Fraudology is presented by Sardine. In this episode of Fraudology we recap a Banking on Fraudology episode, where we tackle one of the most pressing issues facing financial institutions today: synthetic identity fraud.Windham welcomes David Maimon, a renowned expert in cybercrime and head of Fraud Insights at Sentilink, for an in-depth discussion on the mechanics and implications of this sophisticated form of fraud. Maimon breaks down the key differences between first-party and third-party synthetic identities, explaining how fraudsters combine real and fake information to create convincing personas that can fool even robust verification systems. The conversation takes listeners inside the dark web marketplaces where stolen personal information is bought and sold, revealing the shocking ease with which criminals can acquire the building blocks for synthetic identities. Maimon and Windham explore emerging trends like the use of synthetic identities to create fake businesses, potentially amplifying the scale of fraud losses. They also discuss how generative AI is being used to attempt to bypass liveness checks, though Maimon emphasizes that AI still can't fabricate a person's entire history. Throughout the episode, both host and guest stress the importance of "keeping your hands dirty" by staying actively engaged in understanding the latest fraud tactics. Don't miss this opportunity to learn from two passionate fraud fighters on the front lines of the battle against synthetic identity fraud.Fraudology is hosted by Karisse Hendrick, a fraud fighter with decades of experience advising hundreds of the biggest ecommerce companies in the world on fraud, chargebacks, and other forms of abuse impacting a company's bottom line. Drug traffickers will engage in all sorts of creative schemes to market their product. Sometimes they will brand their packages with a well known brand like Tesla or Prada, while their competitors might brand their batch of poison as Fendi and Porsche. The end result is all the same. Misery and destruction in a community near you. Since the narcotrafficking market is ever changing it is not shocking that some groups are looking to take their branding a step further by coloring their Fentanyl. Experts fear that with the amount of fentanyl that is making it's way into communities and schools, that the coloring will lead to more children experimenting with the deadly drugs. In 2012, 14-year-old Dakota Dyer tragically took his own life after trying a synthetic drug. His father, Lance Dyer, was determined to prevent other families from experiencing this devastation. Confronted with the growing scourge of synthetic drugs - marketed as "safe" alternatives to marijuana - Lance fought back. Using investigative skills honed as an Army Ranger, Lance tracked down the manufacturing company responsible for his son's death. His efforts led to the arrests and lengthy prison sentences of those involved in the drug's production, distribution, and marketing. But justice for Dakota could not undo the unimaginable loss. Resolved to change the future, Lance began speaking out to educate young people, parents, and authorities about the dangers of synthetic drugs. He partnered with the Foundation for a Drug-Free World, finding their factual, non-judgmental educational materials to be a game-changer in reaching youth. Through the Dakota Dyer Foundation, Lance has now reached over a quarter of a million people, contributed to banning synthetic drugs nationwide, and continued his fight to protect young people from this deadly threat. His unwavering determination in the face of personal tragedy serves as an inspiration. HELP SUPPORT OUR FIGHT AGAINST ADDICTION. P2P methamphetamine production involves the reduction of ephedrine or pseudoephedrine using red phosphorus and hydroiodic acid. The P2P method is different from the one-pot or shake-and-bake methods, which are also used to produce methamphetamine. In the P2P method, the reaction occurs in a separate vessel, whereas in the one-pot method, all the ingredients are mixed in a single container. This also produces a much stronger version of the drug and that makes it much harder to kick the addiction. One of the states that has found itself dealing with a large number of people with addiction problems is Oregon and the toll that this new age methampethamine is taking is evident on not only the people but the community as well.Let's dive in and see what's up!(commercial at 8:54)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:OR drug crisis: Now in Oregon, cheaper meth 'rewires your brain,' more potent (koin.com)

Footwear is an area of apparel that is extremely difficult to narrow down to find sustainable options. I've interviewed a few footwear makers, including Steven Sashen from Xero Shoes, in some earlier episodes that attest to this dilemma. Still, most footwear options on the market rely specifically on synthetic materials to make them durable enough to wear on our feet.  That's why in episode 147 we hear from one founder who is harnessing the power of a sustainable and effective material for footwear: cork.  Mike Baker is the founder and CEO of ReCORK and SOLE, two brands on parallel missions to create radical change for good, for people and planet. SOLE makes custom moldable over-the-counter insoles that provide affordable pain relief and supported the outdoor endeavours of millions of customers. In 2008 SOLE launched ReCORK to harness the untapped potential of an incredibly sustainable natural material by recycling used wine corks into high-performance composite materials and components. With Mike at the helm, these two brands are determined to forge a more sustainable future, for the footwear industry and beyond. The Sinaloa Cartel continues to adapt and evolve, using new technology and tactics to evade law enforcement and expand its operations. In this episode we explore how the Los Chapitos took the mantle from their father and turned the Sinaloa cartel into a Fentanyl producing empire.(commercial at 10:30)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:SPECIAL REPORT-How El Chapo's sons built a fentanyl empire poisoning America (msn.com)

Synthetic IDs can be used to open fake accounts, but without a person to file the fraud claim, how should companies deal with this type of deceit? There is no crime where someone doesn't need to pay for the loss. Either way, the loss is passed on to the consumers in some way or another.  Today's guest is Steve Lenderman. Steve is currently the Head of Fraud Solutions North America at Quantexa and has over 25 years of experience in financial crimes investigation. His previous roles include being the Senior Vice President of Fraud Prevention Investigations at Bank Mobile Technology, the Director of Strategic Fraud Prevention at ADP, and the Fraud Operations Lead for PayPal Business Loans. He is a certified fraud examiner and actively contributes to the anti-fraud community. Show Notes: [1:07] - Steve shares his background and what his current role is at Quantexa. [4:04] - For those who are interested in a career path in cybersecurity or fraud, Steve has some tips. [6:07] - What is synthetic identity? Steve describes what it is and why we should be concerned about them. [8:59] - Although still mostly built around financial data, synthetic IDs have also morphed into other nefarious uses. [10:56] - All fraud in general is underreported, but synthetic IDs are extremely underreported, so data is not accurate, although still very high. [12:37] - Synthetic IDs can be used to open a credit card and then after several purchases, fraudsters leave the card open and unpaid. [14:21] - Some think that synthetic IDs and fake accounts are victimless. [18:59] - To understand how fraud works, Steve had to create synthetic IDs. [22:15] - Over the years, it has gotten even easier to do, which is alarming. [25:13] - Credit repair using a CPN is illegal fraud using synthetic IDs. [26:40] - Synthetics are all built around data and the ease of collecting data in the last few years has increased the ease of creating them. [27:57] - Criminals have learned that they can use synthetic IDs in more ways and in more industries. [31:04] - Small businesses are particularly easy targets for synthetic ID use. [33:16] - It is possible for synthetic IDs to also be used to create a new business. [34:53] - Technology has also made it possible for a deep fake to be created to match a synthetic ID. [36:49] - A lot of synthetic IDs are created with unused credit. Thanks for joining us on Easy Prey. Summary of the Synthetic Drug Trade from Mexico to America:Methamphetamine Production: Mexico became a major source of methamphetamine production due to the availability of precursor chemicals, weak law enforcement in certain regions, and the presence of powerful drug cartels. Meth labs operated in various regions of Mexico, producing large quantities of the drug destined for the U.S. market.Fentanyl Trafficking: Another major aspect of the synthetic drug trade was the trafficking of fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid. Mexican drug cartels capitalized on the demand for opioids in the United States and began manufacturing and smuggling fentanyl across the border.Smuggling Routes: Mexican drug cartels have sophisticated smuggling operations that use a variety of routes to transport drugs into the United States. These routes include clandestine tunnels, hidden compartments in vehicles, commercial shipments, and even drones.Distribution Networks: Once the drugs cross the border, they are distributed throughout the United States using well-established distribution networks operated by cartel associates or street gangs. These networks reach into various cities and towns, making the drugs easily accessible to users.Violence and Corruption: The synthetic drug trade is associated with high levels of violence and corruption in Mexico. Drug cartels fiercely compete for control of lucrative drug trafficking routes, leading to territorial disputes and violent confrontations.Ongoing Challenges: Law enforcement agencies in both Mexico and the United States have been working together to combat the synthetic drug trade. However, the constantly evolving nature of the trade and the vast profits involved present ongoing challenges in curbing the flow of these drugs. In this episode we see how Synthetic drugs, namely Fentanyl, has changed the narcotics game and how the cartels are adjusting their business practices to reflect this. In this episode of Toni Unleashed, we explore synthetic vitamins and minerals in pet food with Emily from Raw Dynamic. While these additives help make pet food complete and balanced, they can compete with natural nutrients for absorption. Emily explains that synthetic vitamins lack essential synergistic compounds found in natural ones and can lead to degraded cells and absorption issues. This competition may result in deficiencies or imbalances, affecting your dog's immune function, skin health, and overall well-being. To mitigate this, prioritize natural, whole-food sources in your dog's diet and choose food made with real meat, fruits, and vegetables. Investing in your dog's health by reducing synthetic additives can positively impact their longevity and quality of life.   Calls to action Direct any comments or questions to: CustomerService@healthypetproducts.net  Visit our websites: www.healthypetproducts.net / www.toniunleashed.com    Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/healthypetproducts/ https://www.instagram.com/toni.unleashed/  Facebook: Thttps://www.facebook.com/HealthyPetProducts / https://www.facebook.com/ToniUnleashed  Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAMxTEiHqRkpWNakn4OA__A  TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@healthypetproducts / https://www.tiktok.com/@toni.unleashed  Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/HealthyPetProducts/ X: https://twitter.com/HealthyPetPgh

Mexican cartels, primarily known for their drug trafficking operations in the Americas, have expanded their reach globally, including into Australia. Here's a summary of how they've expanded their operations into Australia:Globalization of Drug Trade: As law enforcement efforts intensify in traditional drug trafficking routes like the United States, Mexican cartels have sought out new markets to diversify their operations. Australia, with its high demand for illicit drugs and relatively lucrative market prices, has become an attractive destination.Establishment of Transnational Networks: Mexican cartels have established transnational networks that span across multiple continents. These networks often involve partnerships with local criminal groups in Australia, facilitating the distribution and sale of narcotics within the country.Mode of Transportation: Cartels typically use various methods to transport drugs into Australia, including concealment in shipping containers, commercial cargo, and even through the use of couriers. They exploit vulnerabilities in border security and customs enforcement to smuggle narcotics into the country.Money Laundering Operations: In addition to trafficking drugs, Mexican cartels engage in sophisticated money laundering operations to conceal the proceeds of their illicit activities. They often use shell companies, front businesses, and international financial networks to launder drug proceeds and repatriate profits back to Mexico.Corruption and Bribery: Cartels may also engage in corruption and bribery to facilitate their operations in Australia. This could involve bribing officials at ports of entry, law enforcement agencies, or even government officials to turn a blind eye to their activities or provide protection.Use of Technology: Mexican cartels are known to adapt to technological advancements to evade law enforcement efforts. They may utilize encrypted communication channels, cryptocurrency transactions, and other sophisticated techniques to coordinate their operations and conceal their identities.Violence and Intimidation: While not as prevalent in Australia compared to their operations in Mexico or the United States, Mexican cartels may resort to violence and intimidation tactics to maintain control over their operations and eliminate rival groups or individuals who pose a threat to their business interests. In this episode we discuss the growth of the Mexican cartels influence in Australia and how it's leading to a huge increase in high grade synthetic drugs pouring into the country, helping fuel it's growing addiction problem.(commercial at 10:45)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Drug cartels in Mexico flood Australia with meth (nypost.com)

Eric Newman and Kate Wolf speak with writer Craig Seligman about his recent book, Who Does That Bitch Think She is? Doris Fish and The Rise of Drag. The book follows the story of the groundbreaking drag queen, performer, and artist Doris Fish, who was born in Australia in the early 1950s as Philip Mills. Seligman initially wrote about Fish in the 1980s after they met through his boyfriend in San Francisco. He builds on his past interviews to recount Fish's life, from her early days in Sydney when she was a member of the outre drag group Silvia and the Synthetics, to her time living in San Francisco, where she moved in the late 1970s. She formed the group Sluts A-Go-Go there, and went on to become one of the city's most celebrated performers, writing and starring in the cult film Vegas in Space, and staging increasingly avant-garde and political performances until her death from AIDS in 1991. In addition to Fish's story, Seligman looks at larger attitudes toward drag, both within the queer community and outside of it, elucidating the way drag has seeped into popular culture and why it still remains a radical act today. Also, Joanna Biggs, author of A Life of One's Own, returns to recommend Still Born, a novel by Guadalupe Nettel, translated by Rosalind Harvey.

Biohacking Superhuman Performance

While you may be familiar with the nine hallmarks of aging, over the past several years there have been an additional five added to that list. It might seem overwhelming to have 14 aging processes to keep up with, but it's important to understand that many of them, if not all of them, are essentially interrelated.    One thing we've learned about these processes that drive aging are that they are done at a cellular and systemic level. This gives us the opportunity to try and intercept and correct them so that we can live longer, healthier lives.   I'm joined by Leslie Kenny, Founder of Oxford Healthspan and Co-Founder of the Oxford Longevity Project. We're talking all about the hallmarks of aging, including how the processes are interconnected, and what we can do to slow these processes down. We also dive into polyamines, specifically spermidine, and how it can boost autophagy.   Leslie Kenny is an autoimmune survivor/thriver, certified health coach and Founder and CEO of Oxford Healthspan, bringing to consumers the latest scientifically based molecules proven to slow aging.   She is also the Co-Founder of the non-profit Oxford Longevity Project which aims to bring the latest scientific breakthroughs on healthy aging to the general public. Leslie holds degrees from Berkeley and Harvard. What we discuss: 00:01:38 - The symposiums and organizations Leslie is connected to  00:11:21 - The first nine hallmarks of aging 00:15:25 - Inflammation, gut dysbiosis, and autophagy  00:22:22 - The effects of fasting on the body 00:30:09 - The dysregulated RNA process 00:36:03 - What are polyamines? 00:44:42 - How do people get polyamines into their diet?  00:51:40 - Synthetics vs. food derived  00:57:17 - The benefits of spermidine supplements  Key Takeaways: Polyamines are derived from amino acids, and they play a role in slowing down the process of aging. The most well known polyamine is spermidine, and it helps to boost autophagy. There are many other molecules in foods and whole food sources, so it is important to consume nutrients through eating whole foods. The body is able to regenerate and self renew itself if we're able to remove the obstacles and facilitate those processes. Leslie's top suggestions for longevity include eating intentionally, joyful movement, sleep, and early morning sunlight.
