Known for its simple, high-quality menu featuring cheesesteaks, cold subs, and milkshakes, Woody’s sources bread from New Jersey’s Liscio’s Bakery. Co-owners Steven Renner and Matt Porcelli celebrated the grand opening, highlighting the community’s warm welcome and the restaurant’s focus on quality and family-like teamwork. STORY 3: First Friday Concert Series Returns to Downtown Kennesaw The Kennesaw Downtown Development Authority and Merchants Association are reviving the First Friday Concert Series for its fifth year. The updated version, led by Rep. Sharon Cooper, allows access to puberty blockers but imposes stricter requirements, including evaluations by two behavioral health specialists and a pediatric endocrinologist. Critics argue the bill still limits parental rights and access to care, while supporters cite concerns over long-term effects like bone density loss. Medical experts remain divided, with major health organizations supporting gender-affirming care. The bill passed the House committee and awaits further votes, sparking ongoing debate over its implications. STORY 5: 'A Long Process': Marietta Cuts Ribbon on Powder Springs Streetscape Marietta celebrated the completion of its $12 million Powder Springs Street makeover with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The project, funded by 1% sales tax referendums, includes new sidewalks, landscaped medians, decorative lighting, and re-timed traffic signals, improving safety and traffic flow. Travel time has been reduced by up to two minutes, even during rush hour. The upgrades also feature a trail connecting to the Mountain to River Trail and aesthetic enhancements like matching stonework. Begun in 2021, the project faced delays due to supply chain issues but is now a key gateway to downtown Marietta. Future streetscape projects are planned. Emerson Records was an American record company and label created by Victor hugo Emerson in 1915.Victor was the chief recording engineer at Columbia Records. In 1914 he left the company, created the Emerson Phonograph Company, and then Emerson Records the following year. He began producing small records, 5-inch discs that sold for 10 cents and 7-inch discs that sold for 25 cents. under the brand name G Clef, an homage to Emerson's original beginnings ..who would have thought the Emerson Radio Corporation one of the United States' largest volume consumer electronics distributors and has a recognized trademark in continuous use since 1912, all began with a scandal

Most folks call them Grace out of drag.  Recent writing credits include sketch comedy with Kahoots Comedy and two audio dramas, Stretchy Shorts and Crocodile Twins, for the podcast platform Artist Soapbox.  Through the Center for Documentary Summer Studies Intensive, they co-created a short documentary called Call Me Harriet Tubman about their friend Muffin, who founded the North Carolina Community Bail Fund of Durham.  Recent acting credits include Dreaming (assistant puppeteer) with Duke Performances and Freakshow (Mr. Flip) with The Women's Theatre Festival. They also host and produce a podcast called Go With Grace in which they discuss the impact of white Christian supremacy on our daily lives for the organization Soulforce. To Be Young, Gifted, And Weldon Irvine   What do Nina Simone, A Tribe Called Quest, Freddie Hubbard, Mos Def, Richard "Groove" Holmes, Boogie Down Productions, Horace Silver, 4-Hero, Aretha Franklin, Talib Kweli, Stanley Turrentine, and Jay-Z all have in common?!   If you answered Weldon Irvine, you are correct. If you didn't, then let us turn you on to this amazing artist. His work crosses the decades from hip-hop, to musical theatre, to having created what may very well be the greatest anthem to the Civil Rights movement: "To Be Young, Gifted, and Black." He was a legend to those who knew him as a teacher, a band member, and a beloved friend. Digging For Weldon is an upcoming documentary about Master Wel (as he was called in person) himself, and we're lucky enough to speak to producers Victorious DeCosta and G-Clef the Mad Composer about the journey they took to understand the man–both his struggles with his art and with ultimately with himself.
