Zach is feeling bad that his mustache has garnered very little attention. Laura thinks he should keep it. Zach reports back on his experience with his daughter at the  Dave Matthew's Band show. They go on to discuss a bit of some conflict they had right before starting to record. It leads to some great insight into managing one's behavior and reactions even when they are a well-worn habit.  Episode Highlights: Managing Defensiveness and Criticism: Zach and Laura explore the recurring dynamic of defensiveness and criticism in their own friendship, with Zach noting that managing his defensiveness is one of the most important skills for him maintaining a healthy relationship. They emphasize the importance of pausing and choosing how to respond rather than reacting immediately. Confirmation Bias in Relationships: The hosts discuss how confirmation bias can skew perceptions in relationships, using a client story to illustrate how one partner might misinterpret their partner's behavior based on past experiences. The takeaway is to pause and challenge assumptions, asking open-ended questions instead of jumping to conclusions. Relationships as Growth Machines: Laura mentions a phrase from her colleague that “relationships are human growing machines.” The idea is that relationships constantly challenge us to grow, reflect, and improve. The hosts emphasize that relational growth takes time, patience, and a willingness to embrace discomfort. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Toni and Jenny continue their road trip, this time landing in Mt. Vernon, Ohio a little town northeast of Columbus. Yellowbird is an innovative food company that works with over 100 food growers and producers from Ohio to bring the food they grow and harvest to the surrounding community. Some people would call them a CSA (community supported agriculture) but Benji prefers to call his business a foodshed, which is a term used to describe a region of food flows, from the area where it is produced, to the place where it is consumed, including: the land it grows on, the route it travels, the markets it passes through, and the tables it ends up on. He has hit the mark with Yellowbird and has a WHOLE LOT to say about local food and decentralizing our current food system. He gives the PATHPod ladies much to consider and will have anyone who gives this a listen wondering about the origins of the food they eat. Check out Yellowbird or follow them on Instagram at yellowbirdfoodshed and then consider checking into a similar organization in the community where you reside.

Hey Poddy People! This special edition of the newsletter includes the much-anticipated video podcast and the continuation of the audio podcast! We were given the opportunity to zoom record the And That's Why We Drink hosts during their current tour and book release. At this moment, the editing is done and shipped. It's not perfect and it doesn't need to be. So the length of this newsletter will be relatively short.Updates:* I started tabulating overall click-through rates from readers to read a “full review”. We have that percentage and depending on the month it ranges from 10-20%! 10% was last month because of the viral moment from Reddit. The first 12 days of this month have click-throughs at 18%. If anyone has ideas on what benchmarks are out there in these types of cases, please reply back.* Batman Unburied is trending up in search this week on GP thanks to its release on Spotify (Exclusive) and “dethroning” Joe Rogan for the #1 spot news cycle. It was tedious to sift through the hundreds of articles to find a couple of reviews, but I did it! Personal excitement: It's pretty cool to see the analytics in real-time!* Stuttering Awareness Week in SF - Our pod friend, Maya, has been doing some great work on Stuttering Awareness. Her podcast is here. On to my picks this week…Podcast: And That's Why We DrinkGenre: True Crime, ParanormalPublisher: Em Schulz, Christine SchieferAs mentioned above, we had the opportunity to interview the hosts of And That's Why We Drink, Em & Christine. About: Grab your wine and milkshakes and join us every Sunday for some chilling ghost stories and downright terrifying true crime stories. The world's a scary place. And that's why we drink! They are in the middle of a tour, book release, and recording their podcast. Taking the lead in the conversation was a friend of GP, and independent critic, Keelin, from Mentally? A Magpie. Additionally, Keelin contributed to the interview write-up for the GP Blog! Thanks, you Rockstar!Em and Christine did not disappoint. They were super fun and talkative. Made our jobs much easier. Keelin with great questions that Em and Christine commented on how they normally wouldn't get these types of questions that got them thinking. There are even fun stories on what kind of gifts they've received at meet & greets. 200 human teeth being one of them.Learnings on video podcasting: Seeing everyone's reactions and also dropping in some funny visuals was fun. Hopefully, it works.Natalie Griffin • The Game of Nerds“Overall, And That's Why We Drink delivers some dark and disturbing material in a way that is easier to comprehend and come to terms with.”Shoutout to indie podcasters & behind the mic folks. Enjoy and give us feedback!Podcast: Exit ScamGenre: True Crime, CryptoPublisher: Treats MediaThis recommendation came from an unexpected source—my dreams. The current Crypto crash, Dr. Strange's multiverse dreams, and a road trip with Dave Matthew from Dave Matthew's Band all played a role in it. In the end, I woke up to Exit Scam. I dropped it in a blog post if you want the long story.About: In 2018, Gerald Cotten, the founder of Canada's biggest Bitcoin exchange, died under mysterious circumstances during a honeymoon trip to India. His customers were told that the $215 million they'd deposited on the exchange was lost forever — because Gerry had forgotten to leave behind his passwords. But here's the thing: Not everyone believes he's dead. Exit Scam is about what really happened to Gerald Cotten and the fortune that disappeared with him.I looked it up on GP and started listening. It's pretty good so far! The host, Aaron Lammer comes from the podcast, Longform.Nicholas Quah • Vulture“It's kind of a dangerous world that Exit Scam gazes into, and Lammer provides a stabilizing, almost comforting presence throughout.”Just Added:Locked On Celtics - John Karalis, Locked On Podcast NetworkFather Wants Us Dead - NJ.comGhost Church - Cool Zone Media, Jamie LoftusNice To Meet You - Gen-Z Media, WonderyStay Away From Matthew MaGill - Pineapple Street StudiosStay safe, be empathetic, and be kind!Listening with you,Captain RonGreat Pods is your best friend in podcast discovery. I Don't Know How To Love Him Performed by Helen Reddy   I don't know how to love him What to do, now to move him I've been changed yes really changed In these past few days when I see myself I seem like someone else   I don't know how to take this I don't see why he moves me He's a man he's just a man And I've had so many men before In very many ways, he's just one more   Should I bring him down Should I scream and shout Should I speak of love let my feeling out I never thought I'd come to this What's it all about   Don't you think it's rather funny I should be in this position I'm the one who's always been So calm, so cool, no lover's fool Running every show, he scares me so   Yet, if he said he loved me I'd be lost, I'd be frightened I couldn't cope, just couldn't cope I'd turn my head, I'd back away I wouldn't want to know, he scares me so I want him so, I love him so   Howie and I were talking in the car today about our early weeks.  I told him how I would sit out front in my truck and make myself sick before going in to see him, because I was so nervous and didn't want to blow it with him.  He said it reminded him of this song and I told him I had thought so at the time and had written the words down, but it was lost in the computer crash, so I looked it up online today and sent it to him.   We took Jamie and Daniel to see Cats last night.  I paid for their trip to Chicago to see Dave Matthew's Band for her birthday and today we are shopping for a Mac for her to work with.  I close on my refi of the island tomorrow.  I am borrowing 182,350.00 15 years 5% and getting an additional 45,000.00 credit line.  I don't need the money, but couldn't pass up these low interest rates.

3 tips for a better 2020 budget! Dave: Hello this week we are talking about 3 tips for a better 2020 budget. I am Dave Sullivan here part of the marketing team with People Driven Credit Union. I've got a special guest! Matt: I'm Matthew Gage with Greenpath Financial Wellness. Dave: Matthew, why don't you tell us three things people can do to get their budget in line for 2020. What are the first three steps an individual should take to start to black on track with their 2020 budget. Matt: Yes absolutely, that is a question we're getting a lot of people asking right now. We have been very busy this year and budgeting is a big part of that. The first thing individuals need to do is look to simplify everything.  There can be a lot of chaos in budgets in 2020, people are kind of scrambling all over the place especially with the holidays behind us.

Truly our finegan’s wake episode in the sense that it can only be understood if you’re a genius. The boys are joined by nemesis Zach Klug of Litenbuffel and Leah Rinaldi to discuss the ancient muscat grape. There’s a lot of shouting and macho posturing, but to be honest, the ending is a close to a mission statement of Disgorgeous LTD LLC ESQUIRE ETC as you’re likely to ever get, which means it’s a collectors item which will increase in value when the boys sell out and drop a private label Argentinean Malbec. Yes we drank Zach’s wines, thats your Thanksgiving bonus. In this week's episode, we welcome Joel back from his vacation! As the episode got started, Joel and I poured ourselves a pint of Moose Drool, by the Big Sky Brewing Company, but we drank almost all of it before recording! For our FRED Talks segment, Joel talked about surfing ettiquette, while Jose talked about the fact that Pope Francis is the 266th pope, the first being St. Peter. In the main segment of the show, Joel and Jose took some listener questions: (1) what has Joel been up to? (2) Which is better: Star Wars or Star Trek? (3) How does Jose feel about being a dad, and does Joel have any parenting advice? (4) Should we forgive Hulk Hogan and James Gunn? (5) What's our take on conspiracy theories, such as the Sandy Hook false flag conspiracy? In the final segment, Jose talked about Bishop Barron's DVD series on the mass, and Joel talked about Dave Matthew's latest album. But Joel also talked a little bit about President Barack Obama's speech recently in South Africa. This was a fun episode for us, and we look forward to getting more questions from you! Please join us on Facebook and leave us your questions! Next week, we will be having an awesome interview, so you will want to hear that conversation. See you next week! Cheers!

This week (and next week) feature an exceptional conversation with the incredible and legendary bass trombonist (and my former teacher) David Taylor. Just a few of his career highlights include working with Bernstein, Boulez, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis Thad Jones, Charlie Mingus, the Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan, and so many more. In addition to all that, he has commissioned and performed more new works for trombone than anyone else. And now he writes his own music. We cover everything from the studio scene of the 70s to modern music education to how to approach performance. Come back next week for more. This episode features two tracks: 1) Dave Matthew's "Blue Organum" w/trombonist Jim Pugh 2) Excerpt from David's piece "Too Suite" w/The Low Brass Connection
