not a five-star one specifically.Consistency beats perfection. Matt went from 4 hours per video to 5–10 minutes by posting every single day. The skill builds. The ideas flow. Just start.Memorable Quotes"I believe the world is built on small businesses. If I can help good people grow through SEO, they can hire more staff, create jobs, send their kids to college. If I want to make the world a better place, I can do that one small business at a time." — Matt Diamante"SEO is just solving somebody's problem. How do I fix this myself? That's a blog post. How do I hire someone? That's a service page." — Matt Diamante"That's basically how you run a business. Brand visibility is no longer just about winning the attention of consumers — it's about being eligible to exist in the spaces where discovery happens. In this episode, we speak with Lavinea Morris, Managing Director EMEA at M&C Saatchi Performance, about what it really takes for brands to show up in an AI-driven world. Lavinea introduces the concept of "eligibility" — the idea that before an ad is ever seen, brands must first earn the right to appear. She explains how the rise of AI and generative engine optimization is reshaping discoverability, why performance marketing is now an organization-wide responsibility, and what the "eligibility tax" costs brands that aren't paying attention. From taxonomy and content to trust signals and data feeds, she makes the case that getting found is no longer the job of one team — or one channel. If you work in performance marketing, growth, or brand strategy, this is a timely conversation about what it means to be visible when the machines are doing the filtering. Today's topics include: Why attention metrics are more romanticized than useful — and what to measure instead Brand eligibility: what it takes to be visible before an ad is even shown The eligibility tax — the compounding cost brands pay for not showing up in AI-filtered spaces How M&C Saatchi Performance's role has evolved from media buying to full-stack brand consulting Why generative engine optimization (GEO) is becoming as critical as traditional SEO Why performance marketing is no longer just the performance marketer's job Why waiting is never a strategy — especially in a challenging economic climate Links and Resources: Lavinea Morris on LinkedIn M&C Saatchi Performance Business Of Apps - connecting the app industry Quotes from Lavinea Morris “It depends what attention means to you. Every brand or client will consider attention differently... I think it's a slightly romanticized metric. We have to be thinking about what happens before the ad was seen. How eligible is your brand? How are you able to be seen in the ecosystems that we're operating in?” “Legibility tax is what I like to talk about — the price that brands pay for not being eligible. The reality is we're seeing rising costs, and it's not always because of the performance media. It's actually how you're showing up in these spaces. And are other brands doing better than you, getting that first mover advantage? What does that cost you?” “We've spent so many years talking about getting the attention of the humans — be it creative, putting the ads in the right place at the right time. I think now it's so exciting: how do you get the attention of the machines? And that is a new space, but an easy space for us to be working in.” Host Business Of Apps - connecting the app industry since 2012

You have done everything right. The website is beautiful, the work is gorgeous, the reels go up. So why does it feel like you are shouting into a void while new faces still trickle in from who knows where? This episode answers the who knows where, and the answer has changed.Jen sits down with Renee from Salon Society, for a conversation that started over dinner and turned into a deep dive neither of them wanted to end. Renee has seen this industry from every side. A mature age apprentice who became a Kevin Murphy educator. Then a sales rep who built a territory on relationships. Then a social media agency owner running it all between nap times. And now someone who lives inside the world of AI marketing for salons. She is not teaching theory. She is in salon every week watching real new clients walk in and asking every single one of them how they found the place. What she is finding will change how you think about marketing in 2026. One woman booked a curly hair appointment after typing "best curly hairdresser south Perth" into ChatGPT. Renee shares the real numbers, the multi step path a client takes before they book, and the holes in the bucket that quietly cost you the clients you already worked hard to attract. There is also a tender thread running underneath all of it, about success, motherhood, and the day her son threw her phone across the room and she realised she had built the business but forgotten to pivot it.If this conversation lights something up in you, Renee teaches the full system behind it, building a digital presence that brings in bookings without posting more or chasing trends, in her own online course. What we coverHow clients are now using AI tools like ChatGPT to find a salon, and what that means for youThe one thing to become obsessed with in 2026, knowing exactly where your new clients come fromWhy a referred client can find you and still not book, and how to plug the holes in your bucketOptimising your socials, website and Google Business Profile so AI can actually find youWhy your captions matter again, and the problem and solution story every caption should tellBuilding an evergreen content strategy so you can stop chasing trends and get off the hamster wheelUsing AI to amplify your brand voice instead of replacing itRenee's own pivots, from the salon floor to education to agency to AI, and knowing when each season is overWhat success actually felt like, and the honest cost of chasing moreThis is the episode that makes the AI shift feel less like a threat and more like the most useful thing to happen to salon marketing in years.FAQsHow do salon clients find a business using AI like ChatGPT? Clients type a plain question into an AI tool, such as the best hairdresser for a service in their suburb, and the AI answers by pulling from your socials, website, Google reviews and listed services. The more consistent and specific your content is across those places, the more likely AI is to recommend you. What is the one thing salon owners should focus on in 2026? Become obsessed with knowing where your new clients actually come from by asking every new client how they found you and whether that is when they booked. Once you know what is working, you can make more of that content instead of chasing new clients online for hours.Do captions still matter for salon social media? Yes, more than ever. AI reads the words in your captions and on screen text to understand what your content is about, so a caption that names the service, the client's problem and the solution is what helps you get found and booked.Mentioned in this episode:https://www.salonrising.com

TherapistSEO™ I 've just released a Google Chrome Extension called Therapist SEO™ to help you with your website. With just one click, you'll see what's working and what's not. It includes copy-swaps ie 'instead of this, write this', prompts you can use with Claude or ChatGPT, and more. I also know how easy it is to get overwhelmed, which is why it checks your website just one page at a time and includes visual cues ie green for it's working great, orange for 'it needs fixing but not urgent' and red for 'lets get it done as a priority'. The problem of having a visible website has been compounded by AI in some ways too. All you need to do is jump into Google and ask, 'do I need a referral to see a Psych?' and you'll be shown an AI summary before anything else. And, while you personally might not be a fan, the reality for your business is that without your website being optimised for it, again, you're missing out. And so this tool also helps you with AI optimisation.   I want your practice to surface when clients are Googling for help. You're good at what you do and your services are needed, so you need to be found. And I know it can feel hard or boring or confusing and so my intention here has been to make this as easy as possible, minimum viable effort for you but with pleasing results.   I'll pop the link below in the comments for anyone that would like to take a look. In today's episode, you'll discover: 1.  How SEO has evolved in the age of AI — and what actually works in 2026 and beyond. 2.  How entrepreneurs can use AI to create smarter content, improve visibility, and build long-term search traffic. 3.  What modern tools, timeless fundamentals, and sustainable growth tools to use without burnout? To support these three takeaways, I chose a quote from Anita Nielsen:   "The reality is that being unprepared is a choice. The benefits come when we see AI as a tool, not a terror, and bring it into our sales motions." About Matt Diamante: Matt Diamante is the founder of HeyTony, an SEO agency he grew from a solo operation into a 15+ person team serving brands like RBC, Labatt, Nivea, and Coppertone. He's also the author of Get Found, in which he shares the systems for building predictable demand through search. Matt is known for simplifying SEO and helping businesses grow organically — without paid ads or burnout. AI search is quietly reshaping how homeowners choose a designer or remodeler, and the rules are not the same as traditional SEO. If you want your business to show up when someone asks ChatGPT or Perplexity for “the best kitchen remodeler near me,” you need more than a pretty website and a few keywords. You need content that answers the questions people actually ask and signals that you're a credible expert worth quoting. We talk through the website moves that make you easier for large language models to understand clear service pages, tight structure, and FAQ-style answers around the big trust questions like cost, scope, and timeline. We also explain how to share pricing without boxing yourself into a single number by using ranges and real examples that add context. If your homepage is a wall of text, we explain why that hurts both humans and AI and what “organized” really looks like. Then we get into why PR is having a real moment. Earned media creates third-party credibility, and that validation is exactly what AI systems tend to rely on when they build answers. We break down how smaller local mentions, trade publication quotes, and smart press release distribution can put your name in more places AI looks. We also share what not to do, including publishing generic AI-written website copy that gets ignored instead of rewarded. If you want more designers and remodeling leads from AI search, subscribe, share this with a colleague, and leave a review so more pros can find it.If you would like to get the links and show notes for this episode, click on the link below:https://auditsky.ai (Website AI Audit)https://answerthepublic.com/ (Find out what questions people are asking AI)Transform your marketing with Designer Discussions Academy. How to Get Found on ChatGPT Before Your Competitors Do A complete stranger asked ChatGPT how to explain binge eating to their partner. ChatGPT recommended one woman's podcast. That stranger listened, fell in love with her work, and showed up to the consult call already knowing the price and ready to sign. She made $3,500 from a conversation that happened without her. This is what's happening in search right now. AI tools are recommending specific businesses by name, and the businesses getting named are the ones who figured this out first. Rachel Lindteigen spent 25 years in marketing, Fortune 500s and ad agencies, before turning that expertise toward one question: how do small businesses get found? She now teaches entrepreneurs how to show up in both Google and AI search. One of her students found a single keyword, optimized her homepage around it, and made $150,000 in six months. No launches. No ads. In this episode, Rachel breaks down how AI tools decide which businesses to recommend, how to find the right keywords, and the three mistakes keeping most online business owners invisible. The window is open. This is where you start. RESOURCES MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE: You've built something real. A business making $150K to $500k annually, an audience, and offers that work. But revenue still feels harder to predict than it should. The Revenue Consistency Formula is a free live training for established female founders who have built momentum but are tired of inconsistent results. In this training, I'll teach you how to turn scattered marketing effort into predictable revenue. Ready to build that system? Save your seat here. Etched Marketing (Rachel's website) Marketing for Entrepreneurs Podcast Rachel Lindteigen on Instagram ChatGPT Claude Perplexity Yoast SEO Plugin WordPress Squarespace HERE ARE THE 3 KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM THIS EPISODE: 1️⃣ AI Search Is Recommending Specific Businesses by Name, and Yours Could Be One of Them — When your ideal client asks ChatGPT a question in your area, those tools recommend specific businesses by name. Getting named comes down to one thing: content that directly answers what your clients are already asking, in their own words. 2️⃣ Content Strategy Comes Before Optimization, and That Order Is Everything — The most important SEO question is strategic: what is your ideal client searching for? Answer those questions first, then optimize for findability. Most business owners do it in reverse, and that's why the results never come. 3️⃣ The Keyword You Haven't Found Yet Might Be Worth More Than Your Next Launch — One of Rachel's students found one phrase, optimized her homepage around it, and made $150,000 in six months. No launches. Finding the right keyword is a learnable skill, and for the entrepreneurs who do, it quietly changes everything.MORE FROM ME Follow me on Instagram @amyporterfield SUBSCRIBE & REVIEW If you loved this episode, please take a moment to subscribe and leave a review on Apple Podcasts! The conversation dives into practical strategies business owners can use right now to stay visible and competitive, including leveraging call transcripts to generate authentic content, building a seasonal content calendar, optimizing their website with pricing guides and online scheduling, and investing in local PR and community partnerships to establish brand authority — all critical factors in how AI ranks and recommends local businesses today! What we discuss with Phil: + Search is shifting away from Google + 26% of Gen Z finds local businesses via social media + AI search queries average 347 words vs. Google's 4 + Short-form video now indexed in Google search + Call transcripts = content goldmine + Authentic, unpolished content builds trust + Seasonal content calendars keep strategy on track + Online scheduling is essential for agentic booking + Pricing pages are a must-have + Local PR and community ties boost AI visibility Thank you, Phil! You’ll learn: Why AI engines rarely repeat the same sources—and how that changes traffic forever How brand authority is built through mentions, associations, and personal brands Why being listed alongside established brands can instantly elevate visibility The growing role of Reddit, social platforms, and communities in AI discovery How to structure content for AI without sacrificing real users What businesses should stop obsessing over—and what actually moves the needle Whether you run content-heavy sites, ecommerce brands, SaaS, or are evaluating businesses to buy, this episode offers a practical framework for adapting to AI without panic—or guesswork. In this episode of the Federal Help Center Podcast, Randie Ward explains why winning contractors don't stay stuck in the constant "bid, bid, bid" cycle. She breaks down the difference between tactical bidding (reactively searching SAM.gov) and strategic capture (building relationships and forecasting opportunities before they ever hit the platform). The goal isn't just finding contracts — it's positioning yourself so agencies and primes can find you first. Randie shares a real success story from a higher education contract win, proving that the same federal capture strategies work across state, local, and university projects. By staying persistent, connecting with the right decision-makers, and tracking opportunities early, contractors can stop chasing bids late and start winning through visibility and preparation. Key Takeaways: Stop relying only on SAM.gov — build a strategic pipeline through relationships Capture starts before the bid drops by tracking projects early and staying persistent The best wins come from being known before the proposal stage If you want to learn more about the community and to join the webinars go to: https://federalhelpcenter.com/  Website: https://govcongiants.org/  Connect with Encore Funding: http://govcongiants.org/funding Join 2026 Surge Bootcamp Starting January 31: https://govcongiants.org/surge

Today I'm joined by Kara, an SEO expert who's been doing this for 5+ years, to break down exactly how search engine optimization works in the age of AI and what you need to do to get discovered online.Google had 5.5 billion searches per day in 2022. We're covering how SEO actually works (it's more than just keywords on your website), the difference between Google search and AI search (and why you need to optimize for both), the EEAT framework (Experience, Expertise, Authority, Trustworthiness) and why firsthand experience now matters more than information, the three essential starting points (optimize your website, build strategic backlinks, create blog content), the shocking stat that businesses with blogs convert at 13 times the rate of businesses without them, how Pinterest acts as true top-of-funnel and drives purchases (not just inspiration), why the information-as-value era is dead and what's replacing it (insight, storytelling, and thought leadership), how to repurpose your podcast or YouTube into SEO-rich blog posts without starting from scratch, and realistic timelines for SEO ROI (6-12 months for local, 12-24 months for broader markets). If you're exhausted from the social media hamster wheel and want traffic that compounds over time instead of disappearing in 24 hours, this episode is your roadmap.Timestamps: 00:52 Welcome to Ambitious: Meet Kara, the SEO Expert03:09 Diving into SEO: Basics and Misconceptions05:27 SEO Strategies: Blogging, Keywords, and Beyond08:44 The Evolution of SEO in the Age of AI12:17 Creating Depth in Content: Beyond Quick Wins17:56 Leveraging SEO for Long-Term Success26:13 Repurposing Content for SEO: Practical Tips31:03 The Role of Pinterest in SEO Strategy35:51 Understanding Pinterest's Role in Marketing37:46 The Importance of ROI in Marketing38:55 Pinterest as a Platform for Action and Inspiration41:17 Optimizing Your Website for SEO47:00 Leveraging AI in Content Creation01:00:01 The Long-Term Benefits of SEOResources Mentioned: Kara's Free Private Podcast: Build it Once, Get Found for MonthsConnect with Kara: InstagramTikTokWebsite To join the Ambitious Network for free, click HERE.
