This year has been a crazy year and here we all thought that 2020 was bad! Starting this January I started feeling a bit of a flare coming on, and I was doing everything I could to help stop it, eating healthy, doing more meditation, exercise etc. But the stress of this year just became too much and the fear of the flare getting worse took over, and the flare got worse. I ended up in the hospital on the 25th of March for three weeks, in the middle of the flare up I ended up switching GI doctors, which I am so grateful for my new GI specialist, shout out to Dr. Chalmers-Nixon out of Fernie BC, you saved my life. While I was in hospital in Calgary, the GI team started me on Xalgenz, but after 5 days we found out it was not working and that prednisone was giving me this fake feeling of getting better, so on Good Friday, Easter weekend, I met with the surgical team and discussed having a full colectomy, to take out my entire colon. I have never had major surgery like this before, so it was very much a shock to me. I ended up having the surgery on April 5th and recovered in hospital that week, and was able to come home April 11th. I have been getting better and better each day, good days and bad days still, but I feel like I am getting my strength back and I am feeling back to my normal self again. Listen to my story and how everything happened so fast. *Yikes!* -Becky

I have started a checklist of business points to consider and negotiate when working on a licensing deal in the cannabis space. It’s not just about the royalty. You need to also consider:- What is the exact nature of the IP to be licensed and the jurisdictions? In cannabis, often the licensor doesn’t own what they think they own. Particularly in the US because of cannabis’ federally illegal status.- Will it be an exclusive license or non-exclusive and in what jurisdictions?- What are the duties of the parties? Who manufactures? Who advertises and sells?- How do you handle new products / IP? Are they part of the deal? Is there a non-compete or a ROFR?- Who controls packaging?- Are sub distributors or resellers permitted?- What is a minimum advertised price?- What are minimum stocking levels?- What is the quality and recall process?- What is the term of the agreement?- What happens in the event of a change in control of a party to the license? - What are the regulatory obligations and the regulatory impact of the royalty scheme? You can’t establish value (an appropriate royalty) without first defining the transaction by answering the above questions.Learn more at www.sinclairrange.comFollow on Twitter @MartinisWScottFollow on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/scott-sinclair-7b09681b/
Abi used to hate running. In fact, she'd go as far as say loathe. When she was a kid, she hid behind trees to get out of it. Fast-forward 17 years, and after making it through High School, Uni and three years in London fairly unscathed, she moved to Fernie BC. She moved there for one winter to ski, and discovered a whole lot more – and ironically, became hooked on running. She now says her friends and family back home are in shock, and she is pretty sure her mother still to this day thinks she's in some sort of endurance cult. Once she discovered trail races, she came in 1st place in her first 6 races. More from me @hilsport55 Links to Stag Leap Running
