Due to Eddie Vedder's case of food poisoning that affected Pearl Jam's 1995 show at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, California, many of the remaining dates on that summer's run had to be rescheduled for the fall. The band played five shows in the first week of November that started with two in Salt Lake City, then a make up for Golden Gate in San Jose before finishing up in one of Ed's old stomping grounds for two shows in San Diego. Since this episode covers the last night of the tour year, we'll get to tackle a show that can be seen as a full circle moment with special performances that truly defined their setlists and sound in 1995. First of all, this is a very heavy Jack Irons show - something that we always wax poetically about whenever we get the opportunity to cover one of the few years that he was with the group. He's presence is hypnotic. Every time you hear a Jack performance, you can instantly notice that it's him behind the kit. This show features some incredible versions of Jack songs, but perhaps none better than Corduroy with a solo that is absolutely out of this world. We'll also dig into his "surf rock" influence on Alive and profound tempo on Oceans. This show also features what are considered the rare gems of 1995 such as the alternate version entitled No (or New) Jeremy, Red Mosquito in it's infancy and a full band OTOTO performance of legendary Who song, I Can't Explain. We invite in Patrick Boegel from the Hallucinogenic Recipe podcast to help out on this one, and we'll make an attempt to figure out whether Howard Stern had the right to be upset with Ed for calling Glorified G "a song I hate". Yes, this show features THAT version! Visit the Concertpedia - http://liveon4legs.com Contact the Show - liveon4legspodcast@gmail.com Donate to the Show - http://patreon.com/liveon4legs

Sarah shares how her lived experience in foster care motivated her to become an outspoken advocate for extending the age of foster care emancipation to twenty-one. She passionately advocated for the passing of Assembly Bill 12 (AB 12) which became law in 2010, creating California's Extended Foster Care (EFC) Program. At JBAY, Sarah continued her advocacy by establishing support programs for students with foster care experience on every public post-secondary campus in the state of California. To date, JBAY has championed over fifty-five legislative reforms and secured $3.6 billion in new state and federal investments for youth in foster care or experiencing homelessness.

For our first full episode of Season 9, we are humbled to welcome Bishop Michael Pham of the Diocese of San Diego, CA. Bishop Pham was the first U.S. bishop appointed by Pope Leo XIV. He shares the harrowing story of fleeing Vietnam as a young boy on a small boat that nearly capsized in the sea. Bishop Pham also talks about an experience this summer attending immigration court to walk with migrants. He calls out our immigration enforcement approach that is criminalizing migrants and separating families, when our country should be a place of refuge, as it was for him and his family decades ago.Brian and Joe open up the new season talking about what it means to find refuge. Brian shares the story of Naomi, a single mom from Honduras with a five-month old son. They were denied refuge in the U.S. when they crossed the border and were rapidly sent back into Mexico. At the local shelter, the women rallied to support this young mother, showing her what it means to provide refuge. Joe shares the story of Marialex, a young girl in Matamoros, who showed how small actions can speak loudly in offering welcome and inclusion. She is basically our altar server all-star, and you will understand why.

Everyone knows that Seattle is Pearl Jam's hometown city, but just like Chicago is a hometown city for Eddie Vedder, so is San Diego. Not just that, but it extends to both Mike McCready and Matt Cameron as well. So any time that the band gets to travel to San Diego, there's no doubt that you're in for a special show. In 2006, that's exactly what happens. The band played with their pants on fire and every song had high octane energy as the hometown crowd was treated to something special. The main story from this show took place at the top of the encore where Ed paid tribute to his former drama teacher, a man named Clayton E. Liggett, who Ed had a theater created in his name. He told the story about finding out the night he passed away during the Mirrorball sessions. After hearing of the news, he went back into the studio and started to strum his guitar with the opening chord of what would become Long Road. We'll talk about how important this moment was when looking back on the history of this band, and we'll also share our own personal stories of how teachers have impacted our lives. There are so many ways we can all connect to Ed, and this story is transcendent due to his vulnerability in sharing that. There are also some big time performances at this show. The first four songs of this show from Oceans to Brain Of J. set the bar incredibly high for the night, and then incredible performances to follow such as Even Flow, You Are, Satan's Bed, Inside Job, Rearviewmirror with a Life Wasted inspired improv, Crown Of Thorns, a big time Alive solo and the debut of Big Wave. We'll spend the episode discussing which 2006 shows best define this era and if this show deserves to be in the conversation. Is this a candidate for the Live On 4 Legs hall of fame? The killer portion of this set comes as Drums ends, the band goes into a great Other One -- Phil really seems to be enjoying this one as he leads the charge throughout.. A sweet Stella Blue follows then an unusual ending as instead of Around and Around we get Man Smart, Woman Smarter into Johnny B. Goode not as the encore but as the set closer. I felt so isolated.  There was no one within my family, at work, at church or within my friend group who understood or could relate to what I was going through."SFN Mentor Fathers share their experiences with younger dads closer to the beginning of their journey raising a child with the same or similar special needs. The SFN Mentor Fathers do NOT offer legal or medical advice, that is what lawyers and doctors do. They simply share their experiences and how they have made the most of challenging situations.Check out the 21CD YouTube Channel with dozens of videos on topics relevant to dads raising children with special needs - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzDFCvQimWNEb158ll6Q4cA/videosPlease support the SFN.
