Tonight, Joe's out—so the cryptid chaos begins. Charles takes the captain's chair with Phil Keating and Bob McGough, and the result is equal parts comedy, fandom, and questionable uncle energy. From debating which fictional character you'd trust to babysit your kids (Mary Poppins? Kratos? Lisa Simpson? Definitely not Jared from Subway) to wandering into stories about abandoned luggage, Pokémon nannies, and cosplay so niche only three people will ever get it, this episode doesn't walk the line—it stumbles over it with a beer in hand.Bob dives deep into his love for cryptids (Mothman supremacy forever), Phil nerds out on Nintendo and Final Fantasy while accidentally admitting anime is growing on him, and Charles celebrates a proud dad moment with a side of Demon Slayer hype. Along the way, the trio tackles failure, imposter syndrome, and the power of showing up—even if only three people do.Of course, no “drunk uncle” night would be complete without dad jokes, hot dog confessions, and wild Dragon Con plans. This isn't your average nerd talk—it's family, fandom, and foolishness rolled into one chaotic ride.Highlights you'll hear:The great “fictional babysitter” debate (spoiler: Bulbasaur has vines for a reason)Cryptid confessions and why Mothman wins every timeTrying new things, failing gloriously, and finding joy anywayNintendo loyalty vs. PlayStation bullyingHot dogs, Gizzy Stations, and other unholy obsessionsGrab a drink, roll some dice, and join the madness—because tonight, the dads are nerdy, the uncles are drunk, and nothing is sacred.

A new report reveals that Japan was able to successfully shut down an impressive 84 illegal anime streaming sites thanks to the help of government-supported hackers. Footage from the recently released Demon Slayer movie has been particularly troublesome in recent months.Sankei reports that the Content Overseas Distribution Association (CODA) shared that a new international enforcement project utilizing white-hat hackers has forced the closure of 84 pirate sites as of March 2025. It was reported that the damage caused by illegal uploading of Japanese movies, anime and other entertainment in 2022 was between 1.95 trillion-2.202 trillion Japanese yen per year (~US$13.2 billion-$14.9 billion) -- and this number is likely even larger in more recent years. The Japanese government aims to increase the sale of its content overseas to 20 trillion yen (~US$135.5 billion) by 2033, and a firmer stance on piracy and mitigating its impact is one of the steps it is taking to help promote legitimate content that supports anime and manga creators.https://creators.spotify.com/pod/show/roose366/subscribeFollow For More Content &Streams!Science Podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/5nFXe9dPeWrMpyObyAlrnF?si=7358d1cf32cb45b7Youtube Gaming: https://www.youtube.com/@RooseJp/videosTiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@podcastonanime

A new Japanese report has estimated the earnings of Demon Slayer creator Koyoharu Gotouge, whose royalty income has reportedly reached astronomical figures. With the Demon Slayer manga surpassing 220 million copies in circulation, Gotouge's earnings from royalties are likely immense. At Kadokawa's "World Worldless Manga Contest" panel last year, it was revealed that the royalty income for most manga artists is 10%. Based on this rate, a recent report by Real Sound estimates Gotogue's income from physical comic sales alone to be approximately 10 billion yen (about US$64 million), with digital sales adding even more to that total. This figure also does not even include the ever-expanding economic sphere of the Demon Slayer franchise, which encompasses games, stage plays and merchandise, such as a recent collaboration with convenience store chain FamilyMart that sold 2.4 million items.Support The Podcast!https://creators.spotify.com/pod/show/roose366/subscribeFollow For More Content &Streams!Science Podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/5nFXe9dPeWrMpyObyAlrnF?si=7358d1cf32cb45b7Youtube Gaming: https://www.youtube.com/@RooseJp/videosTiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@podcastonanime

Even before it officially arrives for the general consumer on consoles, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles 2 has already officially surpassed the original game.Per Metacritic, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles 2 has officially reached a rating of 76/100 via the industry-standard review aggregator. That the score comes ahead of the game's Aug. 5 release date isn't anything surprising in and of itself, although the fact that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles 2 has already surpassed its predecessor's more divisive score of 69/100 so early on certainly isSupport The Podcast!https://creators.spotify.com/pod/show/roose366/subscribeFollow For More Content &Streams!Science Podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/5nFXe9dPeWrMpyObyAlrnF?si=7358d1cf32cb45b7Youtube Gaming: https://www.youtube.com/@RooseJp/videosTiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@podcastonanime
In 2020, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Movie: Mugen Train made history, as it became the highest-grossing film at the Japanese box office -- a record it still holds today. Now, in 2025, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Movie: Infinity Castle is looking to be following in its predecessor's footsteps -- but it has several anime movies to beat first, even as it enters the top 10 biggest box office successes of all time in its home country. The newest Demon Slayer movie has become one of the most successful Japanese films of all time, and is now working to surpass the rest of the top 10. The list of the ten highest-grossing films in Japan is still topped by Mugen Train, but that doesn't mean that every member of the top 10 is an anime, or even a Japanese production, although several notable entries are, per Japanese news site Oricon.Support The Podcast!https://creators.spotify.com/pod/show/roose366/subscribeFollow For More Content &Streams!Science Podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/5nFXe9dPeWrMpyObyAlrnF?si=7358d1cf32cb45b7Youtube Gaming: https://www.youtube.com/@RooseJp/videosTiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@podcastonanime

One Piece currently holds the crown as the best-selling manga of all time, on the road to overthrowing even Superman's worldwide sales. However, the popularity of Koyoharu Gotouge's manga is undeniable, as Demon Slayer is on the verge of shattering a record in the industry that even One Piece couldn't match.Demon Slayer is one of the most popular manga franchises of recent years. This is proven by Shueisha's latest report, revealing that Demon Slayer became the 7th best-selling manga in history after achieving 220 million copies in circulation. After this milestone, Demon Slayer's manga is dangerously close to another major record: the highest average sales per volume of all time.Support The Podcast!https://creators.spotify.com/pod/show/roose366/subscribeFollow For More Content &Streams!Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/roosejpKick: https://kick.com/roosejpYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/@Roose366 Youtube Gaming: https://www.youtube.com/@RooseJp/videosTiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@podcastonanime

Demon Slayer has proven time and again that it is not just a momentary anime craze, it is a global box office juggernaut. With the release of Infinity Castle – Part 1: Akaza Returns, the franchise has once again shattered expectations. Within four days, it surpassed ¥7.3 billion (over $45 million), boasting more than five million admissions in Japan alone. That is not just impressive, it is historic. The film has broken the all-time records for Opening Day, First Day, and Single-Day Gross in Japanese cinema, according to Forbes and @kimetsu_off on X. These were not just any records either; Infinity Castle toppled benchmarks set by Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, the previous movie that stunned the world during the pandemic with its $485 million haul.Support The Podcast!https://creators.spotify.com/pod/show/roose366/subscribeFollow For More Content &Streams!Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/roosejpKick: https://kick.com/roosejpYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/@Roose366 Youtube Gaming: https://www.youtube.com/@RooseJp/videosTiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@podcastonanime

Ranking different epochs in the history of Anime isn't for the uninitiated; it requires the wisdom of an Arataka Reigen, the battle prowess of a King from One Punch Man, the pathetic capacity to cry on demand of a Hanagaki Takemichi, and the incredible usefullness of Rock Lock's ability. After much back-and-forth from fans and critics, James Gunn's Superman has been proven to be an unapologetic success. Not only has the film been a massive hit with fans and critics alike, but with an opening weekend box office of approximately $220 million, it's already one of the most successful movies of 2025 and one of the most successful Superman movies, in general.Superman is already a massive success, but that's not the case everywhere. While Superman is doing amazing in the domestic market, it's doing considerably worse in the international market, with Superman only opening to about $95 million internationally and projected to do worse in the following weeks. Many reasons can explain Superman's poor performance overseas, but for Japan, specifically, Superman might be failing because it's in direct competition with the biggest anime movie of the year.Support The Podcast!https://creators.spotify.com/pod/show/roose366/subscribeFollow For More Content &Streams!Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/roosejpKick: https://kick.com/roosejpYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/@Roose366 Youtube Gaming: https://www.youtube.com/@RooseJp/videosTiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@podcastonanime
