Wir stellen uns die Frage: "The Drums is the most important Instrument?" Last but not least – das Wichtigste?

We Rise podcast features solutions-seekers, change-makers, and those creating a resilient future. We share stories and strategies to inspire action to build collective resilience and community transformation. To create change, people need to feel like they belong and that they are part of a growing movement. They need to know their voice matters and that they have the inspiration, agency and ability to transform their lives and their communities. They are the key to a resilient future. From the Navajo Nation to the mountains of Appalachia, incredible work is being done by community members and leaders. Change is often sparked by inspiration: seeing what others have done, especially in similar situations and places. People see that when someone looks like them or lives in a place like theirs, and has created real, true and lasting change, change that will allow their granddaughters and grandsons to thrive — they begin to imagine what might be possible for them. No longer waiting for someone else to come and save them, they realize they are the ones they have been waiting for. But what creates that spark? What creates that inspiration? Learning through stories and examples, feeling a sense of agency and belonging, and getting fired up to kick ass creates that spark. We Rise helps community leaders and members learn to forge a new path toward creating resilience and true transformation. One person at a time, one community at a time, one region at a time, the quilt of transformation can grow piece by piece until resilience becomes the norm instead of the exception. Together, we rise.
This is the second time Adam has hosted Richard Freeman and Mary Taylor on the Keen on Yoga Podcast. In this episode they focus the discussion on the Bhagavad Gita. Richard & Mary have been studying and practicing yoga since the early 1970s and were some of the very first students to discover the Ashtanga yoga method. Together they co-founded the Yoga Workshop in Boulder, Colorado, have produced several highly regarded yoga audio and video recordings, as well as authoring several books, both together and individually. Their latest title, When Love Comes to Light, is a guide to the Bhagavad Gita and interweaves insight into how these classic teachings are relevant for modern readers struggling with what it means to live responsibly in challenging times. In this talk with Adam they cover such topics from the book as Sounds of the battleground We're all in this together There is more to things than the conflict we feel Identification with the body Action gives information Ashtanga yoga giving the embodied experience of karma Tending to the mind Identification with the mind The question of Renunciation Using our practice for the good of the world Your responsibility Right attitude and duty What is our dharma Action without attachment to fruits Devotion Practice as sacrifice Expectations Children and practice Motivation You can find Richard and Mary on Instagram @ freemantayloryoga or on their website www.richardfreemanyoga.com If you enjoy the Keen on Yoga Podcast and would like to support us you can share this post, give us a review on Apple or Spotify or make a donation .

While his words are often like poetry and his photos stun you with their raw aesthetics, it is that space beyond the form and beyond the mind that Ty invites us to discover and out which his reflections are generously springing from. He is the wizard of most intricate thought castles, the faqir juggling heavy philosophical constructs with lightness and innocence of a child, while his fascination for exploring the ways of embodiment of the creative principle that animates all life is like a magnet that draws you deeper into inquiry in your own practice. We are absolutely delighted to have Ty on our show.Show notesFirst spiritual experiences, communion with the nature and longing for the sense of connectionIntellectual intoxication, vinyasas of thought and postures of mindSomatic exploration of breath wavesTerror of letting go of the sense of the self and the brilliance of Ashtanga VinyasaClinging to a particular idea of what your practice should beAsana as embodying the form that supports the liberated movement of creative energyFatherhood and daily practiceMixing traditions, following your heart, exploring synchronicitiesYear-long online immersion course "Into the Depth"Visit Yoga Workshop Online to find out about online classes, workshops and immersions offered by Ty. In this Keen on Yoga Podcast with Mary Taylor Freeman Adam discusses food and diet to support a yoga practice. Mary began studying yoga in 1971, soon after she came home from France with a grande diplôme from Julia Child’s cooking school, L’Ecole des Trois Gourmandes. She found yoga at first a means of finding equanimity during the stress of University, and it was that thread of balance that got her hooked. It was not until 1988 and finding her primary teacher, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, and the Ashtanga Vinyasa system that she experienced the profound and transformative impact that a dedicated and daily practice can have on all aspects of life. She continues to study and practice yoga and Buddhist teachings with great enthusiasm and inquisitiveness, with an eye on how the residue that is produced on the mat (and cushion) through these teachings informs and supports all aspects of everyday life. Mary travels and teaches with Richard and also within the caregiver and hospital setting as part of the core faculty of the Being with Dying program (Upaya Zen Center) and the Urban Zen Integrative Therapy Trainings. I In 1988 she co-founded with Richard the Yoga Workshop. Mary is also the author of three cookbooks and the co-author of What Are You Hungry For? Women Food and Spirituality (St. Martins Press) and The Art of Vinyasa (Shambhala Publications).

"Zoom classes are not going to heal the world" You have something that you can offer to your community - something that people need right now - and it's not an online zoom class. This is a second interview in our two-part special with yoga teachers Mary Taylor and Richard Freeman. In our first conversation we were primarily focusing on different aspects of the Yoga practice. Now in this episode we explore the relationship between Yoga and Buddhism. We look closely at the content of both teachings to understand how they intersect, whether they are talking about same or similar things just under different angles, what is the reason between different emphasis of those, as well as how both traditions can support each other if you bring enough curiosity and create a space for a dialogue. The Connected Yoga Teacher Podcast 162: Fill Your Yoga Workshop with Mado Hesselink Description: Have you ever struggled to put on a yoga workshop? Maybe you're hesitant to put on a yoga workshop because you're worried about how to fill it. Perhaps you're excited to offer a workshop and just want to get started. Mado Hesselink, repeat guest on the podcast, is just the person with the insights on this topic. Mado Hesselink has been teaching yoga since 2005, and training yoga teachers since 2010. She is the creator of Yoga Teacher Resource, and host of the Yoga Teacher Resource Podcast. Her focus is the places where business and yoga principles overlap, so that yoga teachers make a bigger impact with their teaching, and her mission is to help yoga teachers stay true to their values as they create their own definition of success. We may have toyed with the idea of teaching a yoga workshop, or attended a workshop ourselves that has inspired us to create our own, but it can be tricky to know when we're ready to teach a workshop. Mado shares more about the four categories of workshops and how to know if people are going to sign up for the workshop. Mado explains how to choose a workshop topic and title that will get people to sign up, her advice for yoga teachers scrambling to fill their workshops, and what we need to focus on to run a successful and effective workshop. Workshops can be a fun and engaging way to connect with our students on a different level beyond just a yoga class - Mado has insights about how to make the most of it for everyone! Key Takeaways: [7:19] Shannon introduces her guest for this episode - Mado Hesselink. [9:06] Why would yoga teachers even want to teach workshops? [11:42] Depending on how you market the workshop, the perceived value can be a lot higher than a class that's more general and not marketed to a specific audience. [13:31] Workshops helps deepen your connection with your most dedicated students. [14:55] How can yoga teachers tell if they are ready to lead a workshop? [17:25] What are some workshops that work really well? Mado highlights four that work really well - the Intro workshops, the 'Yoga +' workshops, the Deep Dives and the Experience / Celebration workshops. [21:50] Shannon and Mado discuss which category Shannon's workshop falls into. [22:36] How can we choose the topic for our workshops and determine what the title should be? [26:54] How can we fill our yoga workshop and ensure that it works? [30:12] What can you do if you take all the right steps and your workshop still doesn't fill? [34:00] What are some other tips Mado has for yoga teachers trying to market their yoga workshop. [39:19] Mado shares some tips for yoga teachers who are scrambling to fill their yoga workshops, and for people who want to call it quits after a 'failed' attempt. [42:45] What does Mado have to say to yoga teachers who think that they 'really, really need to' fill a workshop? [44:36] Mado shares more about her course for filling yoga workshops. [46:21] Mado has a list of 100 yoga class themes and 100 yoga workshop ideas available. [47:32] Mado leaves us with some final thoughts about workshops. [48:52] What were your biggest takeaways? Shannon shares what has really impacted her from this interview. Instead of thinking 'can I offer this online?' to switching to 'how can I offer this online?'." - Shannon "If you hit on a topic that really resonates with the people that you're trying to teach, it can end up being a lot more per hour." - Mado "Depending on how you market the workshop, the perceived value can be a lot higher than a class that's more general and not marketed to a specific audience?" - Mado "Not every single person who would benefit from your workshop, not every single person who fits into your target audience is going to be able to attend." - Mado "You have to go back to who is this for, and where do they spend their time?" - Mado

In today’s podcast we are speaking with Candace's longtime friend Bethany Snow, former U.S. Army Linguist, who has volunteered multiple times in Lesvos, Greece to help thousands of refugees. We believe knowledge is power, and since there isn’t much from the region that mainstream media is reporting, we thought it would be helpful to share, and hopefully to inspire our community to be a little gentler, a little more kind, and perhaps offer help to those in their community who may need it. Tune in to see how you can help, and please check out the links below for more information on volunteering, donating and the evolving situation in Greece. Bethany Snow is an ESL teacher, currently pursuing a Master of Science in Education in her home state of Maine. She is a U.S. Army veteran, language and linguistics enthusiast, and reality TV junky. She has dedicated the better part of her life to social justice and humanitarian causes working with organizations such as the ACLU and CommonDreams.org, but the work she is most proud of is the 13 months spent volunteering with refugees and asylum-seekers on the island of Lesvos, Greece. She lives by the mantra that even if you cannot help everyone, you can always help someone. -- If you want to support the efforts of groups working directly with refugee and asylum-seekers, these are incredible organizations. It’s important to remember how many moving parts there are to this crisis - From the rescue boats that pull them from the water, to the groups providing clothing and food, to the medical and trauma care, to the teachers who are committed to making sure the children are able to continue their education. It really does take a village. https://helprefugees.org/ https://www.donate4refugees.org/ http://www.refugeerescue.co.uk/ http://www.asterias-starfish.org/en/ https://bootvluchteling.nl/en/ Articles that give some background on the crisis/ongoing news: The Atlantic - Greece's Moria Refugee Camp The Guardian - Moria Refugee Camp Are You Syrious - (Are You Syrious is an invaluable resource for up to date news from the frontlines of the crisis.) To learn more about volunteering, here is a great resource to see available opportunities and provide information about the organizations and where they operate.
