Trance-Mission Episode 02 … “As the Rush Comes”   We left the Ambient realm, dropped and landed into Tranceland. With its highs and lows, builds and snare drums, synths and pads! I tried to put together a set, which pursue the trance flow. Do you remember the anticipation, the wait, the tingling, the heat, the chills, the sweats, the raised hair on the skin and the glow? Do you remember the RUSH? Four months of gestation and labour! Time to let this one be judged by the community. Though sloppy at times, I did the best I could.. In spite of the rather chilled first tracks, "As the Rusch Come" has a definite Trance flavour. Beats per minute do not lie, we end up at 136 bpm, it is Trance! Or, how I was recently told, “Progressive Trance”. One word on the long hiatus between uploads: after a month of blissful downtime with the family in Europe, we faced a few tumultuous events once back in Oz. I neither had the time nor the inclination to listen or mix anything. Problems got sorted out and we are hopefully back to the pedestrian, uneventful rhythm I personally love. In many a ways, the break was timely. I was starting to do this just because “I had to”, which really negates the desire I have for a creative outlet. To Lars, I will answer your emails this week. You have my very public apology, I hope you understand. Back to “As The Rush Comes”: Trance can only be a journey, something with a beginning, ebb and flows, to culminate as  build-up to a massive “hands up in the air” closing track. Motorcycle   Highlights:   Starting with Track 5, Mashup of “Sweet Harmony” with “Reach Out for Love” vocals.. I had the insane urge to fuse Trance and Soulful House, ensuring that I would insult both tribes.. I do like what I attempted but would love someone with real talent to pursue it to gives this idea the love and care it requires. I sent it to a well-respected friend of mine.. His reaction was priceless “Christian, have you ever heard of mastering?” Well, yes I have but wouldn’t even know where to start! I have posted a frist version on my soundcloud page, I will post the final version in the next few days   “See the Sun” from Matt Darey, I had to start with some intro uplifting trance, great vocals, a tune bringing us old trance kids back decades. “Help Me Understand I’m not Alone”: in between Progressive House and Trance, feelgood track, so sweet on the ears, with a great synth layers.   “The Nothing Song” from Chicane: for the initiated, Nick used the basic chords of Poppiholla and extended the melody, track chosen to get into the trance vibe.   “Bliss” the Blood Groove & Kikis remix. A word on Blood Groove & Kikis, two remixers/producers from Riga, Latvia. They ended up featuring about 3 times in this set, underlining the fact that if you are looking for a current Progressive Trance sound, just go to their soundcould page (https://soundcloud.com/bloodgroove-kikis) and onto Beatport (http://www.beatport.com/artist/blood-groove-and-kikis/189678) to buy their tunes. I added the Jon Cutler/E-man sample in the spirit of the soulful trance fusion vibe I was trying to achieve. A bit gratuitious.. What follows is much better.   Reach Out for Harmony Mash-up. The instrumental track “Sweet Harmony”  is from Blood Groove & Kikis.. It sounds like Kaskade, when Kaskade decides not to include the electro crap required to sell to the masses. The vocal of Marc Evans', soulful house God.   “Choices” from E-Specro.. do not miss, perfect production! Deep and Progressive with a slight trance tinge.. One of my favourite.   “Without You” another track from Blood Groove & Kikis, easy instrumental Trance track to use a bridge. Classic Trance structure.   “Phantom” from Fehrplay. We are now squarely in Trance land.. I could dance to that! Include the very naughty Ed Weathers Love This Feeling sample.. But really Trance with naughtiness.. I do not think so..   “Falling in My Eyes”.. this is the good feeling, rush uplifting trance I used to absolutely adore with a 2014 production feel.. I am seeing sparkles with this one.. Turn Me On indeed!!   “More” from Tess and Ad Brown.. Progressive Trance with a great vocalist.. The most well known three chords in the world.. and yet an original song.. A track like this alone is worth all the crap Trance I had to listen to.. LOVE IT.. And listen to the guitar and tell me where they sampled it from..   “What a Wonderful World” EDX take on the Ron Carroll/Bob Sinclair classic.. I actually reworked the whole set for months before finding the right 2 last tracks.. I am unsure of this one but I needed to jump 12 bpm over 8 minutes and 4 months of labour was enough..   As much as I am unsure of “What a Wonderful World” I know the Gabriel & Dresden remix of “As The Rush Comes” is the fitting track to send you home.. Peak time trance at its very, very best! Enjoy and please, please D A N C E !!   I will work on a few additional higher bpm Trance episodes in the next few months.. Introspection 2.0   Same spirit as the first iteration. Deep, slightly down tempoIndie and dark progressive House driven by big bass lines and (I hope ) original eclectic melodies.   Except for the Lana track which I picked up from Introspection 1.0, the set has a clear continental European feel. The artists and remixers are mostly from Northern Europe. The production is distinctively Nordic or German. I used no Latin flair nor samples and tried to concentrate on the mixing only.   Official thanks to Lars, who sent me some German tunes. Not only do I love them but it has opened a new direction for seeking new sounds. Lars, I am very grateful.   A word on the passing of Frankie Knuckles:  In the near future I will (how could I not?) fittingly mark the occasion with hopefully a live set at home with friends. Should the result be good enough I will upload the set. Reading the posts from the average punter like me and from DJs  he influenced or supported during his career, the common thread was on how much joy and what a nice gentle man he was. Whatever I’ll do, shall reflect the joy and gentleness. The Peacemaker Project     Highlights: Started where I left it with “Summertime Sadness” which turns out to be one of the weakest tracks of the set. A bit lazy of me.. Begining  the big bass line theme with Andrey Exx's great remix of the classic “ Be Good”. Whoever is the vocalist is amazing and I love the atmosphere the production has achieved. Continuing with the male vocalist of the same classic, this was a fluke but a happy one. “Be Good to Me” by Croatia Squad. Listen from the break at 15:36 and be in bliss with the disco keys they have introduced in what was a rather dark and progressive rendition. With the nest track “Feel Good” the set is at cruising spend. The Moe Turk Remix of the Ran Salman and Ordonez track is just top shelf progressive indie house. “Never You Mind” by Kant..  I LOVE anything Kant is currently producing.. From Denmark, those gys are subtle, inspired.. Released in 2014, this is going straight into my top ten.. Do not miss!! In case you did not get the heavy hint DO NOT MISS!! And maybe, just maybe buy the track on Beatport.. “Mirage” by Vanilla Ace. From London, very talented, remixers of Basement Jaxx and Nora en Pure. “Mirage” is again key and bass driven with a voice sample ( did not even had to had it).. I t is so easy to listen to and yet so intricate. Deep, Progressive or Chill you choose. “Barfuss auf Wolken” from KlangKueunstler .. which translates (I think) as “Walking Barefoot on the Cloud”.. My niece recognized the sample from somewhere, I didn’t.. Thank you Lars. Indie German track, with great guitar, showing how fusion should be done.. Happy tune! “Come with Me” sexy deep house based again on a big bass line, perfect percussions and synths pas in what is for me the perfect key for deep house (Gm). Hot since 82 serving up the remix. Sexy track .. “Come with Me, Close your eyes and kisssss me …” The Kant remix of “Everyday Everynight” if ever there was a track which dropped naturally, this was the one.. It is everything I attempted to make you feel here.. And again the Danes are showing how music can be clever and fully enjoyable.. If this is Indie.. well, I love Indie.. Amber Jolene with Nolan on the vocals.. “Everybody Wants Something”.. you know the track, Akabu is really smashing it recently and this remix is both a bit challenging and immensely sexy!   ATTENTION TOP TRACK !!.. The Maja Jane Coles remix of “Rule the World”.. If the Doors where performing today this would be what they would sound like.. Driving, melodic and the dimension  Maya Jane Coles has given the track is unmistakable. Love it!! As for Maya Janes Coles, she is firmly in my top ten current DJ and actually one of the very few, for whom I would move mountains to see and hear. Great talent!   “Wir Sind Frei” from the Peacemaker Project.. It is a collective of artists.. from Germany mainly.. here is their website http://www.thepeacemakerproject.com and their SoundCloud page https://soundcloud.com/thepeacemakerproject Same as KANT I love everything they do, they are bringing brains, style and elegance to House and are NEVER boring, always having a melodic dimension to anything they do. This is the current tip of the creation in House music.. and I am quite happy to say, it is in Europe… The track is good and I did not feel like “mixing it in” for the sake of it..
