Alice Williams Bio In a former life, writer Alice Williams worked as a former storyliner on one of Australia's best-loved TV soaps, and is passionate about bringing more diversity to our screens. Alice is now the author of two books, ‘Would it kill you say please?' and ‘Bad Yogi', a memoir about overcoming addiction and teaching yoga. Alice is passionate about the power of storytelling to heal. And in teaching yoga, Alice believes that in shedding light on the hidden ‘shadow' parts of ourselves can be a powerful healing tool. Alice lives in Melbourne with her two children and coaches new authors polish and pitch their manuscripts to publishers. She is currently writing her third book. SHOWNOTES FOR ALICE: Alice's life into yoga came about in a convulated way from feeling a sense of failure in her current job and facing writer's block and her Dad being sick. She had an awakening on Christmas night where she surrendered to the universe and felt like she had to surrender and let go of everything. When Alice was in that “stuck” place she was stuck in a no mans land and was told by her therapist to give things a try and this is where she stumbled into yoga teacher training. One of the things in the course were designed to get in touch with a deeper sense of herself and found this was a way of getting in touch with her body rather than coping her way through food. Alice talks about the 12 steps programme with food and how she felt during the process as she was also doing her yoga teacher training. Alice lost that desire to binge and starve during this time as she learnt to switch off her rationale brain and she connected deeper into her mind and body. Something shifted during this practice where she stripped away everything she believed and let go of things that she was used to and found she went back to writing. The training allowed her to be more like herself. Alice talks about the thinking vs food and how the programme tackles the mindset around food thought and behaviours. Carla and Alice talk about the power of chanting. Alice talks about her second book – the rules of engagement on social media, restaurants, discusses the world of online dating with Carla. Alice's definition of happiness is about being aligned with her inner voice. Alice's morning routine involves getting her kids ready in the morning, a 15 min yoga practice, and journal for 20 mins until her mind is clear, and does a vipassana meditation and get back into her body. Nothing brings Alice more joy than dancing around to music on YouTube and her favourite is Beyonce, she loves having a good belly laugh with a friend and making people laugh whether it's with her book as it gives her a sense of purpose. Her last meal would be anything with seafood and mangoes. Her all-time favourite book is written by Kate Holden: In My Skin. Ricky Gervais, Ivanka Trump would be her fantasy dinner guests What is something I learnt today? Would did I do well? What am I grateful for today? Form as part of Alice's meditation and gratitude routine.

Are we a “bad yogi” if we're not vegan? Or don't recycle? Or refuse to use Sanskrit words? In today's episode, we're joined by the official “Bad Yogi” Erin Motz to speak about guilt, courage and the power of authenticity. Discover how to balance self-improvement and self-love. Learn how to know if you're pushing yourself too hard on the mat (or not enough), as well as how to best combine yoga with other forms of working out. If you've ever felt like a “less than” yogi or struggled with guilt or shame, this empowering episode is a must-listen.   Erin Motz is the co-Founder of Bad Yogi and the Perfect Body Yoga Program, which is centered around the belief that the “perfect” body is simply the healthiest version of the body you already have. She's a wine drinker, cheese eater, and not-your-average yoga teacher. She believes that yoga is for everyone, from the kale-loving vegan to the prize-winning deer hunter.   Special Guest: Erin Motz www.badyogi.com Facebook.com/badyogiofficial @badyogiofficial   Creator & Host: Brett Larkin http://www.brettlarkin.com/   Sound Engineer: Zach Cooper www.zmcmusic.tumblr.com   Producer: Benn Mendelson www.sivanaspirit.com www.sivanapodcast.com   Please consider leaving us a rating or review on iTunes!

Today’s guest is a new kind of badass, she’s a BAD YOGI, with a nice ass probably because she does lots of yoga. Erin Motz of Badyogiofficial.com just reeks authenticity the same way that your sweaty yoga pants, well, just reek. The thing is, Erin’s loud and proud about not being a traditional yogi -- and she works long and hard to create a community where non-Sanskrit speaking, wine-loving, raggedy yoga-pants wearing yogis can UNITE! To date, with her brand, Bad Yogi, Erin has helped over 100,000 down-doggers proudly celebrate the fact that they’re bad yogis and she is essentially, redefining yoga culture. Kinda like how AirBnb redefined travel lodging. Except those are two completely different things so nevermind. Get ready to hear: The benefits of being a bad yogi. How to stop feeling so competitive in yoga classes! The honest correlation between yoga and weight. The answer to the question: is yoga supposed to be hard? The actual end goal of yoga. And plenty more! Links related to this episode: The full show notes with all the deets from this episode! Where I’d much appreciate you leaving a review for the show!!
