In this episode, we explore the real-life case of Susan Wright, a Texas woman whose story captured national attention and later inspired the Lifetime made-for-TV movie Blue-Eyed Butcher. We walk through Susan's background, her marriage to Jeff Wright, and how a seemingly ordinary suburban life became the center of a high-profile criminal case. I Am Zozo is a horror film that follows a group of friends who decide to use a Ouija board out of curiosity. During their sessions, the board begins responding aggressively and identifies itself as “Zozo.” As the group continues to engage with it, the atmosphere becomes increasingly tense and unsettling, suggesting that whatever they've contacted grows stronger the more attention it receives. The film leaves it ambiguous whether Zozo is a real entity or a manifestation of fear, making the experience feel disturbingly realistic. In real life, Zozo is a modern paranormal legend that gained popularity through internet forums in the early 2000s. Despite claims that it's an ancient demon, there's no historical evidence to support that. Many experts point to the ideomotor effect, where subconscious movements cause the planchette to move without the user realizing it. Over time, repeated stories and media portrayals turned Zozo into a widely feared figure, showing how belief and suggestion can transform an online myth into something that feels terrifyingly real.Sources:https://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/science-mysteries/zozo-the-ouija-board-demon.htmlhttps://allthatsinteresting.com/zozo-demonhttps://www.nj.com/entertainment/2016/05/zozo_phenomenon_documented_in_new_book_paranormal_corner.htmlhttps://darrenevansparanormal.blogspot.com/https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Am_Zozohttps://www.prweb.com/releases/live_extreme_halloween_paranormal_broadcast_set_for_zozo_ouija_demon_house_in_oklahoma_city_ok/prweb13767920.htmhttps://blogcritics.org/exclusive-interview-tim-wood-darren-evans-on-upcoming-live-stream-of-zozo-paranormal-investigationhttps://www.ranker.com/list/ouija-board-conversations-with-zozo/lowe-saddlerSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Journalist and researcher Brian Baker, founder of The Superstitious Times, joins Haunted Talks to discuss his new book, Eerie Whispers: Exploring Canada's Reluctant Relationship with Its Ghostly Lore. Why is Canada, a country overflowing with ghost stories, so hesitant to talk about them? Brian shares a chilling childhood encounter he has never quite shaken, unpacks his idea of Canada as "the introvert on the global stage," and takes us across the country to explore why some regions embrace the paranormal while others keep it at arm's length. We also dive into Toronto's legendary Philip Experiment, where a group of researchers appeared to summon a ghost they invented, raising unsettling questions about belief, storytelling, and what might be shaping a haunting. Along the way, we explore fear, pop culture, and Indigenous perspectives that challenge the very word "paranormal." If you've ever wondered why Canadians are so shy when it comes to ghosts, press play and find out. If you enjoyed this episode, you might also like: Episode 196 – Spiritualism in Canada, Eh? On this Weekly Spooky Christmas horror special, we're heading back to Strickfield, Ohio for a night of folklore, family traditions, and a Krampus visit that feels a little too real. When Daisy May Donnerly, Carnelian Mirren, and the ever-hungry Ol' McDonald settle in on Christmas Eve, all they're supposed to do is leave milk and cookies for Santa—because on this farm, that's not just a cute ritual, it's a rule. Break the tradition, and the “bad version” of Santa might just come calling. This Christmas horror story blends old-world folklore with cozy country charm and truly chilling consequences. As a sudden blizzard slams the farm and a sleigh appears in the sky, the girls realize too late that the reindeer are skeletal, the driver isn't jolly, and they've accidentally invited Krampus into their home. From ripped-off doors to undead reindeer and a bottomless sack for naughty children, this night of holiday terror pushes Daisy and Carnelian to outrun something you can't escape: broken traditions and disbelief. Perfect for listeners who love Christmas horror stories, urban legends come to life, and eerie anthologies that feel like they could be whispered around a fireplace, this episode combines small-town winter atmosphere with mature themes, jump-scare tension, and a creeping sense that the “dream” might not be a dream at all. If Krampus folklore, cozy-but-deadly farmhouses, and spooky stories set on Christmas Eve are your thing, this tale is going to slide down your chimney and refuse to leave.Pull on a sweater, pour some cocoa, and press play for Milk, Cookies, and Krampus, a Christmas Eve horror story that asks a simple question: What if forgetting Santa's snack meant Krampus came instead?Milk, Cookies, and Krampus — by Rob Fields.

Terrifying & True returns with dark Christmas horror rooted in real Alpine folklore and chilling winter horror stories. Long before cozy Hallmark snowfalls, families in the high Alps spent the Twelve Nights of Christmas fearing a “Christmas Witch” who might reward your hard work… or split you open and stuff you with straw if you broke her rules. This is the terrifying legend of Frau Perchta and her horned horde, the Perchten – where festive lights, fasting days, and spinning wheels turn into a deadly checklist for survival. In this holiday special, we dive into the eerie, mature side of winter tradition, where spooky stories, urban legends, and brutal morality tales kept entire villages in line through the darkest nights of the year. If you crave Christmas horror that feels older and sharper than anything under the tree, this is your episode.Inside this episode:The rules of the Christmas Witch: Why Alpine families raced to finish their spinning, scrub their homes, and eat a strict Twelfth Night meal before Epiphany, terrified that one broken tradition could invite Perchta's knife.Belly-Slitter punishments straight out of horror stories: From trampled weaving to the infamous eviscerations stuffed with straw and stones, we unpack how this gruesome myth drove real-world discipline in a brutal winter landscape. From Bright Goddess to winter monster: How a once-benevolent “Bright One” and Lady of Epiphany was demonized by the Church into a sinister Christmas hag, complete with goose-foot, ragged robes, and a curse-laden black cloth.Wild Hunts and haunted Alpine nights: The chilling tales of Perchta's ghostly procession screaming across the winter sky, dragging lost souls and unbaptized children in her wake, and why villagers locked doors and clutched charms when the wind howled. The Perchten, Krampus, and other holiday terrors: Meet the beautiful and ugly Perchten, see how they inspired modern Krampus runs, and compare them to figures like Belsnickel and Père Fouettard in a full-blown Christmas rogues' gallery.Living traditions in the spooky season: How today's Perchtenläufe—massive parades of horned masks, cowbells, and towering headdresses—keep this eerie anthology of winter legends alive in the mountains, blending folk horror with festival fun. This episode is perfect for listeners who love folklore, chilling stories, and mature themes that turn cozy Christmas nostalgia into something far more eerie, scary, and unforgettable. When the holidays get too sweet, remember: in some places, kids didn't just fear coal in their stocking—they feared Frau Perchta at the door. We're telling that story tonight.
In this episode, Fred shares chilling wilderness accounts that remind us how quickly the familiar can turn unnerving in remote places. First, Margaret and Kyle set out for a simple berry-picking outing—until an oppressive feeling of being watched settles in. What starts as subtle unease escalates when they spot an enormous figure moving nearby, forcing them into a tense, instinct-driven retreat. Then we head to the Alcan Highway, where Jonathan's late-night drive takes a terrifying turn. Alone in his RV, he's jolted awake by violent impacts against the vehicle—an apparent attack by something powerful, unknown, and determined. With nowhere to run and no clear explanation for what's outside, Jonathan is left to endure a long, fear-soaked night on one of the most isolated roads in North America.Together, these stories explore the raw, primal dread that can surface in the wild, the sense that we're not always alone out there, and the haunting questions that linger when encounters defy logic. Nick is joined once again by film critics Erik Childress and Steve Prokopy for another round of movie talk and box office breakdowns. They look at the sluggish November numbers and review several new releases, including “Rental Family” starring Brendan Fraser, the long-awaited sequel to “Wicked,” George Clooney's tense drama “Jay Kelly,” and the over-the-top action spectacle “Sisu: Road to Revenge.” Later, Esmeralda Leon joins Nick to spread the word about an upcoming holiday food drive on Chicago's northwest side. The two then dive into some more pop culture nostalgia with Bond movies, spooky 90s TV classics like “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” and “Eerie, Indiana,” and plenty of laughs along the way. [Ep 405]

In July of 1993, a group of Florida teenagers committed one of the most shocking and senseless murders in modern true crime history. The crime, later dramatized in the 2001 film Bully, was not the work of hardened criminals or masterminds, but of suburban kids. At the center of the story were two childhood friends: Marty Puccio, quiet and impressionable, and Bobby Kent, a young man many described as charismatic but deeply controlling. Those closest to them claimed Bobby bullied, manipulated, and terrorized Marty for years. Marty's friends convinced themselves the only way to escape Bobby's influence was to kill him. What followed was a clumsy, chaotic, and brutally violent attack carried out in a remote swampy area of Broward County. Their plan unraveled almost immediately, leading to multiple arrests, wildly different prison sentences, and decades of debate about what was true, what was exaggerated, and what was simply self-serving testimony. Was Bobby Kent truly the monster the killers claimed he was? Or did a group of teenagers justify murder by rewriting the story after the fact? Experts decoded the mysterious sounds coming from Antarctica's icy waters, and the results are pretty wild. It turns out, these eerie noises are caused by shifting ice, underwater earthquakes, and even tiny sea creatures making sounds we can't normally hear. The massive ice sheets creak and groan as they move, creating deep, rumbling noises that travel for miles. Some of the sounds are also linked to climate change, as melting glaciers release trapped air and water in strange bursts. Scientists are now using these sounds to track how fast the ice is melting and how the ocean is changing. So, what once sounded like something out of a sci-fi movie is actually giving us crucial clues about the future of our planet! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

In this episode, we start with Abducted at an HBCU: A Black Girl Missing Movie a gripping Lifetime film that dives into the disappearance of a young woman at a historically Black college. When a student suddenly vanishes, her counselor refuses to look the other way, uncovering a system that too often dismisses missing Black women and girls. The story is fictional, but its message hits painfully close to home. The film shines a light on how the media and institutions frequently overlook these disappearances. How urgency fades, headlines never come, and families are left to fight alone for attention and answers. From there, we turn to the real-life disappearance of 18-year-old Cleashindra Hall, a decades-long missing person case that deserves to be remembered.Cleashindra, or “Clea,” as her family calls her, was an honors student from Pine Bluff, Arkansas, with dreams of becoming a pediatrician. On the evening of May 9, 1994, she finished her shift working for a local business and called her mother to say she'd be home soon. But Cleashindra never made that second call, and she was never seen again.Over the years, her family has searched tirelessly for answers. There were searches, interviews, and countless leads — yet no arrests have ever been made, and no trace of Cleashindra has been found. Despite the time that's passed, her loved ones have never given up.Like the story told in Abducted at an HBCU, Cleashindra's case reflects a painful reality: when young Black women go missing, the attention they receive rarely matches the depth of the loss. This episode is about remembering her, and about refusing to let these stories fade into silence.Sources: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3odKv1Fin0https://www.the-sun.com/news/11962351/lifetime-abducted-hbcu-black-girl-missing/https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disappearance_of_Cleashindra_HallBlack Girl Gone: The Disappearance of Cleashindra Hall https://www.kark.com/news/local-news/family-of-cleashindra-hall-still-hopes-for-answers-nearly-30-years-after-her-disappearance/https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09Z4loP9G5ghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63MC4OwNYmEhttps://news.morehouse.edu/professor-avery-o.-williams-86-writes-screenplay-for-lifetime-original-abducted-at-an-hbcu-a-black-girl-missing-moviehttps://www.fox16.com/news/only-on-fox16-transcribed-interviews-from-larry-amos-following-teenagers-disappearance/https://www.yahoo.com/news/family-cleashindra-hall-still-hopes-221635171.htmlSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
This is the Husker Doc Talk Podcast — 2025, Episode 16 — with Travis Justice and Dr. Rob Zatechka. If you're watching on YouTube, smash that subscribe button and ring the bell so new episodes land right away. Listening on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or anywhere else? Tap “Follow” so we're always in your queue, and leave a quick review to help more Husker fans find the show. This week, we start with the Saturday night roller coaster in Lincoln. Nebraska had USC on the ropes at halftime, and Travis was ready to declare it Matt Rhule's signature win… until the second half flipped. We dig into the turning points: Dylan Raiola's third-quarter exit, why Nebraska's run fits unraveled, and how a defense that held USC to 337 total yards still surrendered the game on the ground. Dr. Rob walks through the trenches: the interior getting knocked back, contain issues on the edge, and what that means in a Big Ten built on downhill football. Quarterback talk is unavoidable. Raiola isn't the problem — but does TJ Lateef's mobility unlock a different ceiling for this offense? We kick around what a full week of starter reps could look like for Lateef, what the receiver room needs to do to separate, and the difference between “better play-calling” and “good play-calling.” On the bright side: Emmett Johnson keeps carrying the load (29 carries, 165 yards in this one) and is tracking toward an All–Big Ten season. Then it's the stretch run: UCLA, Penn State, and Iowa. Which is the most winnable game — and why are the guys circling Penn State on the road? Rob resets expectations (seven wins feels like the realistic new baseline) and pinpoints the line play improvements from Evans at center and the one-and-done boost from Rocco Spindler — plus where tackle remains a concern. Would a dedicated tackles coach help? (Cue the Brian Ferentz-as-OL-coach debate and a few memes.) We also tackle the “blackout” conversation. Production value? A+. The look? Eerie and cool. But do alternate uniforms move the needle when you're not stacking wins? Travis argues it's a gimmick fans love but recruits don't care about in the NIL era — wins matter most. Agree or disagree, the crowd delivered. From there we zoom out to the national picture: the coaching carousel spinning, big-name jobs opening, and why stability in Lincoln still matters. Rhule's extension makes sense, but staff self-scouting has to be ruthless. Want to build sustainably? We go deep on recruiting philosophy with a Bill Bush-inspired segment: the #1 trait is competitiveness — grit — not just measurables. It's why some overlooked kids become program pillars while five-stars fade. That launches a lively sidebar on in-state QB recruiting (hello, Braylon Warren), relationship equity, and why you still offer your best local players even if the depth chart is crowded. We even sneak in some winning football: Augustana is 9-0 and sitting pretty in its super region despite injuries — Rob's rocking the powder-blue lid and explains DII regional calculus like a pro. Speaking of lids, we commiserate about $50 hats and why the right one is worth it. Shoutouts to the folks who keep this free for you: Orr Law Group — litigation, estate planning, NIL savvy and more. Halloween's a time for spooky stories and urban legends. Here in Western Pennsylvania, there's a story about a man — a spectre with a glowing green face — who you might see roaming around the side of the road late at night. He may have been burned by acid or fire, or maybe got struck by lightning. While those details are squishy, the real story behind "The Monster of Beaver County" is a tragic one. City Cast's Wil Fulton is here to explain how Charlie No-Face left an eerie mark on him as a kid, plus how the Green Man's story has been told and misunderstood by generations of Pittsburghers. Special thanks to City Cast's roving producer Elizabeth Kauma for her work on this one. Music and some sound effects courtesy of Epidemic Sound. **This episode originally published October 18, 2023. In the early 1990s, the college town of Gainesville,Florida was paralyzed by fear. Over just three days, five students were brutally murdered in their own apartments, victims of Danny Rolling, the man the press would call The Gainesville Ripper. His crimes were savage, his methods deliberate, and the terror he left behind felt like something straight out of a horror movie.Years later, screenwriter Kevin Williamson watched a documentary about those killings while home alone. That fear he experienced while watching that documentary became the spark for Wes Craven's Scream (1996). Set in the quiet town of Woodsboro, Scream follows a masked killer who taunts his victims with phone calls and deadly games, blurring the line between fiction and reality. What began as a true story of terror became a movie that made us all ask the same question…“What's your favorite scary movie?”Sources:World's Most Evil Killers: S3,EP13 https://maamodt.asp.radford.edu/psyc%20405/serial%20killers/rolling,%20danny%20-%202004.pdfhttps://www.ksla.com/video/2024/03/29/archives-murders-tom-julie-sean-grissom-shreveport-la-1989/https://www.shreveporttimes.com/story/news/crime/2019/11/08/grissom-family-murders-shreveport-louisiana-gainesville-murders/4157607002/https://www.aetv.com/articles/how-serial-killer-danny-rolling-inspired-scream-with-his-1990-slayingshttps://people.com/serial-killer-gainesville-ripper-danny-rolling-exclusive-11763591https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_Rollinghttps://www.tampabay.com/archive/1993/02/20/5-dead-may-have-been-stalked/https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTvIh8rC4akSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In this episode of the OutThere Colorado Podcast, Spencer and Seth chat about the 'new' 14er, if 'Colorado's cannibal' was actually guilty (and another local cannibal you probably haven't heard about), the eerie history of a remote canyon, speed limits on trails, charging for search and rescue, and more.
The plan is working, and our crew is aboard the BioLife ship, where wave after wave of guards welcome them. It's the fastest slow going you could hope for, while Boris, Trevor, Dr. Ze, The Nine Blades and Vache fight to clear the halls, and our Cleo fights to stay alive. Every BioLife lackey between the rescue team and Cleo is a bag of extracted blood, a few million nanites, a last minute stalling tactic. Regardless, our rescuers have boarded, and it's enough work to stay alive. There is no time to stop and consider the small pull at the edge of their minds... An eerie presence somewhere in the ship. There is something more dangerous than just soldiers here.
