I love sitting down at a table with people who are new to TTRPGs. New players are the best! They bring such life and nuance to games without any presumptions and expectations about what a game "should be." Though it can be kinda tough to get them out of their shell and I guess teaching them the mechanics of a game can take a while. You know what? There's nothing like a veteran player that knows the game and can sit down with a filled out character sheet and is ready to roll. I love playing with experienced players; they're the best! Which do you prefer? Today I'm joined by Chris Hussey aka The Hussman to talk about players old and new. What's so great about new players? Why is playing with the veterans of the game a great time? What are some struggles you might face with either type of player? How do you work with them? Well fret not cause we've got all the answers for you. Glorious White-Knuckled, God-Fearing, Spun-Out-And-Half-Turned-Over Racing Stories
There's nothing like a session of of some good old fashioned, hard core bench racing. Tony "Rambo" Liberati, Chris Hussey, Gere Kennon and Buddy Parrott all worked together once at Roush Racing, and it's safe to say the stories were free flowing. From bull riding gone bad to an unwanted visit to Bill France Jr's office, the group looks back at their most embarrassing moments as part of the NASCAR industry over the years. It's safe to say this is where things get spun out and half turned over.
Ashton and friend of the pod Chris Hussey do a deep dive on two insanely different tracks, Metropolitan Golf Links (Oakland, CA) and The Course at Wente Vineyards (Livermore, CA). Metro was designed by Johnny Miller, plays as a links-style course, has excellent views of downtown San Francisco and is adjacent to the Oakland airport so planes are constantly flying overhead. Wente was designed by Greg Norman and has some unbelievable views, especially from scenic vistas overlooking both the course and the vines. It definitely feels like a place where a golf course was never meant to go which gives players some challenging shots. If you don't execute at Wente, you're going to get lit on fire.

In the last episode for the series Ryan speaks with Cheltenham Town's Chris Hussey. Chris has just enjoyed one of the most memorable seasons in his career to date with Cheltenham as they won the League Two title, even scoring the goal that confirmed their promotion, a beautiful free-kick versus Carlisle that's well worth searching for on YouTube. We also look back on Chris' days with AFC Wimbledon, Coventry, Burton Albion, Bury and Sheffield United.Chris speaks candidly about his experience of battling with anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder, and the coping mechanisms he has learned to manage the condition on a daily basis. But also how he has learned to channel his obsessive behaviours to better himself on a personal and professional level, including creating an app in lockdown to help struggling local businesses in his area. It's a must listen and the perfect end to series one of the podcast. The podcast will be back later this year for season two. In the meantime, keep an eye on our social media channels to see how the podcast and our listeners will soon be able to contribute towards charities, and some of the worthy causes we discuss here.Enjoyed this episode? On our latest road trip, we headed down to the hills and deserts of Southern California. With our friends Chris Hussey and Producer Jack, Uncle Gil (Hanse) gave us a beautiful day at Soule Park (Ojai) for the first time, and we also visited Rustic Canyon (Moorpark) the same day. We then spent a 36-hole day on the Golf Club at Terra Lago (Indio). Our last stop was at Ram's Hill (Borrego Springs). Listen in to our experiences, which were full of surprises, beautiful golf, Mr. Worldwide, one bad (but forgivable) hotdog, a broken tooth, and only one major letdown.
Adam Petty's fatal accident on May 12, 2000 jumpstarted a conversation about safety in NASCAR that would reverberate throughout the sport. The young man had grown up in the spotlight of racing royalty, and was the fourth-generation heir apparent to the Petty dynasty. In this episode, host Rick Houston; Chris Hussey, Adam's crew chief at the time of the accident; and Kyle Petty, Adam's father, discuss their memories of Adam, the accident and its impact on their lives.
In Episode 5, we sit down with Chris Hussey: operations manager of Petty's Garage in Level Cross, NC. Chris is a native of Asheboro, NC and has an impressive racing resume. From working with the Labonte's in the Busch Grand National days, to changing tires for Mark Martin, spotting for John Andretti, and serving as Adam Petty's crew chief, Chris is as knowledgable as they come and generously shared a number of priceless stories from his career.
Cheltenham Town footballer (former Sheffield United and AFC Wimbledon player among others) on facing Manchester City (six times winners of the cup) in the FA Cup this weekend. Chris is battling injury to be fit for the game and, as someone who's studied sports psychology, talks about the mindset required to pull off an upset.
Chris Hussey is currently playing left wing-back for Cheltenham Town FC. He's previously played for AFC Wimbedon, Coventry City, Burton Albion, Bury, Sheffield United and Swindon Town. Chris left school with just one GCSE, but has recently qualified with a first class degree in Sports Science and plans to train to be a sports psychologist. Here Chris talks about his career and how he's learned to cope with severe anxiety and insomnia.

https://therpgacademy.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Film-Studies-Bone-Tomahawk.mp3 It's June! Time to kick off your summer with another RPG Academy “Film Studies” episode. And what better way to celebrate summer than with some heat of the wild (and in this case, slightly weird and horrific) West. Chris Hussey from The Adventures of Young & Holt, sits down with Michael, May and Kali to discuss that “other” Kurt Russel-led western, “Bone Tomahawk.” As a reminder, for Film Studies, members of the Network sometimes joined by non-Network guests, will review a film and discuss ways it could inspire tabletop RPG adventures, characters or practices. The rest of the posse, as mentioned is Michael from the Redemption podcast, Kali from Riff & Rabble and May from Return to Greyhawk. The next film in our curriculum will be The Never Ending Story. (spoiler - it ends!) Let us know ahead of the recording if this movie inspired you some tabletop RPG adventures and maybe we will discuss your contribution on the show. If you'd like to purchase a copy of the movie we discuss AND support our show you an use our Amazon.com affiliate link.
