We got that Summertime Sadness with this one, y'all. This week we watched Grown Ups so you don't have to, but if the box office returns are anything to go by you probably did. It's got Adam Sandler and crew bumbling around a lake house trying to recapture the glory days of their youth. Are the pratfalls and toilet humor of yesteryear enough to keep us engaged or is this one trip down memory lane you can avoid altogether? Hit play and find out! Frex looks into the true meaning of Summertime Sadness, once just a great Lana Del Rey song and now a medically recognized condition. She talks about her villain origin story which is the one summer she went to acting camp. She remembers and maybe misremembers other camp tales. Then, of course, a little NBA trade talk. Frex and Producer Mike argue over RFK Jr. to close out the episode. Please rate review and subscribe, you know the vibes. The Yankees' struggles continue, so is it time to fire Aaron Boone? Luke may think so, but not for the same reasons as other Yankee fans. Also on the show, Francisco Lindor is not named to the all-star team as the Mets sit one game below .500 and Move the Needle.
What if a mixtape could change your entire perspective on summer? Join Matt and Samer on a nostalgic journey through sun-soaked tunes that might just make even the biggest summer skeptics (like Samer) start to appreciate the season. Kicking off with the fan-favorite "Waiting on the Summer" by VHS Collection, recommended by @mindys_memories, we explore how a perfect blend of music and memories can transform the hottest months. Listen as we reflect on how our Instagram community shaped this mixtape and the joy of experiencing summer through different life stages. From the timeless beat of Weezer's "Island in the Sun" to the infectious energy of Tom Cochran's "Life is a Highway," our conversation is filled with musical nostalgia and fun anecdotes. We reminisce about the 1998 hit that cleverly sampled Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers, and ponder the value of "smart comedies" like Bullworth. The episode takes a quirky turn as we discuss New Yorker cartoons and a memorable Seinfeld moment, before diving into the operatic brilliance of Meatloaf's "You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth." It is a pleasure to welcome singer-songwriter Gabriella Raelyn to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast. Born in Denver, Colorado, Gabriella listened to 1980s pop icons, including The Cure, Depeche Mode, and Madonna, who would later heavily inspire her to create her music. She composes, sings, arranges, and produces all her songs. Gabriella's music blends Alternative R&B, Baroque Pop, Darkwave, and Electro House. Her tunes have an overarching theme of romanticism and often feature storylines that explore agony and the passion of star-crossed lovers and forbidden love through dark femininity's lens. On October 13, 2023, Gabriella released Nephele: Act I. The album drew inspiration from a fictional character she named after Nephele, the Greek Goddess of Clouds. Zeus created her as a replica of his wife, Hera, to test another man's integrity who also lusted after Hera. Through her music, Gabriella breathes life into the captivating narrative of Nephele, a 21-year-old enchantress from the vibrant 80s era. Engaged in a fierce internal struggle of displacement and melancholy, Nephele: Act I pulses with raw emotion, encapsulating the heartache and courage of a young woman's journey to find her place in a world seemingly determined to cast her adrift. In this edition of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Gabriella Raelyn spoke about Nephele: Act I's creation process, her TikTok success, and transforming some of modern-day pop's hits into successful 80s-inspired covers, including Lana Del Rey's "Summertime Sadness."

From Plum Creek With Love: A Little House on the Prairie Podcast
Everyone's favorite letter invading postal worker is back, Kizia Horn returns to give us an update on how life has been since we last saw her. After moving out of her Subterrian Studio apartment, Kizia has found above the ground accomeditations next to a body of water. Since it's summertime Laura, Albert and Andy can spend their days with her. That's until Kizia receives word that due to her lack of reading her own mail and failure to pay back taxes (for 3 years) she is now homeless...again. The only way for her to stay in the area is to become Harriet Oleson's domestic servant, whom happens to have paid the back taxes and is the new owner of the property. Talk about Summertime Sadness. It's then decided the kids, along with Kizia, are going to spend part of the summer trying to get Kizia back into her house. Loud Bellows, Monster stories, and full moons are used to set up the big scare. However, nothing will help the situation more than having a Monster appear in front of Harriet. How far out is Kizia's place from downtown Walnut Grove? Is this the third or fourth summer of Season 5? Is this the first time we ever see Harriet Oleson's Bare arms?
