Idea: A standup comedy show in a "corgi cafe" where comedians have to compete with corgis for the audience's attention. The corgi may be on stage and there may be a vote or a penalty (such as reduced stage time) for losing against the corgi. Also: corgi vs. doge; the corgi and the comic must abide by the same rules (ex: if the dog barks, the comic can bark); unusual and nightmare comedy shows, such as a show where they shock the comic, a show in an insane asylum, and a show where a baby threw a diaper at the comic Jen Frissina (facebook.com/jen.frissina) Steve Smargon (facebook.com/steve.smargon instagram.com/bipolarmarine) Bruce Umpstead (facebook.com/umpstead instagram.com/bruceumpstead) Tom Walma (https://creativitywasted.com twitter.com/thomaswalma twitch.tv/gameymcfitness) This podcast is part of Planet Ant Podcasts (https://planetant.com) This podcast is powered by Pinecast.

Idea: Underwear with sports team logos or colors on them to be worn on game nights for luck. Also: making your friend wear your team's underwear on the outside of his pants as a penalty for losing a bet; giving yourself a wedgie to show your team spirit; complementary undies for couples; questioning whether "undy" is a real word or whether it's always plural, i.e. a "pair of undies" Jen Frissina (facebook.com/jen.frissina) Steve Smargon (facebook.com/steve.smargon instagram.com/bipolarmarine) Bruce Umpstead (facebook.com/umpstead instagram.com/bruceumpstead) Tom Walma (https://creativitywasted.com twitter.com/thomaswalma twitch.tv/gameymcfitness) This podcast is part of Planet Ant Podcasts (https://planetant.com) This podcast is powered by Pinecast.

Many leaders in education believe there are better ways to represent a student's journey through their K-12 education than letter grades. But what might a richer representation of a student's learning look like and what would it take for us to get there? In this episode of BRIGHT, we chat with Bruce Umpstead, director of statewide programs for IMS Global Learning Consortium, who explains what comprehensive learner records are and why these digital transcripts will be a crucial step toward building a competency-based future.

Today, Maria sits down with Bruce Umpstead. Bruce is a director of State Programs at IMS Global Learning Consortium, the world-leading non-profit organization that operates under the simple principle: “Better learning from better learning technology”. IMS Global brings together the actors of the e-learning ecosystem who are investing in a better future for teaching and learning by collaborating on creating standards for e-learning platforms. During our conversation, Bruce takes us through his own learning journey, starting from his childhood as a US Air Force Military’s son. He shares the impressions his overseas travels left on him that made him eager to always explore adventures and create impact with his life and work. He later talks about his career in Edtech and e-learning, the challenges and the excitement he has experienced over the years. Together, we unpack the future of learning in light of how analytics and big data are creating a better and more personalized learning experience for students. A rare inside look into the future of learning with someone who’s making it happen!
