Mark and Mat record live during the Rays vs. Royals Wednesday night game, the fourth and final game of a tough homestand series that Tampa Bay lost three games to one. The score at wrap-up is 5-3 in favor of the Rays heading into the final out of the ninth.Topics CoveredRays June Struggles The guys break down a rough June for Tampa Bay, noting the team has been burning through its early-season buffer. Mat walks through the slugging numbers for the month, where league average sits at .400. Only four Rays batters are above that mark in June: Ryan Vilade (.581), Junior Caminero (.461), Yandy Diaz (.453), and Cedric Mullins (.407). Jonathan Aranda and several others are well below .300, pointing to a lineup in a collective funk.Player HighlightsChandler Simpson makes a strong catch after an earlier error and bounces back with a single at the plateJohnny DeLuca returns and brings energy back to the outfieldJunior Caminero continues to lead All-Star voting at third base and is discussed as a possible Home Run Derby participantRoster Moves The Rays DFA Dom Keegan to acquire right-handed pitcher Chris Roycroft from the Cardinals. Mat profiles Roycroft as a Kyle Snyder-type project at 6'8", comparing his pitch mix to Manuel Rodriguez and his build and arm angle to former Ray Aaron Slegers. Mat notes the Rays may look to add a changeup to Roycroft's repertoire and suggests Keegan could be traded to a team needing first base depth, with the Mets mentioned as a possible destination.Trade Deadline Talk: Byron Buxton Mat makes the case for the Rays pursuing Twins outfielder Byron Buxton. Key points:Buxton is signed at $15 million per year through 2028He has stayed healthy the last two seasonsA package of Cedric Mullins and Jacob Melton could be the framework of a dealAdding Buxton alongside Caminero, Diaz, and Aranda would give Tampa a genuinely fearsome lineupJacob Melton is currently excelling in AAA and is expected to be called up or used as trade bait in early July.Pitching Depth Discussion of starter innings limits and how the Rays are managing their rotation. The Giants are dangling arms including Robbie Ray, though Mat suspects the Rays will prioritize lineup help over adding a starter. Brian Baker is discussed as a more confident and committed closer Minor League Notes The Bowling Green Hot Rods are 51 and 19. The Rays have 15 hitters with an OPS above .800 and more than 100 at bats across their minor league system this season, with only six of those above Double-A.FIFA World Cup Mark and Mat take a detour to discuss the World Cup taking place across the US. Mat talks about attending games in Vancouver with Canadian military personnel, eating barbecue around the clock. They note that the lower alcohol content in American beer has European and Canadian fans drinking more than usual and draining Boston breweries. All three host nations (US, Mexico, Canada) advance out of the group stage. Mat reflects on never seeing Canadian men's soccer at this level in his lifetime, with the team ranked in the top 30 globally.Women's Baseball Mark reminds listeners that the Women's Pro Baseball League launches in August in Springfield, Illinois - https://www.womensprobaseballleague.com/ Women's Baseball Classic group stage takes place in Rockford, Illinois in approximately one month. - https://www.iwbc.org/worldcup/ Local Recognition The Rays recognize the University of Tampa Spartans for their NCAA Division II baseball three-peat and St. Leo's women's softball team for their Division II championship. Mark also mentions a recent conversation with Genelle Helen Garverick about the history of women's softball in the area dating back to the 1940s & 1950's.Remember to like and subscribe to BaseballBiz On Deck. Happy Monday, Daylight Burners. I spent Father's Day doing exactly what I wanted to do: watching baseball and yelling at my kids, and the baseball gods gave us a stupid amount of chaos to talk about. I kick things off with my A's splitting a four-gamer with the Angels in West Sac – Friday night was pure insanity. The A's go up early, the Angels rip off 11 straight, Oakland claws back with bombs from Jacob Wilson and Max Muncy, Jonah Heim ties it with a pinch‑hit two‑run shot down to the last strike, and Big Amish walks it off with a bases‑loaded walk after wearing the golden sombrero all night. Then reality hits: a hangover shutout on Saturday and the bullpen coughing it up Sunday with a late Guzmán three‑run shot and yet another Zach Neto dagger to drop the finale 9–7. From there I roll through the Rockies stealing a legit series from the Pirates – including outdueling Paul Skenes 2–1 at Coors, with Tomoyuki Sugano and Jaden Hill slamming the door and Kyle Freeland hitting 1,000 career strikeouts. I give Freeland a big hat tip as a Denver kid who came all the way up through the Rockies system. We talk about the Tigers absolutely needing a weekend like this and getting it: they sweep the White Sox in Detroit behind Tarik Skubal's second start back from elbow surgery, back‑to‑back “ding dongs” from Dylan Dingler (17th and 18th of the year), and Matt Vierling walking it off in extras. I've been hyping Kaider Montero for a while and he shoves seven innings in that series. Around the league I hit all the big series: Cubs hang 16 on the Blue Jays with Carson Kelly's grand slam and Ben Brown shoving, then Toronto claws back the next day. Reds roll into the Bronx and actually take a series off the Yankees behind Cam Schlittler's 13‑K gem and Chase Burns' eighth straight win, only giving up a solo shot to Ben Rice (his 22nd of the year). Rays edge the Nationals, Marlins quietly sweep the Giants in Miami, and the Brewers avoid a sweep in Atlanta with a William Contreras four‑hit day and Robert Gasser's first win since May 2024. Rangers take a wild set from the Padres, with Wyatt Langford hitting a moonshot into the third deck and Nathan Eovaldi grinding out a win. Astros beat back Cleveland behind Yordan Alvarez's 25th homer, and I'm cashing in on him on my Spinball lineup. Royals and Cardinals trade blows on I‑70 with JJ Wetherholt going deep twice in a 12–10 St. Louis win. Twins absolutely bury the Diamondbacks 16–8 with a 10‑run fifth, 20 hits, then come back Sunday to take the series behind Josh Bell's pinch‑hit RBI and a late rally. Red Sox roll into Seattle, win the series, and force the Mariners to lean on a big Logan Gilbert outing to avoid the sweep. Orioles stroll into Dodger Stadium, beat Yamamoto behind seven scoreless from Trevor Rogers, then beat the brakes off L.A. 12–1 on Father's Day with bombs from Taylor Ward, Colton Cowser, Pete Alonso and Blaze Alexander. Phillies absolutely destroy the Mets: Kyle Schwarber hits three homers on Saturday, adds another on Sunday, and Bryce Harper hits for the first cycle of his career while Christopher Sánchez and Zack Wheeler shove. I close it out with a lap around the standings: Yankees still leading the AL East but wobbling, Cleveland back on top of the Central, Mariners barely clinging to a game‑and‑a‑half lead over my A's in a West where everybody's around .500, Braves still on top of the NL East but feeling the Phillies breathing down their necks, Brewers holding serve in the Central, and the Dodgers doing Dodgers things despite dropping a series to Baltimore. Then I look ahead to tonight's slate: Garrett Cole vs Framber Valdez, Hunter Brown vs Dylan Cease, a Japanese‑on‑Japanese matchup with Shota Imanaga vs Kodai Senga, a big Brewers–Reds set in Cincy, Dodgers at Twins in what might be an “over” special, Guardians–White Sox for the AL Central lead, and more. A's are off today before heading into San Francisco for a huge three‑game set with Aaron Civale vs Robbie Ray in Game 1, and I lay out why Oakland needs at least two wins there before they see the Angels again. Hope all you dads had a good Father's Day. I know I did. Don't let your butt crack show, and move your ass – we're Burnin' Daylight. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Hour 1: The San Francisco Giants are in a state of flux, and it's not just the weather in Atlanta that's causing uncertainty. As the team prepares to take on the Braves, rumors are swirling about potential trades and the future of key players like Logan Webb, Luis Arraez, and Rafael Devers. This episode of the Murph and Marcus Show delves into the latest news and analysis, with Kerry Crowley filling in for Brian Murphy. The Giants are currently 14 games under .500, and it's clear that they're not just looking to make a few tweaks to their roster. With the trade deadline looming, the team is reportedly testing the waters, putting out feelers on players like Luis Arraez and Robbie Ray. But what does this mean for the future of Logan Webb, who's under contract for two more years? Is he a part of the rebuild plan, or will he be the ace that the Giants need to compete in the National League West? The conversation also touches on the importance of pitching, with the Giants' lack of depth in the minor leagues a major concern. Can they afford to trade away Logan Webb, or will they need to hold onto him to cover innings for the team? And what about the other players on the trade block, like Matt Chapman and Willie Damas? Will they be moved, or will they be part of the core that the Giants are building around?See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Buy Low/Sell High: Why Brandon Nimmo's underlying metrics make him a must-acquire target, and why Randy Arozarena's shift to a high ground-ball rate is a massive red flag. Inside the Analysis: Week 7 Deep Dive The Week 7 landscape is defined by "superstar struggles." The crew dives into the perplexing case of Fernando Tatis Jr., who maintains an elite hard-hit rate but is suffering from a 2-degree launch angle, causing him to pound contact directly into the dirt. This lack of "lift" is a recurring theme for several early-round picks who are currently underperforming their expected stats. On the pitching side, the show explores the surge of Michael McGreevy and Cameron Schlittler. While McGreevy has been dominant for the Cardinals, Joe warns that maintaining his current ERA may be difficult depending on upcoming matchups. Meanwhile, Corey makes a strong case for Jesus Luzardo as a top-15 pitcher profile that is currently being undervalued because of a low left-on-base percentage rather than a lack of "stuff". Finally, the Riley Greene and Robbie Ray "Sell High" windows are examined. With Greene sporting an unsustainable .552 BABIP over the last month, the crew agrees that cashing in on his current .325 average is the optimal move before regression hits. Munaf Manji and Dave Essler talk betting for Tuesday Michigan is a national champion, Uncle Diamond Dave Esler cashed a 5-to-1 futures ticket, and there are still three MLB games, two NBA matchups, and a Masters first-round leader portfolio to get through before the week really starts. That is the agenda on this Tuesday, April 7th edition of Cash That Ticket on the Straight Outta Vegas AM feed, hosted by Munaf Manji alongside Dave Esler. The show opens with a full championship recap of Michigan's 69-63 victory over UConn, breaking down how the Wolverines won despite shooting just 38 percent from the floor and going 2-of-15 from three-point range, leaning instead on a 25-of-28 free throw performance and a 36-22 edge in points in the paint. The guys walk through the sharp money signals on the spread, why the total was never going to go over once the pace was established, and why UConn fans have no real basis for their free throw complaints given how the Huskies are built offensively. On the MLB side, Munaf and Dave break down three Tuesday games starting with the Dodgers and Blue Jays in Toronto for Game 2, where Yoshinobu Yamamoto faces Kevin Gausman in what projects as a low-scoring first-five-innings battle worth playing both from the under and the Toronto run line. Dave makes the case for Gausman's historically dominant start to 2026 as genuine value against the Dodgers price, flagging Max Muncy as the one hitter with the résumé to hurt him, and declines to lay the full-game number on Los Angeles given continued bullpen concerns. The second game sends the Mariners to Arlington, where George Kirby carries a jaw-dropping career record against the Rangers into a matchup against Nathan Eovaldi, who has allowed 11 earned runs in fewer than nine innings this season. Munaf names Kirby and Seattle at minus-120 as his official best bet of the episode. The third game features Cristopher Sánchez and the Phillies visiting Oracle Park against Robbie Ray and a Giants team that has gone 1-and-7 since opening weekend, with Dave pointing to the first-five Phillies run line and the under as his preferred structure in a pitcher-friendly park. The NBA card covers Boston hosting Charlotte in a game that means considerably more to the Hornets, who are scrapping for seeding in a tight play-in race, while the Celtics essentially mark time before a more consequential Thursday matchup with New York. Both hosts like the under, backed by back-to-back regular-season meetings that stayed well beneath their respective totals and top-ten defensive ratings from both clubs over the last ten games. The late game puts a streaking but arguably fraudulent Rockets road run to its toughest test yet in Phoenix, where the Suns are a strong home team and both Dylan Brooks and Jalen Green will be facing former employers with something to prove. Dave takes Phoenix, and Munaf agrees. To close, Dave delivers the week's first Masters betting segment with first-round leader plays for Thursday's opening round at Augusta National, building a plus-money portfolio anchored by Bryson DeChambeau and Scottie Scheffler as proven top-five finishers in round one, Adam Scott at an eye-opening 50-to-1 given his current form on approach shots and first-round scoring, Chris Gotterup at 39-to-1 in his Augusta debut, and Jason Day at plus-475 to finish in the top ten after round one, a number Dave considers well below fair value given Day's documented history at this course. Dave's official best bet for Tuesday is the Yankees to win the first five innings against Oakland on the run line at minus-140 with Cam Schlittler dominating a lineup that has never faced him. Hour 1: Silver & JD kick off Friday with a Thursday night recap of the Giants' 7-2 win over the New York Mets. After the Mets scored an early run off of Robbie Ray, the Giants answered with three of their own in the bottom of the first and never looked back. The big story of the night was catcher Daniel Susac going 3-for-3 with a walk in his first major league start, and his entire family was in attendance and LOVING it. Well, maybe not his nephew who was getting rocked around by his father, but hey, it made for tremendous television. You're a champ, little man!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
