It was not a happy new year for St. John's as their lack of toughness reared its ugly head again this season. Soft interior play, the inability to handle adversity, and not being able to put away a struggling Providence team led to the worst loss of the season on Saturday afternoon. A 33 points 15 rebound effort from Zuby Ejiofor was wasted because of St. John's inability to make a shot all second half.
