New flexibilities in delivering flu vaccinations could be a ‘game-changer’, but without them, pharmacies may struggle to run a flu vaccination program at all this winter. Pharmacies are preparing for what is expected to be a surge in flu vaccinations this year as Americans are putting a greater focus on staying healthy amid the coronavirus pandemic. Pharmacies are preparing for what is expected to be a surge in flu vaccinations this year as Americans are putting a greater focus on staying healthy amid the coronavirus pandemic.  In anticipation of that double whammy of flu and covid-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, flu vaccine manufacturers have boosted production by about 15 percent, to record levels, with nearly 200 million doses for the United States. During the 2019-2020 flu season, more than the 175 million doses were churned out, industry officials said. September is just around the corner, and Labor Day cookouts are mere days away. While this celebration marks the relative end of the summer, for the kids in your life, it also means it’s time to go back to school. Emotions are high this time of year. Kids want to make a good impression, sporting the latest fashions and newest gear to impress their friends. Their parents, in turn, want to make sure they’re prepared with enough food and the right supplies to make it through their day. Pharmacy Owners should be equally energized. Back-to-school season is a big deal in this country: In previous years, retailers saw roughly $828 billion in sales during the back-to-school season. Right now the only retail holiday bringing in more cash in the U.S. is the so-called “winter holiday” where holly jolly gift-giving frenzies dominate buying patterns. So when does this holiday officially start? Some brands begin their marketing campaigns as early as July, not long after those Independence Day fireworks fizzle out. That’s partly because there’s no standard school start date in the U.S. Some districts in Arizona, for example, begin as early as mid July. Students in Boston, however, won’t be boarding their school buses until early September. Check out:  PharmacyMarketing.com  See omnystudio.com/policies/listener for privacy information.

Differentiate via Value-based Pharmacy Care - PPN Episode 755

Cardinal Health sponsored several podcast episodes featuring several dynamic pharmacy professionals making a difference in our healthcare system delivery models. Nicolle McClure, president of GRX Marketing interviewed pharmacy owners and a physician to better outline the benefits of Value-based Pharmacy Care. Value-based Pharmacy care is a healthcare delivery model in which providers, including, pharmacists, hospitals and physicians, are paid based on patient health outcomes. Under value-based care agreements, providers are rewarded for helping patients improve their health, reduce the effects and incidence of chronic disease, and live healthier lives in an evidence-based way. Value-based care differs from a fee-for-service or capitated approach, in which providers are paid based on the amount of healthcare services they deliver. The “value” in value-based healthcare is derived from measuring health outcomes against the cost of delivering the outcomes. The benefits of a value-based healthcare system extend to patients, providers, payers, suppliers, and society as a whole. We thank Cardinal Health for their investment into the Pharmacy Podcast Network and supporting our interviews.  Learn more:  https://www.cardinalhealth.com/en/essential-insights/value-based-care-often-begins-with-the-supply-chain.html  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The classic definition of Marketing essentials is known as the “4 P's” – Price, Product, Promotion and Place/Position. Marketing textbooks from the 50's to the 80's always identified these factors as the fundamental ingredients of effective Marketing. But just knowing the “4 P's” for a given business enterprise does not automatically generate productive Marketing activity. The 4 P's are merely the building blocks of a concerted and sustained Marketing effort. In the same way that gathering 150lbs of carbon, iron, calcium, sodium and other natural elements and combining them with several gallons of water does NOT produce a human being, defining a particular company's 4 P's does not spontaneously result in the successful marketing of the firms' products and services.      If the 4 P's are the bricks and mortar, you still need tools to build anything with them. And there are lots of tools – advertising campaigns, promotional plans, coupons, editorials, press and analyst interviews, conference papers, datasheets, product briefs, brochures and more.  Pharmacy Marketing expert - Nicolle McClure with GRX Marketing - Pharmacy  returns to the show with Pharmacy owner / customer Eric Pusey - Medicap Pharmacy.  GRX Marketing 2929 Westown Parkway, Suite 100 West Des Moines, IA 50266  515-280-2913 info@grxmarketing.com  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
