The Yogi Show | Yoga, Mindfulness, and Gratitude with a Touch of Humor
Thank you for being here. We had a fun time chatting with Erin Motz on this episode. Erin and her partner are the founders of Bad Yogi. In her 13+ year time as a yoga teacher, she's always jokingly called herself a Bad Yogi because she didn't fit in with the stereotypical yoga drones who all dressed, looked, and acted alike no matter what city she visited. Erin is the original creator of the Inhale Tacos Exhale Negativity meme so yeah she's super cool. I’m so excited to have my friend Erin Motz from Bad Yogi on the show today. We’ve been virtual friends for many years now, and it was my first time actually chatting with her in a voice format… not email or text-based. She’s SO fun and knowledgeable and I hope you enjoy listening to this one as much as I loved recording it! Here’s what we chat about: Background info and how she started Bad Yogi What are some of the things she loves about yoga? What are tips for someone who has never tried yoga but feels intimidated? (Especially during this online time and their first class may not be in person) About her move to the US and her experience living in France Plans for Bad Yogi Her personal fitness and nutrition routine and so.much.more. Here’s a little bit about Erin yet if you’re not familiar with Bad Yogi: Erin is the Co-Founder of Bad Yogi & voice of real yogis everywhere. She is a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer and has been teaching yoga for over 16 years. Erin believes to have been a student of the human body for over a decade. Her years of independent study in anatomy, biomechanics, kinesiology, and personal training with her experience teaching yoga to a diverse group of private clients—ranging from professional athletes to stay-at-home moms—have taught her how to get proven results. In her spare time, Erin is a wine drinker, cheese eater, and not your typical yoga teacher. You won't hear much Sanskrit, she totally forgives you if you don't know your asana from your elbow, and she believe that yoga is for everyone, from the kale loving vegan to the prize-winning deer hunter. Find Erin on her website, Instagram, Tiktok, the Bad Yogi Studio app, her Youtube channel, and her PB21 program. Resources from this episode: Get 15% off Organifi with the code FITNESSISTA. The green juice and gold powder are my favorites! Thank you so much for listening and for all of your support with the podcast! Please leave a rating or review if you enjoyed this episode. I love the idea behind new mama & entrepreneur Erin Motz's brand Bad Yogi. I have often thought of myself as a bad yogi also or didn't fit into one box. Today this mama tells us why she wanted to make yoga accessible to everyone + a little more accepting to the world. Erin speaks candidly about the "internal tug of war" of wanting to spend time with your kids & contribute creatively to the world. She also speaks about mom guilt and how we can never win in our own minds and are often really hard on ourselves. She also speaks honestly about PPD and the fog that has rolled in and out since having her son Theo. Mamas! How are you holding up? I am holding an IG LIVE this Friday March 20th at lunchtime to talk about creative ideas for moms with social isolation measures in place during these challenging times. We will talk about creative ideas for being home with littles and kids of all ages. We will talk about self care and how we will approach that now that we are more insular. We will also discuss wellness practices like meditation, journaling, reading etc. during this time as well as staying healthy mentally and physically. Come join me! @soulmammaspodcast. We had an idea to do an episode where Adrien (my husband & co-founder of Bad Yogi) interviews me as a "guest." This was exceptionally hilarious and fun because as the person who knows me netter than anyone, his questions were GOOD. He didn't ask anything obvious, didn't give me any softball questions, and made me reveal a few embarrassing facts about myself that I didn't intend to, lol. In this episode we talk about... - The biggest mistake I've made with Bad Yogi - Advice for people wanting to do what I do - What I like most & least about the yoga community - Dealing with the fear of what other people think - What I wish people understood - How to separate ego from what I do - Weight loss ...and so much more than I'll type here! Have a listen, enjoy, and please subscribe & rate if you enjoy the episode! We made it! Hello, samadhi! We're discussing the 8th and final limb with Erin Motz of Bad Yogi today!
We're back in the studio (figuratively speaking) with Erin Motz of Bad Yogi to talk about the third limb of Patanjali's 8 Limbs: Asana! Asana is the physical practice of yoga, and it's most people's gateway to the rest of yoga.
This week, Gabriella Gricius talked with Bad Yogi founder, Erin Motz, about breaking down stereotypes, the difficulties of starting a business as a woman and yoga. Listen to another one of the women we're celebrating this month! Today’s guest is a new kind of badass, she’s a BAD YOGI, with a nice ass probably because she does lots of yoga. Erin Motz of Badyogiofficial.com just reeks authenticity the same way that your sweaty yoga pants, well, just reek. The thing is, Erin’s loud and proud about not being a traditional yogi -- and she works long and hard to create a community where non-Sanskrit speaking, wine-loving, raggedy yoga-pants wearing yogis can UNITE! To date, with her brand, Bad Yogi, Erin has helped over 100,000 down-doggers proudly celebrate the fact that they’re bad yogis and she is essentially, redefining yoga culture. Kinda like how AirBnb redefined travel lodging. Except those are two completely different things so nevermind. Get ready to hear: The benefits of being a bad yogi. How to stop feeling so competitive in yoga classes! The honest correlation between yoga and weight. The answer to the question: is yoga supposed to be hard? The actual end goal of yoga. And plenty more! Links related to this episode: The full show notes with all the deets from this episode! Where I’d much appreciate you leaving a review for the show!!
