In this high-impact episode, Todd Eury leads a grounded and insightful discussion about smarter pharmacy purchasing in one of the most challenging business climates pharmacy has ever faced. Joined by Josh Miller of HAC Pharmacies and SureCost founder Calvin Hunsicker, the conversation reveals both the pain points and the real-world solutions driving meaningful change for pharmacy leaders. Josh shares how managing procurement for 24 pharmacy locations used to mean hours of manual price comparisons and reactive decisions. That changed when his team adopted SureCost—resulting in over $200,000 in savings every four months. Josh walks listeners through the implementation journey, staff adoption, and the purchasing tools that now empower his team to make confident, data-driven decisions. Calvin brings industry-wide context with findings from the 2025 Smarter Purchasing Report, highlighting stubborn inefficiencies in pharmacy procurement and why so many organizations still rely on outdated processes. He unpacks key data trends, the surprising insights from this year's report, and what leaders can take away to begin transforming their own operations. This episode is more than a success story—it's a strategic playbook for pharmacy operators who are ready to lead through disruption, adapt to pricing volatility, and take back control of their margins.

In this episode of This Week in Pharmacy for May 16th, 2025, Pharmacy Podcast Network founder Todd Eury is joined by his co-host Dr. Ryan Paul Liabenow, PhD, CEO of Mango Health as they review TWIRx News. Our first segment, we explore the transformative potential of the Long-Term Care at Home (LTC@Home) pharmacy model. As healthcare shifts towards home-based care, pharmacies have a unique opportunity to expand their services beyond traditional settings.  Key Discussion Points: Strategic Partnership Spotlight: We delve into the recent collaboration between RxSafe/Eyecon, PharmaComplete, and the LTC@Home Pharmacy Network. This alliance aims to revolutionize pharmacy operations through automation and expert consulting, enhancing patient care in the LTC@Home space. Expert Insights: Paul Shelton, founder of PharmaComplete and co-founder of the LTC@Home Pharmacy Network, shares his extensive experience in pharmacy operations and discusses strategies for pharmacies to successfully implement LTC@Home services. Automation in Focus: We examine how RxSafe's Eyecon technology, including RapidPakRx and RapidCardRx, is streamlining compliance packaging and improving workflow efficiency for pharmacies transitioning to the LTC@Home model.  Business Transformation: Learn how integrating LTC@Home services can lead to increased prescription volumes, enhanced patient outcomes, and new revenue streams for pharmacies. Why This Matters: The LTC@Home model represents a significant shift in pharmacy services, aligning with the broader trend of patient-centered, home-based care. By adopting this model, pharmacies can play a pivotal role in reducing hospitalizations and improving the quality of life for patients requiring long-term care.   On the second feature, we spotlight a remarkable family legacy that's shaped community pharmacy in Salt Lake City for over 70 years. We're talking about Jolley's Compounding Pharmacy—a third-generation, family-owned pharmacy that continues to blend tradition with innovation.   From the pioneering vision of Joel Jolley in 1954 to the modern leadership of Dean Jolley, R.Ph., and now Dr. Benjamin Jolley, the Jolley family has remained committed to personalized care, compounding excellence, and pharmacist-driven leadership. Ben is joined by his sister, Megan Jolley Milne, PharmD, BCACP, entrepreneur and CEO of Nutranize.    This Episode is sponsored by Independent Pharmacy Cooperative (IPC) and Eyecon RxSafe.    Connect with Us: For more insights and updates, follow This Week in Pharmacy on LinkedIn and Twitter.

If you're interested in podcasting, pod-guesting or public speaking, you need to listen to this episode. My guest today is Dr. Danielle Plummer, host of the MaternalRx Podcast on the Pharmacy Podcast Network.    Pharmacists can play a crucial role in maternal health. Advocacy and education are critical in improving maternal care. Listen and learn from Dr. Plummer on the MaternalRx Podcast!    Click to read the FULL show notes: https://www.thepharmacistsvoice.com/podcast (select episode 329)   Bio - Danielle Plummer, PharmD (May 2025) Danielle Plummer, PharmD, is a third-generation pharmacist and host of the MaternalRx podcast on the Pharmacy Podcast Network. She earned her PharmD from Creighton University in 2016 and has since had a broad pharmacy career spanning retail, hospital, consulting, and medical affairs.   Combining clinical expertise with lived experience, Danielle specializes in supporting pregnant patients, particularly those suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG). After studying treatments for other diseases of malnutrition in pharmacy school, she became certified in pharmacogenetics and as an antepartum doula. This, along with a community of pharmacy entrepreneurs, inspired her to launch HG Pharmacist©, a blog to share information about HG, which later grew into Obstet-Rx©, a consulting company offering personalized medication management and patient advocacy to women worldwide.   Her subject matter expertise has led to board member appointments, speaking engagements, and media contributions for international magazines. In her work as an MSL, she has supported diagnostics for preeclampsia (sFlt-1/PlGF) and procalcitonin, as well as therapies for iron deficiency anemia and small cell lung cancer.   Through her podcast, Danielle shows how pharmacists play a key role in improving maternal outcomes. (End bio)    Backstory Danielle and I met at Medipreneurs several years ago and have kept in touch. I enjoyed getting to know her better during this interview.
