Most of us want to love people well—especially when they’re hurting—but if we’re honest, we don’t always know how. We worry about saying the wrong thing, doing too little, or showing up too late. And sometimes, because of that uncertainty, we end up doing nothing. That’s why I’m so grateful for this week’s episode of The Love Offering Podcast. I’m joined by Christy Gandy, owner of Lovewell Collective, whose own experience with grief shaped a beautiful mission: helping people show up for others with practical love, kindness, and care—especially in life’s hardest seasons. In our conversation, Christy gently reminds us that loving well isn’t about fixing someone’s pain. It’s about helping them feel seen, remembered, and cared for. Sometimes love looks like presence. Sometimes it looks like a note, a prayer, or a small gift left on a porch. And often, it’s the simplest gestures that leave the deepest mark. EVERYBODY was sure SOMEBODY would do it. ANYBODY could have done it, but NOBODY did it. EVERYBODY thought ANYBODY could do it, but NOBODY realized EVERYBODY wouldn't do it. In the end, EVERYBODY blamed SOMEBODY, when NOBODY did what ANYBODY could have done. Love is the defining mark of a true follower of Christ — not just spoken love, but love that shows up in compassion, sacrifice, and everyday acts of care. In this touching daily prayer and devotional, Rachael Adams, host of The Love Offering, recalls the powerful example of love she witnessed while caring for her mother during a difficult hospital stay. Amid pain and uncertainty, she found beauty in the kindness exchanged between patients, families, and caregivers — living proof that love can flourish even in hardship. Jesus knew we would need each other. That’s why He gave His disciples this new command: to love one another as He has loved us. The early church lived this out so faithfully that they were recognized by outsiders for their radical generosity and unity (Acts 4:32–34). Their love wasn’t theoretical — it was tangible, visible, and transformative. When we choose to love others with that same self-giving, Christlike love, the world takes notice. Love is what sets us apart and points others to Jesus. Whether it’s a word of encouragement, an act of service, or simply showing up for someone in pain, every gesture of love testifies to the Gospel. The world is full of hurting hearts — people longing to know that someone cares. As followers of Christ, we have the privilege and calling to meet them with compassion, grace, and generosity. John 8:48-50, The Jews answered and said to Him, "Do we not say rightly that You are a Samaritan and have a demon?" Jesus answered, "I do not have a demon; but I honor My Father, and you dishonor Me. But I do not seek My glory; there is One who seeks and judges.” We see that Satan's tactics haven't changed. When truth and reality are not on your side, attack the messenger with false accusations. They did it in Jesus' day and still do it today. Censor the truth by demonizing the ones who speak it in hopes people will ignore what's being said and buy into the lie. Beware those who attack the character of people and refuse to seek the truth. The sure way to walk in the truth is to live to love with Jesus. They say He has a demon because He honors His Father and speaks the truth. They totally misunderstood Jesus because He wasn't what or who they were expecting. What can we learn? May we honor all those who honor the Father. That is the spirit of Christ. We honor the Father by loving with Jesus. Jesus honors the Father by loving with Him. Jesus did not seek His own glory after healing people. The Father glorified His Son by healing when Jesus spoke in His name. That's why He said previously that He honored His Father. We follow this pattern as we love in Jesus' name, trusting Him to glorify His name. We don't love so people will give us glory. We should love for His glory and namesake. The Father seeks those who worship Him in Spirit and truth, and He's the One who judges if Jesus' life is the genesis of everyone's worship. We give Jesus the worship He deserves as we love with Him today. I invite you to become a partner in our ministry.
