The Pirates followed up Saturday's encouraging win with one of their ugliest performances of the season, falling 11-1 to the New York Mets and dropping their sixth straight series. Jim and Doug break down a rough afternoon for Jared Jones, another miserable showing by the Pirates against a left-handed starter, the decision to bring Evan Sisk into a bases-loaded situation and the continued decline of Pittsburgh's starting rotation. Jake Mangum provided basically all of the offense, while Camilo Doval and Mason Montgomery were among the few bright spots out of the bullpen. Now 58-62, the Pirates are running out of time to make the kind of run needed to get back into the postseason race. The NS9 Postgame Show is powered by Primanti Brothers. Spencer Horwitz wasted no time making an impact in his return to the Pirates lineup. Horwitz delivered a bases-clearing double to give Pittsburgh an early lead, and the Pirates held on for a 4-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers. Neil and Doug discuss Horwitz's importance to the lineup, another strong performance from Endy Rodríguez, Esmerlyn Valdez walking three times and Bubba Chandler battling through 5.2 innings. They also break down another costly defensive mistake from Nick Gonzales and an encouraging night for the rebuilt bullpen, with Gregory Soto escaping trouble before Camilo Doval and Mason Montgomery slammed the door. The Pirates have now won four straight games against Milwaukee. Can the healthier lineup and new-look bullpen finally help them put together a legitimate run? The Pirates entered the trade deadline with one of baseball's biggest bullpen problems. They left it with Luke Weaver, Camilo Doval, Kirby Yates and Lake Bachar. Alex Stumpf breaks down how each addition fits, why the Pirates finally have legitimate high-leverage options and how the new group could remain together beyond this season. He also examines whether Pittsburgh focused too heavily on the bullpen after injuries to Mitch Keller and Ryan O'Hearn created new concerns in the rotation and outfield. Was fixing the bullpen enough, or should the Pirates have added another starter or right-handed bat? Did we get our first look at the new Buccos bullpen last night? Well, not totally, but we saw a glimpse of how they could work some of the guys in the late innings. In the 4-3 win over Milwaukee, the Pirates were able to use Gregory Soto in the 6th followed by Camilo Doval and Mason Montgomery. What will it look like once the reinforcements show up? Some of the writers around the league didn't care for the Pirates deadline haul. Why? The guys couldn't really find a good reason to say they didn't.

Some of the writers around the league didn't care for the Pirates deadline haul. Why? The guys couldn't really find a good reason to say they didn't. A funny postgame answer from Mason Montgomery. Where are the Pirates ranked in baseball's power rankings? A funny call from Dan's postgame last night. Marlins TV pre-post game host Craig Mish joined the show. Craig was able to give the skinny on Lake Bachar, who the Pirates acquired from Miami yesterday for a few lower-tier prospects. Craig said Lake can be ‘a little out there' like other relievers in baseball. Craig thinks the Marlins got the most out of Bachar, which explains the trade even with Miami in the playoff race. Craig told the guys what to expect from Bachar when he's on the hill. Craig doesn't foresee Bachar as the Pirates future closer, but thinks the 6th or 7th inning could be his home. What's the future like for Lake in Pittsburgh?
The Yankees' decision to dump Camilo Doval becomes a brutal reminder that trade deadline excitement can age terribly. Evan Roberts and Shaun Morash replay their euphoric reaction to last year's deal, admit they had no idea how badly it would fail, and credit Brian Cashman for moving on instead of doubling down on a mistake. As the Yankees wait for more help after adding Luis Garcia Jr., the Mets begin their painful sell-off. Evan calls it a necessary but dark day, refusing to pretend that a collection of unfamiliar prospects is immediately exciting. The returns may become valuable lottery tickets, but for now they only underline how far the Mets have fallen.

Ryan O'Hearn's injury changes what the Pirates need at the trade deadline, but it cannot become an excuse to sell or stand pat. Alex Stumpf explains why Pittsburgh still has to bet on this season, what Spencer Horwitz's return means for the lineup and why Camilo Doval is a worthwhile bullpen addition that does not completely solve the problem. The Pittsburgh Pirates waited until the final hours of the MLB trade deadline before completely overhauling their bullpen. DiNardo, Tyler and Jim react live to the additions of Luke Weaver, Kirby Yates and Lake Bachar, joining the recently acquired Camilo Doval. They break down what each reliever brings, the surprisingly light prospect cost and how the new-look bullpen could be deployed down the stretch. The Pirates undoubtedly improved, but did Ben Cherington do enough? No hitter was added to address the team's struggles against left-handed pitching, no starting pitcher arrived and the news of Mitch Keller's season-ending injury dropped during the show. The crew grades the deadline and discusses whether these moves can push the Pirates into the postseason. The Pirates closed a disastrous series in Cincinnati with a 9-1 loss, dropping three of four to the Reds and five of their last six games overall. Mitch Keller lasted just two innings and allowed seven earned runs, while the Pirates recorded only four hits and struck out 13 times against Chase Burns and the Cincinnati bullpen. Camilo Doval also surrendered a home run during his Pirates debut. With Pittsburgh falling below .500 and losing ground in the Wild Card race, the pressure is now on Ben Cherington to significantly improve this roster before Monday's 6 PM ET MLB Trade Deadline. The Pittsburgh Pirates finally got the response they desperately needed, snapping their four-game losing streak with a 4-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds. Braxton Ashcraft set the tone with five strong innings before a lengthy rain delay ended his night. Carmen Mlodzinski took over and delivered three scoreless innings, allowing Yohan Ramirez to close out the victory and move the Pirates back to .500. Tyler and Jim discuss Ashcraft's bounce-back performance, another dominant relief appearance from Mlodzinski, the offense's continued problems against left-handed pitching and what the addition of Camilo Doval means for the bullpen ahead of the trade deadline. The Yankees losing streak has reached seven games after a brutal extra-inning loss to the Tigers, getting swept by Detroit at home for the first time since 2008. Chris McMonigle is FED UP with the Yanks woes, as he sounds off on the listless offense, Camilo Doval's implosion, the continued struggles of key players like Cody Bellinger in need of stepping up in Aaron Judge's absence, and how much of this losing streak is on Aaron Boone. C-Mac pushes back on the idea that this losing streak is just like previous June swoons (3:30), how Bellinger and Ben Rice are killing the team right now (5:00), the one part where this skid is like previous summer swoons (9:30), the highs and lows of Wednesday's heartbreaking finale (20:50), and the frustration of Yovanny Cruz being sent back to the minors (54:55).
Shaun is in for Tiki as Evan Roberts keeps the New York baseball conversation rolling with frustrated Yankee fans calling in on Cody Bellinger, the pitching staff, Aaron Boone, Camilo Doval, and the team's growing lack of urgency. The Yankees may still have hope because of the state of the American League, but the concern around their slide is getting harder to ignore. The Mets side brings more reaction to Steve Cohen's interview, including questions about Francisco Lindor, Juan Soto, David Stearns, and whether major changes should be on the table. Evan and Shaun also mix in caller debates, a bizarre Blue Jays border story, and a look at the key moments that helped sink the Yankees in another painful loss.
Yankees temperature check after a historically ugly stretch of baseball. With the team sliding and frustration building, the focus turns to Aaron Boone, the decisions that helped cost them another game, and whether Yankee fans are justified in talking seriously about a managerial change. Evan and Shaun break down the bunt call, the failure to use Paul Goldschmidt, the bullpen issues with Camilo Doval, and Brian Cashman's role in keeping the wrong arms around. They also call out Cody Bellinger and Ben Rice for struggling without Aaron Judge, making it clear that the Yankees' problems go far beyond one bad night.

We came up with this title at the end of this episode. If you're brave enough to listen to the end, you'll understand why. But seriously, the Giants have lost 15 of 17 at home and are no where close to orbiting the playoffs. They would have been if they had just played 7-10 in that stretch. They went 2-4 for the week and are now a solid 5 games under .500. So, what are we looking for? Good coaching, quality ABs, playing time for the younger players and prospects, less mental mistakes on the field, anything to give us a glimmer of hope for surging back to .500 and something to build upon for 2026. We also discuss the minor controversy of Heliot Ramos' statement about fans, and wonder if players really tell the truth about things that happen out of the view of reporters and fans alike. One thing is clear, the players have Bob Melvin's back, despite the ire that he has drawn from some of the fan base. We also talk about who's hot, who's not, and that we really don't miss Camilo Doval, and you're welcome, Yankees fans. Have fun with him!www.torturecast.com@torturecastfacebook.com/torturecasthttps://www.instagram.com/torturecast/
