Amerant Investments chief investment officer Baylor Lancaster-Samuel talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about shifting investor sentiment toward Latin American debt markets following recent US-led intervention in Venezuela and the broader implications for corporate credit spreads across the region. Lancaster-Samuel explained that despite geopolitical tensions, credit markets have reacted constructively. Venezuelan sovereign and corporate debt have rallied on expectations of a potential restructuring, while the broader Latin American credit complex has tightened in sympathy. She noted that markets are pricing in optimism around renewed US strategic interest in the region and the possibility of stronger trade ties. Addressing concerns about oil markets, Lancaster-Samuel emphasised that Venezuela accounts for less than 1% of global oil production, limiting immediate global supply impacts. While rehabilitation of Venezuelan oil infrastructure could increase production over time, she said the short-term effect on global markets remains minimal. Higher oil prices have provided some support to energy producers in countries such as Colombia. She also highlighted idiosyncratic pressures in Brazil and noted that Mexican corporates may experience volatility ahead of USMCA renegotiations. However, her baseline expectation is that an agreement will ultimately be reached. Importantly, Lancaster-Samuel stressed Amerant Investments' disciplined investment approach: “We are very focused on fundamentals and analysis on each specific company.” She added that spreads in Latin America “tend to be wide” due to geopolitical fears, but investors are being compensated for that risk. Concluding, she stated, “We're actually very positive on Latin America at this time.” For more expert insights on global markets, visit Proactive's YouTube channel, give this video a like, subscribe to the channel and enable notifications so you never miss future content. #LatinAmerica #EmergingMarkets #FixedIncome #CreditMarkets #Venezuela #USIntervention #CorporateBonds #DebtMarkets #OilMarkets #InvestmentStrategy #AmerantInvestments #Geopolitics #Mexico #Brazil #Colombia

This episode also uncovers the powerful rotational theme driving sector performance, highlights record-low valuations in gold miners, and breaks down key economic drivers like the “Trump economic miracle,” the innovation revolution, and a global reflation trend. Kip Herriage shares actionable insights on why he believes this bull market could be the best of our lifetimes, what indicators to watch for a true market top, and why he's keeping a close eye on gold, silver, and Bitcoin for big moves ahead.

Trump's Fed chair pick sent a quiet but massive signal. Kevin Warsh understands QE failed, asset inflation broke the system, and discipline has to return. He sees Bitcoin not as a threat, but as a market check on bad policy. This is why the macro shift favors Bitcoin far more than most realize.SPONSORS✅ Lednhttps://www.nmj1gs2i.com/9W598/9B9DM/?source_id=podcastSimply Bitcoin clients get 0.25% off their first loanNeed liquidity without selling your Bitcoin? Black Pink fandom, music video nostalgia, and why hawkish is apparently the Fed's favorite bird. This week on Lumber Slingers, we cover a packed news cycle-starting with pop culture and ending deep in the lumber markets. We break down the surprise nomination of Kevin Warsh as the next Fed Chair, what his historically hawkish stance could mean for inflation and interest rates, and why the Fed's decision to hold rates steady still leaves housing in limbo. Mortgage rates hover just above 6%, applications are down, and everyone's waiting for a real catalyst. On the lumber side, consolidation continues at full speed. We also highlight key leadership appointments across the industry and preview earnings season, including Weyerhaeuser's latest results. To wrap it up, we check in on lumber pricing momentum, which continues to trend upward month-over-month—suggesting demand may be firmer than expected heading into February. Lets be optimistic!

As CEO of financial services giant Legal & General, António Simões plays a huge role in the UK economy, not to mention in the financial wellbeing of tens of millions of people. From managing pension funds to massive infrastructure spending around the country, he oversees well over a trillion dollars' worth of UK assets. Simões took the top job at the beginning of 2024, and he tells Will Bain how from the start he has been dedicated to maintaining a corporate culture with a healthy work-life balance.Bullish on the UK economy, Simões says the country sometimes spends too much time ‘talking itself down' and that with its fundamental strengths the UK is one of the most stable economies in the world. But, he says, there are still big worries for young Britons' futures. He tells Will he's concerned about the low levels of pension enrolment around the country and says more financial education is needed for people to understand the “eighth wonder of the world”: compound interest. He also tells Will about L&G's massive investments around the country, from digital infrastructure and energy storage to affordable homes. And he says that despite a backlash against ESG and diversity programmes in recent years, he believes those are essential to ensuring returns for investors, and the country, far into the future.
