As the year comes to a close, young investors have a unique opportunity to make small moves that can compound into meaningful long-term results. In this episode, we walk through a practical, end-of-year checklist designed for early-career investors who want to stay organized, tax-aware, and financially disciplined. Lance Roberts & Jonathan Penn cover how to confirm you're capturing all available employer benefits, including 401(k) or 403(b) matches and vesting schedules. We also discuss how to think about Roth IRAs, HSAs, and other tax-advantaged accounts early in your career—when time is often your greatest asset. On the investment side, we review simple allocation checks, diversification risks, and why staying invested through volatility matters. We also highlight tax-smart considerations like capital gains awareness, loss harvesting, and stock-compensation planning for ESPPs and RSUs. Finally, we address the foundational elements of financial stability: emergency savings, cash management, credit health, and high-interest debt. This checklist is not about speculation—it's about building durable financial habits that support long-term wealth creation. 0:00 - INTRO 0:19 - Wealth by Brackets 3:39 - Will the Santa Rally be Delayed? 9:02 - Open Enrollment & Benefits Tips 16:12 - 401k/IRA Contributions & Employer Matches 24:26 - Investment Choices in 401k's 26:56 - Tracking Down old 401k's 29:38 - Understanding Vesting Schedules 32:29 - Catching Up in 401k 33:58 - Wills, Estate Plans, & Beneficiary Designations 36:26 - Checking for Leakage 39:55 - Annual Credit Report Review 41:18 - Comniog Attractions Hosted by RIA Advisors Chief Investment Strategist, Lance Roberts, CIO, w Senior Investment Advisor, Jonathan Penn, CFP Produced by Brent Clanton, Executive Producer ------- Watch Today's Full Video on our YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Wyudzh3naw&list=PLVT8LcWPeAugpcGzM8hHyEP11lE87RYPe&index=1 ------- The latest installment of our new feature, Before the Bell, "Data, Volatility & Santa Rally Risk," is here: https://youtu.be/gnorFZc1qM8 ------- REGISTER for our 2026 Economic Summit, "The Future of Digital Assets, Artificial Intelligence, and Investing:" https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2026-ria-economic-summit-tickets-1765951641899?aff=oddtdtcreator ------- Watch our previous show, "Facing Your Financial Ghosts," here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ypp_HKgciow&list=PLwNgo56zE4RAbkqxgdj-8GOvjZTp9_Zlz&index=1 -------- Get more info & commentary: https://realinvestm entadvice.com/newsletter/ -------- SUBSCRIBE to The Real Investment Show here: http://www.youtube.com/c/TheRealInvestmentShow -------- Visit our Site: https://www.realinvestmentadvice.com Contact Us: 1-855-RIA-PLAN -------- Subscribe to SimpleVisor: https://www.simplevisor.com/register-new -------- Connect with us on social: https://twitter.com/RealInvAdvice https://twitter.com/LanceRoberts https://www.facebook.com/RealInvestmentAdvice/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/realinvestmentadvice/ #MarketOutlook #SantaClausRally #Volatility #RiskManagement #StockMarketAnalysis #YoungInvestors #PersonalFinance #YearEndPlanning #InvestingBasics #FinancialWellness

Marq unpacks the powerful origin story of Christian Care Ministry, explains the difference between healthcare sharing and traditional insurance, and shares how Medi-Share offers a biblical, community-centered alternative rooted in generosity, stewardship, and the early church model in Acts. Together, Zach and Marq break down why healthcare costs are skyrocketing, what families need to know during Open Enrollment, and how healthcare sharing can create significant financial margin without compromising Christian conviction. The conversation also dives deep into the issues families are facing right now, from the post-COVID mental health crisis, to the rising need for whole-person care. Marq shares how CCM is meeting these challenges through expanded counseling access, Christ-centered support, and a culture shaped by prayer, Scripture, and spiritual wellness. Drawing from his own battle with long-term COVID symptoms, Marq reflects on how his faith grounded him through recovery and why spiritual health must return to the center of the healthcare conversation. If you’ve ever wondered whether faith-based healthcare sharing is right for your family, this episode provides the clarity, hope, and practical insight you need. Why Christians Are Choosing CHM During Open Enrollment with Lauren Gajdek

Many people say our healthcare system is broken—and maybe you've felt that yourself.Rising costs, denied claims, and surprise bills have left millions of Americans buried in medical debt. But there's a better, biblical way to approach healthcare—one that has been serving Christians for more than forty years. Lauren Gajdek joins us today to tell us all about it.Lauren Gajdek is the Senior Director of External Affairs at Christian Healthcare Ministries (CHM), an underwriter of Faith & Finance. Why an “Open Enrollment” Campaign for a Year-Round Ministry? While CHM accepts new members year-round, their Open Enrollment Campaign—running from November 1 through January 15—aligns with the period when most Americans review or change their health coverage through employers or government exchanges. This is the time of year when people are thinking about healthcare decisions. So even though CHM is open year-round, it's an excellent opportunity to shine a light on a biblical alternative. Many Americans have grown frustrated with their healthcare experiences. CHM hears from countless people who've paid premiums for years, only to find that help is unavailable when they need it most. It's disheartening. You think your provider is in-network, but later find out they're not. That leaves patients confused and financially burdened. It's a system that often leaves believers wondering if there's a better way. That sense of frustration has become widespread—especially as over 100 million Americans now carry medical debt, a staggering sign of a broken system. How CHM Differs from InsuranceCHM operates from a radically different model. Rather than paying into a profit-driven system, CHM members share each other's medical expenses—a reflection of biblical community and mutual care. They've been around since 1981 and have shared or satisfied over $13 billion in medical bills. They're a nonprofit ministry that helps Christians live out their faith through practical care.Unlike traditional insurance, CHM members can visit any doctor or hospital they choose—there are no in-network restrictions—as long as the treatment meets the ministry's guidelines. It's simple, affordable, and rooted in biblical stewardship. Members have the freedom and peace of mind that come with knowing they're part of a community that cares. At its core, CHM is not an insurance company—it's a Christ-centered community built on shared values. Members give monthly to help other believers in need. It's an act of faith and stewardship. And for most people, it's far more affordable than traditional plans. This affordability and flexibility are especially appealing for Christians seeking to align their healthcare decisions with their faith and values.Guidance for Those Exploring Their OptionsFor anyone comparing healthcare choices this season, approach the decision prayerfully and with an open mind. You don't have to be trapped in a broken insurance system. There's a proven, Christ-centered way to handle your healthcare. Go to CHMinistries.org/FaithFi to find a cost comparison tool that shows how CHM can make care more affordable. Many in the Faith & Finance audience are retirees or nearing retirement. So it's important to note that CHM also complements Medicare, helping cover eligible expenses Medicare may not cover. It's what they call a ‘complementary' approach, where CHM can help cover costs Medicare doesn't pay, as long as they fall within its guidelines.FaithFi is grateful for CHM's partnership and their ongoing commitment to helping believers steward their healthcare costs wisely. You don't have to settle for a system that's broken. There's a biblical, community-based way to manage your healthcare needs. Learn more at CHMinistries.org/FaithFi.On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:A pastor friend of mine was told he owes $13,000 in taxes because his preparer made a mistake. He doesn't have the money to pay for it. Where can he turn for help?I own a small business structured as an LLC, and I'm confused about how to tithe. Should I tithe personally from what I pay myself, from the business profits at year-end, or both?I'm a pastor, and one of my church members is struggling. Learn how to pick dental, vision, life, and disability coverage with confidence, and when refinancing a home can actually save you money. Is now a good time to refinance your mortgage? Which open enrollment benefits are worth it this year? Hosts Sean Pyles and Elizabeth Ayoola talk to an expert about the ins and outs of open enrollment in 2026. But first, news Nerd Anna Helhoski joins them to share her conversation with NerdWallet mortgage writer Holden Lewis about falling mortgage rates and what they mean for buyers, sellers, and homeowners. They begin with a discussion of refinancing and today's housing market, with tips and tricks on using a refinance calculator, how much of a rate cut to target, weighing closing costs and the break-even timeline, and other smart reasons to refi. Then, benefits expert April Brasher, knowledge advisor at the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), joins Sean and Elizabeth to discuss open enrollment choices beyond health insurance. They discuss what dental and vision plans usually cover and what they don't, how and when to add to group life insurance provided by some workplaces, and how disability insurance works. They also discuss when accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D), hospital indemnity, and critical illness policies can make sense, how to avoid being over-insured, and why taking a quick personal and financial inventory before enrollment deadlines helps you choose only what you need. Learn how to pick the right health plan for your situation and build a stronger retirement even if you feel behind. How do you choose the best health plan during open enrollment? What can you do to secure retirement if savings feel like they're falling short? In the first of a two-part series, hosts Sean Pyles and Elizabeth Ayoola break down open enrollment decisions so you can protect your health and long-term wealth. But first, NerdWallet senior writer Kim Palmer joins them to present this month's book club conversation about Gen X's path to retirement security. She talks to Kerry Hannon and Janna Herron, authors of “Retirement Bites: A Gen X Guide to Securing Your Financial Future,” about how to take control of retirement even when you feel like you're late to the game. That includes revisiting cash flow and lifestyle creep, attacking high-interest debt, considering step-down or flexible work to extend earning years, and planning for healthcare costs in retirement.   Then, NerdWallet writer Kate Ashford joins Sean and Elizabeth to present a clear walkthrough of healthcare plans as we enter open enrollment season. She discusses premiums vs. deductibles vs. out-of-pocket maximums, when an HMO or PPO fits best, and how Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) work — including the triple-tax edge of HSAs. They share practical, listener-first guidance on running plan comparisons, checking drug prices and doctor networks, watching ACA subsidy changes and deadlines, and building a values-driven, realistic retirement health plan you can start acting on today. A standoff in Congress is keeping much of the federal government shut down as open enrollment begins in most states for Affordable Care Act plans. Democrats have refused to vote on spending until Republicans agree to extend more generous ACA premium tax credits, but so far there has been little negotiating — even as customers are learning what they'll pay for coverage next year. Meanwhile, the Trump administration is telling states they can't pass their own laws to keep medical debt off consumers' credit reports, after killing a Biden-era effort to end the practice nationwide. Paige Winfield Cunningham of The Washington Post, Alice Miranda Ollstein of Politico, and Maya Goldman of Axios join KFF Health News' Julie Rovner to discuss those stories and more. Plus, for “extra credit” the panelists suggest health policy stories they read this week that they think you should read, too: Julie Rovner: KFF Health News' “Many Fear Federal Loan Caps Will Deter Aspiring Doctors and Worsen MD Shortage,” by Bernard J. Wolfson. Alice Miranda Ollstein: ProPublica's “Citing Trump Order on ‘Biological Truth,' VA Makes It Harder for Male Veterans With Breast Cancer To Get Coverage,” by Eric Umansky.  Paige Winfield Cunningham: The Washington Post's “Study Finds mRNA Coronavirus Vaccines Prolonged Life of Cancer Patients,” by Mark Johnson.  Maya Goldman: KFF Health News' “As Sports Betting Explodes, States Try To Set Limits To Stop Gambling Addiction,” by Karen Brown, New England Public Media.
