Next, we hold onto our beers like an 'oh $hit bar' while speaking with a High Sierra four-wheel drive club. Finally, we get ready for fall by bashing two brown ales against each other in our Beer Dome competition. That, and our usual craic on this episode of Life in 16 oz. McElroy is the founder of the Turlock Area Beer Trolls, a type of wine and drink fairy-style group that likes to put a smile on the faces of unsuspecting Turlock recipients. Listen to the podcast to find out more about Jay and his Beer Trolls. (Life in 16 oz. photo/Brandon McCarty) An assortment of beers stand fast, ready to be 'locked and loaded' into several Turlock Area Beer Trolls "beer bombs" slated for delivery later that day. Beer styles are selected based on the recipient's tastes (and the preferences of the beer troll actually purchasing the beer). This assortment of beers was selected by Jay McElroy, the group's founder, who was the day's beer troll. They are some of his favorites and thinks they'll appeal to those on his delivery route. The group operates in the pay-it-forward spirit of wine and drink fairy groups (i.e., he's NOT shaking up the beers to explode). After recording their latest episode, Paul decided he could improve his dart game by working on a throwing technique called, "Three Sheets to the Wind." Brandon happily memorializes their "dart match" and completion of this month's podcast with this selfie. (Life in 16 oz. photo/Brandon McCarty) Brown Ale Bash! Going head-to-head in our latest Beer Dome battle is Big Sky Brewing Company's Moose Drool, out of Missoula, Montana, versus Cigar City's Maduro, out of Tampa Bay, Florida. Find out if Paul wins again! Moose Drool is made with four different malts and three hops, East Kent Goldings, Willamette and Liberty. In this week's episode, we welcome Joel back from his vacation! As the episode got started, Joel and I poured ourselves a pint of Moose Drool, by the Big Sky Brewing Company, but we drank almost all of it before recording! For our FRED Talks segment, Joel talked about surfing ettiquette, while Jose talked about the fact that Pope Francis is the 266th pope, the first being St. Peter. In the main segment of the show, Joel and Jose took some listener questions: (1) what has Joel been up to? (2) Which is better: Star Wars or Star Trek? (3) How does Jose feel about being a dad, and does Joel have any parenting advice? (4) Should we forgive Hulk Hogan and James Gunn? (5) What's our take on conspiracy theories, such as the Sandy Hook false flag conspiracy? In the final segment, Jose talked about Bishop Barron's DVD series on the mass, and Joel talked about Dave Matthew's latest album. But Joel also talked a little bit about President Barack Obama's speech recently in South Africa. This was a fun episode for us, and we look forward to getting more questions from you! Please join us on Facebook and leave us your questions! Next week, we will be having an awesome interview, so you will want to hear that conversation. See you next week! Cheers!
