In this solo episode of Wild & Waking, I'm sharing a beginner-friendly introduction to the Wheel of the Year - a seasonal calendar shaped by the solstices, equinoxes, ancient traditions, and natural rhythms of the Earth. After spending the past year learning about and experiencing each seasonal celebration for myself, I'm walking you through all eight sabbats: Mabon, Samhain, Yule, Imbolc, Ostara, Beltane, Litha, and Lughnasadh. As a farm wife living in rural Illinois, so much of the Wheel feels deeply familiar: planting, growth, harvest, release, dormancy, and beginning again. It offers a framework for noticing what is happening in nature and considering how those same cycles are unfolding within our motherhood, work, creativity, relationships, identities, and personal evolution. This episode is an invitation into seasonal living, nature-based spirituality, and a more intentional relationship with time without requiring elaborate rituals or any particular spiritual identity. The Wheel of the Year reminds us that nature doesn't bloom all year, and neither do we. There are seasons for beginning, growing, gathering, releasing, grieving, resting, and waiting for the first spark to return. In this episode, I explore:What the Wheel of the Year is and how its eight seasonal sabbats connect us with the natural rhythms of the EarthThe solstices, equinoxes, and ancient Gaelic festivals that form the modern Pagan calendarA beginner-friendly overview of Mabon, Samhain, Yule, Imbolc, Ostara, Beltane, Litha, and LughnasadhThe history, folklore, themes, symbols, colors, foods, rituals, and seasonal intentions associated with each sabbatHow modern traditions overlap with ancient seasonal customsWhich familiar Wheel of the Year names, stories, and traditions are ancient, modern, or a blend of bothSimple ways to honor each seasonal threshold without elaborate rituals, expensive supplies, or claiming a particular spiritual identityHow seasonal living and nature-based spirituality can deepen our relationship with the Earth, our intuition, and the passage of timeWhat the cycles of planting, growth, harvest, release, dormancy, and rebirth can teach us about motherhood, creativity, identity, and personal evolutionWhy we were never meant to bloom, produce, expand, or feel the same in every seasonBe sure to hit subscribe so you never miss the latest episode!Connect with Emily:Website: www.EmilyReuschel.comInstagram: @emilyreuschelFacebook: Emily ReuschelLinkedIn: Emily ReuschelJoin my Book Insiders List: Sign up here!Resources and Links:Learn more and sign up for VeilFallThe Wheel of the Year: An Illustrated Guide to Nature's Rhythms by Fiona Cook and Jessica Roux — A beautifully illustrated, family-friendly introduction to the eight seasonal celebrations, with stories, meditations, scavenger hunts, crafts, recipes, rituals, and simple ways to connect with nature throughout the year.Llewellyn's Sabbat Essentials Box Set — A collection of eight books—one for each sabbat—offering a deeper look at the history, lore, rituals, recipes, crafts, correspondences, prayers, and traditions associated with Ostara, Beltane, Litha, Lughnasadh, Mabon, Samhain, Yule, and Imbolc.Your Spacious & Seasonal Year by Ashley Burnett, with contributions from Lela Shields — A beautiful guide and workbook for living more intentionally alongside nature's rhythms, featuring seasonal rituals, reflections, recipes, and practices designed to bring greater connection, meaning, spaciousness, and joy to everyday life.Demystify Magic Podcast — A grounded, approachable podcast exploring magic and spirituality in ways that feel practical and accessible. Andrew Llewellyn has spent his career welding and managing some of North America's largest power, infrastructure, and nuclear construction projects. In this episode of The Fabricator Podcast, the UA pipefitter, Red Seal welder, and Kiewit welding manager discusses his path from field pipe welding into welding leadership. He explains how advanced wire-fed processes, phased-array ultrasonic testing, and collaborations with Lincoln Electric Canada and its Application Resource Centre (ARC) are changing industrial welding. Llewellyn also shares his perspective on workforce shortages, automation, cobots, and why communication between engineering and the field has become as important as technical welding skills. The evidence for an afterlife is vast, varied, and ancient. Now, meticulously compiled into one place, this evidence can be critically evaluated to resolve the age-old controversy of survival beyond death. Equipping you with a tool kit drawn from science, philosophy, and legal reasoning, Oxford-educated philosopher Chris Carter facilitates a thorough examination of the evidence and its corresponding counterarguments. Explore compelling case studies of near-death experiences, deathbed visions, apparitions, children who remember a previous life, and communications from the deceased. With findings that cannot be explained away by fraud, mistaken eyewitness testimony, incompetence, or extrasensory perception (ESP), this book proves beyond all reasonable doubt that our consciousness endures past bodily death.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-x-zone-radio-tv-show--1078348/support.Please note that all CANCOM/XZBN radio and/or television shows are Copyright © REL-MAR McConnell Meda Company, Niagara, Ontario, Canada – www.rel-mar.com. Are you prepared to learn the truth about UFOs and God? In today's episode, host Tina Yeager sits down with award-winning filmmakers Wes Llewellyn and Amanda Llewellyn to delve into their compelling new documentary, "UFOs and God." Together, they challenge prevalent cultural myths about UFOs and so-called non-human intelligences, unraveling why such beliefs can be spiritually dangerous. Drawing on science, scripture, and personal experience, our guests reveal the surprising truth behind spiritual deceptions—and why it's crucial for Christians to discern fact from fiction. Tune in for eye-opening insights on how to stay grounded in faith and truth while being compassionate to those searching for answers in a world full of conflicting messages. Many in our culture—and even in the church—are fascinated by UFOs, aliens, and the possibility of life beyond earth. But what's really happening when people encounter these phenomena? Wes Llewellyn explains: "They are real, but the question is, what are they?" He points out the astronomical improbabilities of extraterrestrial life and reveals a different dimension—literally—behind these encounters. Amanda Llewellyn adds, "Their lives are not improved with having an experience with NHI (non-human intelligence)" and urges us to hold every experience up to the light of God's truth.

Activities like pony club, showjumping and eventing were not on Shannen Llewelleyn's radar during her teen years on the NSW Central Coast. That's not to say she didn't like horses. In fact the idea of buying herself a suitable steed one day had crossed her mind more than once. A job at a local Woolworths Supermarket allowed Shannen to save diligently, and it wasn't long before she had enough spare cash to buy the horse of her dreams. That horse turned out to be a standardbred who'd never made it to the racetrack. She named him “Shadow” and began the slow, tedious process of teaching herself to ride from scratch. Not surprisingly there were a few anxious moments. Memories of old “Shadow” are beginning to fade these days as she boots home winner after winner on NSW racetracks- 150 winners in fact since March of 2024. Shannen joins us on the podcast to talk about her rapid rise. She begins by talking about her recent transition to metropolitan racing. Shannen talks about the crowded lady jockey's rooms these days in and out of the city. The 24 year old talks about her early upbringing at Lismore and the family's relocation to the Central Coast eleven years ago. She talks of her scholarly attributes. Shannen says she moved back to Lismore for a while and began her working life with Woolworths. When the time came to rejoin her mother and sister, she was fortunate to gain a transfer to a Central Coast Woolworths store. At age 19 she purchased her own horse. Shannen later sought a second job with hours to fit in with her Woolworths commitment. That job happened to be with a thoroughbred operation run by a master horseman. The journey had begun. She says a short stint followed with Wyong trainer Kim Waugh which led to an offer from leading Western Districts trainer Brett Robb. Shannen says she rode in almost 40 barrier trials before applying for a licence to ride in races. The process seemed to take forever. She looks back on her very first race ride at Dubbo, and admits she got a scare when the horse “bucked” out of the gates. The young jockey was thrilled to win at her 5th race ride on Dubbo favourite Elson Boy from the Dar Lunn stable. Shannen couldn't believe her luck when she rode another winner just two days later. She rode for just four months of her first season in the saddle, and couldn't believe the winning run that came her way. Shannen talks about the offer she received from trainer Jane Clement which saw her move to Bendemeer near Tamworth. She loved the experience. She talks of a Parkes Cup win last year on veteran galloper Knife's Edge. Shannen talks of her move to the Nathan Doyle stable at Newcastle a year ago. She acknowledges the horses to give her seven metropolitan wins so far. The jockey says her weight is giving her no problems at this stage of her career. Shannen makes special mention of her favourite horse to this point in time. She talks of devoted mum Danielle and older sister Lakisha. Shannen admits to being overwhelmed by the good fortune to come her way in such a short time.

Laura Tempest Zakroff joins us for a conversation about what it means to inhabit your practice, not just perform it. We talk about energy flow, bodily autonomy, and sovereignty in witchcraft: how your body is the first territory you claim, how consent applies to magical work, and why embodiment isn't optional if you're serious about the craft.Laura's books Anatomy of a Witch and Weave the Liminal are required reading for every student on the Tempering Path, and for good reason. Her work taught us how to ground our witchcraft in the body, how to navigate liminal spaces with integrity, and how to stop treating magic like something that happens outside of us.This episode is us anchoring our own teachings back to the source, the work that shaped how we understand energy, boundaries, and what it means to be sovereign in your practice. If you've ever felt disconnected from your body in ritual, struggled with energetic boundaries, or wondered how consent shows up in magical spaces, this conversation is for you. This path isn't about perfection; it's about presence. In this episode, I'm joined by Robert Schreiwer, Michelle A. Jones, and Stacey Lynne Stewart to explore Heathen Traditions of the Pennsylvania Dutch: An Urglaawe Primer—an interesting look at a distinct expression of Heathenry rooted in the Pennsylvania Dutch culture. Together, we talk about Urglaawe (or-glaw-VEH), a living spiritual tradition that explores the roots of Germanic Heathen spirituality with regional folklore, language, and lived experience. We discuss its mythology, seasonal practices, and spiritual framework, as well as how other local related traditions like Hexerei and Braucherei intersect with—but remain distinct from—Urglaawe itself. We talk about what it means to practice a land-based, culturally rooted tradition in the modern world, and how Urglaawe offers a path that is both inclusive and deeply tied to place—integrating the seasons and environment where you live with your practice. Whether you're new to Heathenry and exploring its different expresssions or looking to expand your understanding of regional traditions, this discussion will give you insights to a unique practice. The book is available from Llewellyn on their website, at your local bookstore, and online. # # # Resources # # # The Urglaawe page: https://www.urglaawe.org Urglaawe Facebook Group: Stacey: IG @the_accidental_urglaawer, Blog Robert: IG @schreiwer Michelle: Facebook Deitsch Girl Displaced # # # This book was sent to me by the publisher. In this eye-opening episode, host Ashish Kothari sits down with positive psychology expert Llewellyn van Zyl to confront the double-edged sword of Artificial Intelligence. As AI shifts from a productivity tool to a source of "psychological support," we explore the thin line between technology that empowers us and technology that erodes our core human faculties. Whether you are a business leader, a mental health professional, or a curious tech user, this conversation matters because it defines the exact moment we must choose to remain the architects of our own flourishing before the algorithms do it for us.Main Topics CoveredHyperpersonalization vs. Scaling: How AI can provide granular, 1:1 care at a global scale. The "Friendship" Trap: A look at the ethical fallout when users become emotionally addicted to empathic AI models.Substitution vs. Support: The critical distinction between tools that help us grow and those that make our cognitive "muscles" atrophy. The Erosion of Agency: Why outsourcing our reasoning to AI might lead to a loss of autonomy and critical thinking. The AI-IARA Framework: An introduction to Llewellyn's model for psychologically safe AI design (Awareness, Interpretation, Intention, Action, Relational Agency, and Autonomy). The Future of the Psychology Profession: Why practitioners must learn the language of engineers to remain relevant. The AI and Future of Well-being Summit: A preview of the upcoming global gathering of experts.Key TakeawaysSkills are Muscles: When we outsource basic tasks like writing, spelling, or reasoning to AI, we don't just save time—we physically lose the cognitive capacity to perform those skills through "frictionless" living.Guard Against Engagement-Only Models: Much like social media, AI systems optimized for "eyeballs" rather than "impact" risk creating dependency and addiction rather than genuine flourishing.Demand Technological Humility: It is vital for professionals to admit what they don't know about AI to prevent harm and ensure that human-centric values are built into the "behavioral architecture" of new tools.Prioritize Agency: True well-being is the ability to write your own life story. We must ensure AI remains a partner in that process, not the author.Episode Chapters00:00 - 00:52 Introduction to Flourishing Edge00:53 - 02:04 Hyperpersonalization: The Future of Well-being02:05 - 06:02 The Ethics of AI Friendship and Emotional Dependency06:03 - 09:05 Moving Beyond the "Engagement" Business Model09:06 - 15:06 The Continuum: Substitution vs. Support15:07 - 18:03 Cognitive Atrophy and Technological Humility18:04 - 24:14 Llewellyn's Journey: From Clinical Burnout to Precision Well-being24:15 - 31:42 Why Tech Needs Psychologists (and Vice-Versa)31:43 - 40:20 Preview: AI and the Future of Well-being Summit40:21 - 46:22 Deep Dive into the AIR Framework46:23 - 50:25 Three Actionable Tips for Using AI Mindfully50:26 - 54:19 Rapid Fire Questions and Closing RemarksConnect with the GuestLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/llewellynvanzyl/IPPA's Virtual Summit on AI and the Future of Wellbeing (Late March): http://aisummit.ippanetwork.org/ (Use code for 10% discount)Connect with the HostWebsite: https://happinesssquad.com/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ashishkothari1/Book: https://happinesssquad.com/book/If this episode challenged the way you look at your smartphone, don't keep it to yourself! In this episode of Meaningful Work Matters, host Andrew Soren finds himself in the hot seat. Dr. Llewellyn E. van Zyl, positive psychology pracademic and a returning guest of the show, steps in as interviewer to explore the story behind our host and what happens to the person underneath when they keep becoming someone new.Andrew has moved across a wide range of roles over his career: theatre producer, marketing professional, executive coach, organizational designer, and now Executive Director of the International Positive Psychology Association.Together, they trace what each transformation cost, what it left behind, and what Andrew has learned about identity, suffering, and meaning that scholarship alone could not have taught him.Key TakeawaysEvery major transition carries grief. The loss of self-efficacy that comes with stepping into a new role is real, worth acknowledging, and a signal worth paying attention to.Tension is information. Learning to distinguish between harmonious and dissonant tension across roles, values, and identities is a navigational skill that develops over time.Meaning and suffering are not opposites. Meaningful work often involves real cost, and the more useful question is how to stay inside that work without being consumed by it.Our core questions such as who am I and how do I bring more of that into what I'm doing, may change over the course of a lifetime, but often find their ways back in new forms. Why This Episode MattersMany conversations about meaningful work in this podcast have focused on how to find it, design it, or measure it. This one goes somewhere less often visited: what it actually costs to keep becoming someone new, and what remains stable underneath all the roles we play. About Our GuestDr. Llewellyn E. van Zyl is a professor of positive psychology at the Optentia Research Unit, North-West University of South Africa, and Chief Solutions Architect at Psynalytics. His work sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence, employee wellbeing, and the measurement of human flourishing. He is the Program Chair of the IPPA Virtual Summit on AI and the Future of Wellbeing, taking place March 23–27, 2026.Andrew Soren is the Founder & CEO of Eudaimonic by Design, a global network helping organizations design environments where people thrive, act with purpose, and deliver their best. He is also the Executive Director of the International Positive Psychology Association. For over 25 years, Andrew has helped leading organizations foster values-based leadership, meaningful work, and well-being at scale.

We are the dreams of our ancestors; we are their hopes for the future. But sometimes their trauma is transmitted to us through nightmares. Today’s guest, Dream Journal regular Linda Schiller, will be talking about how to heal that intergenerational pain and focus on the gifts of ancestral connection. Linda talks about her own ancestors and how her grandfather, who she called Grandpa Joey, fled Kiev with his family at age of three because of the pogroms and how making borscht soup always helped her feel more connected to that side of her family. We talk about the trauma that we inherit from our ancestors but also the caring and resilience. Linda also talks about synchronicity, public trauma vs private trauma, drawing up a family tree, and dream incubation. After the break, we explore a dream of Katherine’s about doing numerical computations like she used to during her NASA career and about why she might be having this dream now over 20 years after leaving that position. In this episode we meet with Irish author Rev. Lora O'Brien to talk about her latest book The Mórrígan, Ireland's Goddess: Sovereign Secrets from an Irish View. We talk about her book and the Mórrígan as well as learning about the goddess from Irish resources, mythology and folktales, Irish sacred spaces, and connecting to an authentic Irish practice itself. It's a really interesting conversation which goes beyond the goddess and Lora shares tools to create a vibrant Irish (or other) religious practice. Lora is an author and Mórrígan devotee who has written this book with a perspective towards the Irish practice, mythology, and cultural connection. She is a modern Draoí—a practitioner and priest of indigenous Irish magic and spirituality. She is founder of the Ogham Academy and with her partner, Jon O'Sullivan, she is the co-founder of the Irish Pagan School. The Mórrígan, Ireland's Goddess is available from Llewellyn books. # # # Instagram: @morrigan.academy.irish @irish.pagan.school Links: Lora O'Brien Mórrígan Academy National Monuments Service (Historic Environment Viewer) Folklore archive - Duchas # # # This book was sent to me by the publisher. Tom Llewellyn, Executive Director of Shareable, explores the power of Libraries of Things, mutual aid, and community-run infrastructure as practical alternatives to extraction-based economics.Llewellyn explains how tool libraries, repair cafés, and sharing hubs help communities reduce waste, lower costs, and build resilience. from rural towns to dense cities, from disaster recovery to everyday life. Together, Rushkoff and Llewellyn unpack why sharing is framed as a threat to capitalism, how libraries became our most trusted public institutions, and why real economic security comes from relationships, not growth charts. The conversation centers on Shareable's newly released Library of Things Toolkit, a hands-on guide for anyone asking the question Team Human hears most often: What can I do right now?If you're looking for concrete ways to rebuild community, resist planned obsolescence, and move from critique to action, you've come to the right place.Team Human is proudly sponsored by Everyone's Earth.Learn more about Everyone's Earth: https://everyonesearth.com/Change Diapers: https://changediapers.com/Cobi Dryer Sheets: https://cobidryersheets.com/Use the code “rush10” to receive 10% off of Cobi Dryer sheets: https://cobidryersheets.com/Support Team Human on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/teamhumanFollow Team Human with Douglas Rushkoff:Instagram: https:/www.instagram.com/douglasrushkoffYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJdUEh2Wh4fnswTLmqoEnhgTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@douglasrushkoffBluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/rushkoff.com Hosted on Acast.
