Today, Ivelisse talks with Dr. Dan Rubin, a naturopathic oncologist and co-founder of Naturopathic Specialists in Scottsdale, Arizona, about an emerging cancer treatment called dendritic cell therapy.Dr. Rubin explains in simple terms how dendritic cells act like “generals” of the immune system—gathering information about a tumor and teaching the body's T cells how to recognize and attack cancer. He discusses Immunocine's “double-loaded” dendritic cell therapy, which uses information from a patient's own tumor to help train the immune system in a more personalized way. This treatment is currently offered in Cancun and is also being studied in U.S. clinical trials for certain cancers, including glioblastoma and pancreatic cancer. They walk through what the process looks like for patients—from application and medical record review, to traveling for tumor sampling, collecting immune cells, and receiving a series of injections. Dr. Rubin also shares how tumor tissue can be stored for possible future use and talks honestly about outcomes, cost, and the importance of ongoing testing to determine who may benefit most. This episode provides hope-filled, easy-to-understand insight into a personalized, immune-based approach to cancer care for patients and caregivers alike.Learn more about Dr. Dan Rubin. Suggested Resources:Naturopathic Specialists in Scottsdale, AZAiresTech Products for EMF protectionHAVN by Lambs - EMF defracting productsImmunocine (Cancun)Immunocine Preserve (Biobank in Scottsdale)Send us Fan Mail! Private listening is recommended if children are nearby. For many women in their late 30s, 40s, and 50s, treating metabolic dysfunction with a GLP-1 is only part of the story. Labs may improve. Weight may shift. But sleep changes. Mood feels different. Body composition moves in unfamiliar ways. Libido quietly declines.Perimenopause and menopause often unfold alongside metabolic treatment, and the hormonal transition can complicate everything. In this episode, we connect midlife hormone changes with metabolic health. Dr. Cathleen “Dr. Cat” Brown, board-certified OB/GYN and Medical Director at Winona, joins us along with Kelly Miller, Winona Patient Ambassador, to discuss what's happening during perimenopause and menopause, why hormone replacement therapy is back in the conversation, and what changed after the black box warning. We also speak candidly about sexual health in midlife, an area that rarely gets the honesty it deserves. For women navigating GLP-1 treatment or broader obesity care, this conversation widens the lens. "I found proof he was cheating—but was snooping really what I needed to finally leave?” This week's Fan Mail comes from a listener in Dublin, CA, who, after reading Dr. Kerry's book "Love You More," recognized her own relationship mirrored Dr. Kerry's experience, including the urge to snoop. In this episode, Dr. Kerry explains why the urge to snoop is actually all the evidence you need that something's wrong and why finding "proof" never actually breaks the cognitive dissonance.  Follow on Apple Follow on Spotify Submit Your Question If you'd like your question addressed on air, send it here:

When Our Adult Children Walk Away
Aligning Your Communication With Your Adult Child's Perceptions

When Our Adult Children Walk Away

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 17, 2026 24:52

It's natural to feel compelled to reach out to fix things at every level of estrangement. We've been taught to pursue, talk, challenge, and perhaps even expect certain aspects of a relationship with our adult child. You want closeness, but every “fix it” attempt seems to push your adult child farther away. The tension escalates, accusations worsen, and hurtful words or actions become more personal. It makes no sense, and the confusion turns to helplessness. Well-intentioned friends, family, and therapists may advise you to walk away. To close the door. However, is that really what you want? What if there is another option? In this episode, Dr. Janet shows you how concrete self-reflection, neutral consideration of both perspectives, and humble authenticity can change that. You will take the first step to see your communication style and behaviors through your adult child's eyes. You will begin to consider your own communication patterns (e.g., tone, timing, word choice, and intensity) and the power of modifying your communication in real time. You will consider the importance of regulating emotions in the moment and the value of modeling actions that invite trust. Remember, moving through estrangement to rebuild trust and establish healthier communication is at the heart of a new and healthy relationship with your son or daughter. This isn't a sprint; it's steady, observable change your adult child can feel—even from a distance. If you're ready to rebuild calm, clarity, and compassion, this is your starting line.Related EpisodesMom, Mentor, Grandma: Flexing Roles Without Fueling the Fire of EstrangementWhen the Green Monster Rears Its Head: Jealousy and EstrangementWhen Communication Becomes a Power Struggle: Power, Influence, Gaslighting and Coercive Control6 Tips to Proactively Give Space to Your Adult Child and Avoid Misrepresentation#FamilyEstrangement #EstrangedAdultChild #ParentReconnection #ParentalAlienation #ReconnectionStrategist #EstrangementSupport #ParentAdultChildRelationship #EmotionalRegulation #Boundaries #TrustBuilding #CommunicationSkills #EstrangementGrief #MothersOfEstrangedDaughters #FathersOfEstrangedSons #RepairingRelationshipsHi Listeners. Critic and essayist Jason Guriel joins to talk about Fan Mail and how cultural criticism curdled once gatekeepers vanished and celebration replaced judgment. He makes the case that abundance without curation doesn't democratize culture so much as drown it, leaving readers unsure what's worth their time—or why craft should matter at all. Plus, an analysis of Jack Smith's combative testimony before Congress and how "perjury traps" function when politics, not truth, is the goal. Also, dueling descriptions of Donald Trump at Davos—Pericles to admirers, shambolic horror show to skeptics—and what the split says about our fractured attention economy.
