Deborah Thomas (Dai Morris' Sis) tells her side of the story In 1999 in the small Welsh Village of Clydach just outside of Swansea three generations of a family were brutally murdered The community were shocked and demanded answers and not long after the murder there were 3 prime suspects who looked to have motive and evidence stacked up against them The problem was the suspects were all Police Officers within the local force and although 2 were arrested and questioned they were released on bail with no further action This left distaste for all living and working within Clydach & over a year later the Police said they found the man accountable of the crime Dai Morris was known to the Police and although he was no angel his friends & family members were shocked at the thought it was Dai, but the evidence the Police had showed it was him. He was sentenced to Life in Prison. Now over 20years later and with the recent documentary ‘Murder in The Valleys' on Sky, public interest is on the rise. Dai Morris died in Long Lartin Prison over a year ago but the family hasn't give up on clearing his name. They say he's innocent & if you haven't watched the documentary I suggest you do to see why. It's SHOCKING! Did Dai Morris really do it? Or was it another miscarriage of justice by South Wales Police
**This Episode contains descriptions of a graphic nature, including crimes against children. Listener discretion is advised**The crime that took place on a Sunday morning in 1999, was so gruesome that it was described as an "orgy of savagery" by the prosecuting counsel. Four people from the same family lost their lives in the lower Swansea Valley during an attack that resulted in the most extensive murder investigations ever carried out by South Wales Police.Eventually, a man was arrested, convicted and sentenced to prison for the murders of Mandy Power, her two daughters, Katie and Emily, and her mother, Doris Dawson. And still, many feel like the wrong person was brought to justice for the crime.I'd love you to share your feedback with me by leaving a review for the show. 23 years ago in Clydach Wales, a 3 generational family of 4 were savagely murdered in their own home. After digging, police found one of the victims, 34 year old Mandy Power was having a lesbian affair with the wife of a cop. The cop and the wife were arrested after one of Mandy's neighbors told police she saw the cop at Mandy's home days before she was murdered and what's more the cop was screaming at Mandy, to leave his wife alone. The cop and his wife were released due to lack of evidence and someone else became the top suspect. The Clydach Murders was the largest and most expensive criminal case in Wales history.Promo for HLN's Forensic Files II Blanket of Denial airs July 31 @ 10 pm ESTMagic Mind - https://www.magicmind.co/rainbowUse Promo Code: RAINBOW20 for 20% off instantlyhttps://pnwtruecrimefest.com/Intro: Black Moons by The 126ersOutro: Subtle Betrayal by SYBSResources:https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/17474286/clydach-murders-alison-lewis-mandy-power-david-morris/https://www.itv.com/news/wales/2022-02-09/the-true-story-of-the-clydach-murders-wales-biggest-police-investigationhttps://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/who-murdered-mandy-power-family-8196744https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-wales-55721852https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-wales-58285620https://lasvegasweekly.com/news/archive/2006/aug/03/the-strange-death-of-kathy-augustine/https://www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna19511361https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2195247/Dallas-Augustine-Jessie-McCaskill-deaths-Daughter-poisoned-lawmaker-dead-shooting-wife-lesbian-murder-suicide.htmlhttps://www.reviewjournal.com/crime/courts/daughter-of-lawmaker-killed-in-2006-found-dead-in-apparent-murder-suicide/
Mandy Power, 34, her daughters Katie, 10, and Emily, eight, and her mother Doris Dawson, 80, were found bludgeoned to death and their house set on fire in 1999. This case has become know as the 'Clydach Murders' and Dai Morris was sent down for it. Join me in my latest true Crime episode where I take apart this case.

In 1977 Mike llewellyn almost became one of the few players in cricket history to strike a ball over the tall and imposing Pavillion at Lords. His feat came during the Gillette Cup Final against Middlesex, with the aggressive left hander having started his innings with two fours and a six off Mike Gatting. Then came his enormous blow, off the bowling of England off spinner John Emburey, as Mike hit a ball into the gutter on the roof of the famous building. We talk to him about his childhood in Clydach, his experiences on the ground staff at Lords and his playing career with Glamorgan. We also hear about Mike's transition to being a businessman in the years after finishing in the first class game. There are lots of laughs (mainly form Mike!) along the way as he gives us a flavour of what it was like being a county cricketer in the 70s and 80s.
In June 1999 a fire broke out at 9 Kelvin Road in Clydach, Wales. By the time emergency services arrived the residents: Mandy Power, her 80 year old mother Doris and Mandy’s 2 daughters Katie, 10 and Emily, 8 were all dead. But the cause of death wasn’t the fire; they had all been savagely beaten to death. All of the evidence, including a discovery made inside Mandy, pointed at a possibly grotesquely sexual motive and a potential police cover up... Even if you live in a small town, you might have heard of one or two cases that happened nearby. For this week, we’re visiting the country of Wales. Although part of the United Kingdom, Wales has its distinct identify. But like any place, crime also happens here. These are 5 Terrifying Murders from Wales. 5. Peter Moore Murders It’s one thing to love horror films, but for British serial killer Peter Moore, he took his love for the character to a whole new level. Moore comes from North Wales. He ran a movie theatre cinema for his daily business and job. A fan of horror films, he was particularly fascinated with Jason Voorhees, the vicious serial killer in the Friday the 13th films. 4. Megan and Harry Tooze It was in July 1993 at a farmhouse close to Llantrisant, South Wales where an elderly couple, Megan and Harry Tooze were found brutally killed. Tooze (67) and his wife, Megan (65) were discovered dead in a cowshed at their farm. Both were shot in the head with a shotgun and then covered in a carpet. 3. Harry Baker On the morning of August 28, 2019, police were called at around 5:50 am regarding a disturbance at the Barry Intermodal Terminal in South Wales. When police got there, they discovered the dead body of 17-year old Harry Baker from Cardiff. Baker’s family describes him as a “fun-loving son and brother” who always believed that family time was precious. His family and friends are shocked at what happened and are at a loss for the incident. 2. Karen Price It was on July 2, 1981, when 15-year old Karen Price from Cardiff, Wales was last seen. Price, at the time of her disappearance, was living at a residential children’s home. It’s unclear whether she has any parents or relatives who looked for her. 1. Clydach murders When first responders and journalists arrived at the small town of Clydach, they thought they were there to report on a tragic fire. It wasn’t until a press conference by the officers revealed the true horror of the incident.
