Perfectionism has a sneaky way of turning a perfectly good life into a project you can never finish. I sit down with author, fiber artist, and motivational speaker Lorie Kleiner Eckhert to talk about reinvention, resilience, and the moment you decide that “good enough” is not failure, it's freedom. Lorie's newest book, Chai On Life (a playful nod to “chai,” the Hebrew word for life), becomes our jumping-off point for how to move through big transitions with more self-trust and less self-criticism.We get practical and personal: why many of us wait decades to give ourselves permission to do what makes us happy, what divorce and midlife singlehood taught Lorie about independence, and how a complicated “perfect” chicken soup recipe captures the problem with overthinking everything. Lorie also shares how quilts became her visual storytelling tool on stages from PTAs to Procter & Gamble, and why returning to simpler, more durable creativity helped her come back to herself. If you're feeling stuck, Lorie offers a clear two-step reinvention plan: keep your healthy daily routine even when you're hurting, then take one tiny step a day toward your new life and write it down in an accountability log. We also normalize therapy and counseling as ongoing emotional support, not a last resort, and we end with a favorite idea: being “flawsome” and giving yourself credit for the brave next step.Subscribe for more conversations on personal growth, mental fitness, creativity, and navigating life transitions, then share this with a friend who needs a little lift and leave a review so more people can find us. If you've ever deleted a draft, spiraled after a post flopped, or found yourself checking your analytics like you're waiting on a text back, this episode is for you. Most people think their content problem is strategy, but today we're getting honest about what's really going on. A toxic relationship with content looks like emotional dependency on metrics, disappearing after bad posts, and constantly shape-shifting your ideas for approval. We're breaking down the 3 self-trust creator profiles: low, medium, and high, so you can identify exactly where you are right now and understand how content may be having too much emotional control over your confidence and identity. The fastest-growing creators trust themselves before they get the validation, and this episode shows you how to do the same. You'll walk away with a 4-stage plan to rebuild self-trust: detaching your nervous system from performance, creating original ideas without seeking approval, building evidence that you can handle visibility, and developing a sustainable creative rhythm that you can actually repeat. This episode is your reminder that you're not going to stop posting. So it's time to decide, commit, and stop giving your brain the option to bail. Building a personal brand requires you to show up, and that starts with learning to trust yourself in the process first. In today's episode, we're chatting about: Your content problem isn't strategy — it's your relationship with content Checking analytics obsessively is the content version of waiting on a text back Low self-trust creators copy others, panic over metrics, and need validation to keep going High self-trust creators post before they feel ready and recover quickly from bad posts Stop giving your brain the escape route — no more "I'll just start a new account" Posting practice is the skill; self-trust is what makes it sustainable You're not going to quit, so decide and commit CONNECT: Connect with me on Instagram to see how I apply what I talk about on the episodes. What he built on the other side of that journey is one of the most thoughtful, science-backed, and genuinely human approaches to recovery I've ever come across.Jimmie's guiding principle is simple but powerful: there are as many doorways to recovery as there are people. The moment you force everyone through the same door, you start losing them. Guest JoAnne Duncan has had a varied career, from Alaskan fly-fishing guide to elementary teacher and principal, always focused on valuing the strengths of every student and staff member. Though she's stepped away from her career in public education, she continues to learn, grow, and inspire others. A lifelong learner, she finds joy and insight outdoors, exploring nature, and discovering new ideas, always growing, always learning, and always curious.   Summary In this episode, JoAnne reflects on her unconventional path into education, her transition into school leadership, and ultimately her decision to leave the profession. Initially drawn to teaching through a lifelong inclination to instruct and guide others, she became a principal after experiencing ineffective leadership that she felt failed both teachers and students. Her administrative career, particularly during and after the pandemic, became increasingly defined by crisis management rather than instructional leadership. She describes the growing demands of handling high-needs students, safety concerns, constant meetings, and a lack of systemic support. These pressures led to chronic stress, emotional exhaustion, and a decline in her physical health. Despite leading a "dream school" with a strong staff, the cumulative toll forced her to step away in 2024. Since leaving, JoAnne has focused on what she calls "radical self-care," prioritizing physical and mental health through activities like yoga, swimming, and surfing in Hawaii. This period of recovery has restored her well-being and opened space for reflection about her future. While she continues to enjoy substitute teaching, she is exploring new directions, particularly those involving helping others, possibly through fitness, motivation, or personal growth. The conversation emphasizes uncertainty as a productive space. Inspired by the idea of "falling in love with questions," JoAnne commits to exploring possibilities without rushing toward definitive answers, remaining open to curiosity, serendipity, and personal evolution. A key takeaway Sustained burnout from systemic pressures can force even the most dedicated educators to step away—but recovery, reflection, and openness to uncertainty can create space for a more aligned and healthy next chapter. This episode is a masterclass in courage, identity, self-efficacy, and what becomes possible when you stop letting age (or other people's opinions) define you.  Meet Dr. Sandra Scheinbaum  Dr. Sandy Scheinbaum has worn many professional hats across five decades:  Elementary education teacher — pivoted after struggling with classroom management  Learning disabilities specialist — thrived in one-on-one settings  Independent floor trader at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange — a short-lived but clarifying experiment  Clinical and health psychologist — a long, fulfilling career specializing in chronic illness, biofeedback, and mind-body medicine  Functional medicine practitioner — added certification to deepen her clinical work  Founder & CEO of FMCA — launched at 65 to train health coaches in functional medicine and positive psychology principles    What You'll Hear in This Episode  Why failure and "career dead ends" are often the best redirects  How Sandy tuned out the naysayers — including her own husband — and launched FMCA anyway  The role courage, creativity, and community play in reinvention at any age  Why identity is not fixed — and how midlife is a profound opportunity for identity development  Sandy's daily movement routine: strength training, ballet, tap dance, yoga, and "exercise snacks"  How self-efficacy — the belief that your actions matter — is the foundation of health transformation  What happens to self-efficacy after betrayal, and how the right support can restore it  How health coaches trained in positive psychology help clients reconnect with their strengths, purpose, and possibility  The importance of The Five Stages of Betrayal Recovery™ in moving from stuck to transformed    Key Takeaways  Reinvention isn't a detour — it's the path.  Every career "failure" in Sandy's life led her somewhere better. What looked like a dead end was actually a redirection toward greater meaning and purpose.  Your identity is not fixed.  Just as adolescence is a critical period for identity formation, so is midlife. You can try on new identities — athlete, entrepreneur, artist — at any stage of life.  Movement is non-negotiable — but it's personal.  Sandy didn't become athletic until her 70s. She now has more muscle than she did in her 40s. The key isn't a one-size-fits-all plan — it's finding what you enjoy and making it a habit.  Self-efficacy is everything.  The belief that your choices matter — in your health, your career, your healing — is the foundation of transformation. Betrayal often shatters that belief. A skilled coach helps rebuild it.  You can't imagine where you'll end up — and that's okay.  Just as no one could have imagined cell phones or AI, you cannot predict the fullness of what's ahead. The invitation is to start anyway.  The "okay" is the most dangerous place.  When things are fine but not fulfilling, many people stay stuck. The "okay" is what keeps people from reaching for more.  Quotable Moments  "Change is possible. You're never too old. It's never too late. And reinventing yourself is good." — Dr. Sandra Scheinbaum  "When you are changing, you are mobilizing those underutilized parts of you that are tied into having greater meaning and purpose." — Dr. Sandra Scheinbaum  "I train for my future self — so I can lift groceries, put things on the shelf, get down on the floor and get back up again." — Dr. Sandra Scheinbaum  "Nothing good comes from embarrassment or shame." — Dr. Albert Ellis (cited by Dr. Scheinbaum)  "The okay is the most soul-sucking thing." — Dr. Debi Silber    About Dr. Sandra Scheinbaum  Dr. Sandra Scheinbaum is a clinical psychologist, functional medicine practitioner, and the founder and CEO of the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy (FMCA). She launched FMCA at age 65 to train health coaches in the principles of functional medicine and positive psychology. FMCA is now a nationally recognized program receiving top accolades and attracting talented practitioners from around the world. Sandy is also a dancer, weightlifter, yogi, and living proof that reinvention has no expiration date.  Connect with Dr. Scheinbaum  Website: functionalmedicinecoaching.org  Instagram: @DrSandi    Connect with Dr. Debi Silber & The PBT Institute  Website: thepbtinstitute.com  Podcast: From Betrayal to Breakthrough  Book: UNSTUCK: The Practitioner's Guide to Moving Betrayal Clients from Survival to Transformation  Learn about Post Betrayal Syndrome® and The Five Stages of Betrayal Recovery™ at thepbtinstitute.com    If this episode resonated with you, please subscribe, leave a review, and share it with someone who needs a reminder that it's never too late to become who they're meant to be.

It's been over 25 years since the FDA approved a new ingredient for sunscreen in the United States. But a molecule called gadusol found in fish and coral reefs is a promising candidate. It absorbs U.V. rays — acting like a built-in sunscreen for fish. But there's a big hurdle if scientists want to turn gadusol into human sunscreen: They'd need to make a lot of it. A new study out this week in the journal Trends in Biotechnology takes us a big step closer. Their solution? Using the bacteria best known for making your stomach hurt: e. If you've ever stared at a blank screen wondering what to post on Instagram, this episode is for you. I promise, it's not what you think. This topic actually came from a recent coaching call where so many of my clients had the exact same question: What do I even post right now? And what I've realized is that when people think they have a content ideas problem, they actually have a decision-making problem. A confidence problem, at it's core.  So in this episode, I'm breaking down the real reasons you don't know what to post and what to actually do about it. Here's what we cover: Why you need to know your goal with every post. You know what to post, but you fear the outcome.  You have too many ideas and no priorities. You're consuming more than you're deciding.  What to do instead: Ask yourself: what is this post supposed to do? Attract, connect, or convert? Get clear on what you want to be known for and what conversations you want to own. Think about what feels honest and strategic right now. Break it down to the smallest version of the idea. Reverse engineer from your CTA and pull one teaching from it. Whether you're in a visibility season, a trust-building season, or a conversion season, the content you need looks different for each, and I walk you through all of it. Why Wasting Energy Is the Secret to Human Progress

What if wasting energy is the most productive thing humanity has ever done? In this episode of Capability Amplifier, Dan Sullivan and I explore the radical idea that conservation holds progress back - and that every breakthrough civilization has ever made came from consuming more energy, not less.Dan introduces the work of Mark Mills from the Manhattan Institute and his book "The Bottomless," which argues that using energy to create higher forms of energy is the engine of all human advancement. From the laser to nuclear power to Ai, the pattern is the same - massive energy input produces exponential capability output. We also get into how Ai is already running out of human-generated data to train on and is now producing its own synthetic training data. Mike draws a parallel to drug development, where Ai-powered simulations could eventually compress decades of human trials into hours. Dan connects all of it to his own life - at 81 years old, his biological age tests at 59, which he attributes entirely to regular and comprehensive medical testing over the last two decades. The conversation also touches on SpaceX's first-principles approach to building rockets, the real state of nuclear energy in 2025, the energy limitations of solar in places like Germany, and two separate moments in history where individual decisions by Soviet officers may have prevented nuclear war.At the close of the episode, Mike demos a new Ai-powered tool he's been using to compress hours of content into minutes each morning - and explains how anyone can use the same approach to accelerate their own learning. The core idea running through all of it: you can't build lasers by conserving candles. In this episode, Dan and I break down:Why conservation slows progress and strategic energy use is what drives human civilization forwardThe four high-density energy sources - coal, oil, gas, and nuclear - and why Dan says Ai is now a fifthHow SpaceX's willingness to burn a million gallons of fuel per launch compressed 50 years of NASA progress into threeDan's view that people don't die of disease - they die of late testing or no testingWhy Ai generating synthetic training data is a logical and necessary next step, not a gimmickThe "Available on Monday" filter Dan uses to evaluate any new technology or ideaWhy only 5% of the population being entrepreneurs is exactly the right numberHow Mike is consuming 20 to 30 hours of content per morning in 20 to 30 minutes using Ai toolsTIMESTAMPS00:00 – Introduction to creating a great yesterday01:11 – The power of simple tools03:09 – Dan's 63-day time experiment05:02 – Focus on today for a better yesterday06:22 – Creating consciousness in daily activities08:52 – Nostalgia vs. creative momentum10:15 – The impact of focusing on the present12:30 – How Dan's scattered thinking quietly disappeared14:00 – Why the point system works16:00 – Tracking conscious actions for momentum17:30 – How nostalgia limits progress19:10 – The role of Ai in amplifying creativity21:00 – Ai as a creative multiplier for entrepreneurs23:00 – The freedom of time and what it brings24:45 – Dan's final thoughts on his experiment and methodDiscover More

I'm literally recording this right before heading to my rebrand photo shoot, and I'm still in the thick of the in-between. Whether you're rebranding, shifting your offers, leaving a job, or just feeling that something needs to change but not quite knowing what that looks like yet, today's episode is your field guide. What we're getting into: What "identity vertigo" actually is  The grief that nobody warns you about when you're letting go of something that used to work Why staying busy feels like progress but often isn't Why the way you talk to yourself during reinvention actually matters more than you think The 3 questions I've been asking myself (and my clients): Who am I becoming and am I okay with that?  What am I actually afraid of, specifically?  What am I no longer willing to pretend?  The biggest things I want you to take away: You don't have to have it all figured out to take the next step. Action gives you the next clue. Most decisions feel permanent, but they're not. Treat the reversible ones like experiments. That person you admire who "reinvented overnight"? They spent years in the in-between. You just didn't see it. CONNECT: Connect with me on Instagram to see how I apply what I talk about on the episodes. What if building a better future starts by focusing on today, not tomorrow? In this episode of Capability Amplifier, Dan Sullivan and I discuss his time experiment that helped him eliminate future-based anxiety and unlock a profound sense of productivity and calm.Instead of stressing over the future, Dan committed to creating a "great yesterday" every day. This shift in focus reduced his mental scatter and distraction, something he personally attributes to ADHD tendencies, while helping him become more conscious and present, getting more done with less effort.Dan walks me through the mental shifts he experienced, how he tracks daily progress through a unique point system, and why staying in the moment is the key to both personal and professional growth. We also get into how Ai is amplifying Dan's creative process, and how this simple method can help anyone stuck in the anxiety of what's next. The core message is clear: create a great yesterday, and you'll unlock your best tomorrows. This goes beyond productivity - it's a way of being that eliminates distractions and allows for peak creativity and clarity. In this episode, Dan and I break down:Dan shifted his focus from future worries to present actions, creating calm, clarity, and momentum.Creating a great yesterday builds a foundation for today and tomorrow, replacing distraction with intention.Dan's point system tracks conscious actions throughout the day, turning small wins into compounding results.Nostalgia traps you in the past and blocks you from embracing what's possible right now.Ai accelerates creative action, helping us speed up decision-making and idea execution.By mastering time, Dan's method has given him freedom in time, money, and relationships.Note: The experiences shared in this episode reflect Dan Sullivan's personal observations from his own time experiment and daily practices. Okay, so last week I talked about marketing to your client's problems and how that requires a unique POV. But I kept coming back to the vulnerability piece because I feel like it deserves its own conversation. Here's the thing:"just be vulnerable" has never really worked for me. And I don't think it works for a lot of us, especially if you're a service provider whose story doesn't obviously connect to your niche. Especially if you're an immigrant or a Women of Color who has spent years showing the cleaned-up, polished version because you thought the messy parts were a disadvantage. That was me. For a long time, I was tapping into an alter ego to feel safe in entrepreneurship. It helped me cross 7 figures, But it wasn't the full picture. In this episode I'm sharing the actual framework I personally use and share with my private coaching clients. What We Get Into: The reason vulnerability feels cringe or performative (it's not you, it's the framework you're using). Circumstance / Identity — You've been where they are. Maybe not exactly, but close enough that they trust you get it more than anyone else would. Feeling — Even if they haven't lived your experience, they've felt what you felt. Loneliness, people-pleasing, boxing yourself in, not wanting to do the thing you were supposed to do. Aspiration — You want what they want. You know what it actually costs. Not the highlight reel version — the real cost. You don't have to share everything. You don't have to be vulnerable 24/7. And if you can't find the through line right now, don't force it. But most of the time, the block isn't that the through line doesn't exist, it's your thoughts about whether you're allowed to use it.   CONNECT: Connect with me on Instagram to see how I apply what I talk about on the episodes. How to Leverage AI for Career Growth: 5 Essential Insights Learn how to navigate AI in your career with insights from industry leader Monica Marquez. Discover practical tips for maximizing your potential in the evolving job market. In a world where AI is rapidly changing our work environments, many professionals find themselves grappling with how to adapt. This blog post will provide you with essential insights from Monica Marquez, a leader in workforce reinvention, on how to effectively leverage AI for career advancement. You'll learn about the evolving landscape and how to position yourself for success in this new era. About Monica Marquez Monica Marquez is the co-founder and workforce reinvention leader at Flipwork. With an impressive background that includes roles at Goldman Sachs and Texas Tech University, she is committed to helping individuals maximize their potential in the ever-evolving workplace. Her work focuses on demystifying AI and empowering professionals to embrace technology as a tool for growth. Understanding the Current AI Landscape AI is no longer just a buzzword; it's a reality that is reshaping industries and job roles. In a conversation with Rod Berger, Monica emphasized that while the advent of AI has created fear and uncertainty, it also presents unprecedented opportunities. The Fear of AI: Many people fear that AI will replace their jobs or diminish their value in the workplace. This apprehension is understandable given the rapid pace of AI technology's evolution. AI as a Tool: Instead of viewing AI as a threat, it's essential to see it as a powerful tool that can enhance human capabilities. Monica notes that AI is akin to other tools we've used throughout history, but it's evolving at an unprecedented pace. How to Embrace AI in Your Career To leverage AI effectively, it's crucial to shift your mindset and approach. Here are five actionable strategies: 1. Cultivate Curiosity: Stay informed about AI trends and developments. Monica suggests that curiosity is key; by continually seeking knowledge, you can better understand how to apply AI in your work. Common Mistake: Many professionals avoid AI out of fear or misunderstanding. Embrace a learning mindset instead. 2. Reinvent Your Playbook: The traditional success playbook has changed. Post-AI, focus on how to use AI to augment your strengths rather than viewing it as a replacement for your skills. 3. Access Information: AI democratizes access to information. Utilize AI tools to gain insights and knowledge that were previously only available to a select few. This is particularly beneficial for underrepresented groups in tech. Cultural Insight: Many people still believe that AI is only for tech-savvy individuals, but this is a myth. Anyone can learn to use AI tools with the right guidance. 4. Focus on Impact: Shift your focus from effort to impact. The goal should be to create more value in your work, not just to put in more hours. Mindset Shift:  Understand that using AI to produce faster results can lead to greater overall impact, which is now the new measure of success. 5. Educate Others: As you learn to leverage AI, share your knowledge with colleagues and peers. This not only reinforces your own understanding but also helps build a more AI-literate workforce. Community Building: Create or join groups that focus on AI education and collaboration, fostering an environment of shared learning. Key Takeaways - AI is not a threat but a tool that can enhance your career. - Curiosity and continuous learning are essential. - Reinvent your approach to success by focusing on impact rather than effort. - Educate yourself and others about AI to foster a collaborative learning environment. Navigating the world of AI can be daunting, but with the right mindset and strategies, you can not only survive but thrive in this new landscape. Embrace the changes, leverage AI to your advantage, and focus on the impact you can create in your career.

Have you ever wanted to reinvent yourself? Don't become someone new — just get back to who you already are under all the noise. My clients are doing it right now—Dave's podcast is taking off, Kroy's running 142 miles across Death Valley, and Niaz keeps publishing in the LA Times. Seeing their progress got me a little jealous, maybe even pissed off in the best possible way. I've spent my life helping people skip the slow grind and get what they actually want. Today, I share why most people wait 20 years to make the shift. Press play and let's go. Featured Story Just after seeing my clients challenge themselves, I got off a Face Your Passion Inner Circle call where I spent 90 minutes asking one question: What if you changed everything today? Not one habit. Not your morning routine. Everything. Their reactions stopped me cold. My client Dave, who runs a podcast called Outside the Walls, listened. Halfway through the call, Chris went quiet for a second, then shared something I can't shake: 'Scott, I am living inside the walls.' That hit me, and it made me realize most of us are living inside walls we built and forgot about. At that moment, I knew exactly what to do next. Important Points Reinvention means rediscovering your authentic self by removing the things that hide it. Friction is real, but it isn't the problem to solve. Most of us battle friction for decades and never get what we want. You can change in a second. The only question is whether you're the one calling the change or waiting for life to do it. Memorable Quotes Deciding gets you there. The rest is just logistics. That's the part the personal growth industry will never tell you. Reinvention is about reclaiming your true self beneath friction and obligations. Most people spend 20 years wearing themselves out really slowly. Operation Reinvention is the shortcut past that grind. Scott's Three-Step Approach Get clear on the one thing you actually want — not the version that fits your current life, the real one underneath. Then change everything around that one thing instead of trying to tweak your way there, one little habit at a time. Finally, get the right support and run hard so the friction becomes automatic and stops calling the shots in your life. Chapters 0:02 - Why my clients are making me a little jealous 1:45 - Dave, Kroy, and Niaz are quietly changing everything 4:10 - The one question that stopped my Inner Circle cold 6:30 - Why personal growth keeps you stuck on purpose 8:45 - Reinvention is going back, not becoming new 10:30 - Are you living inside walls you built yourself 12:15 - Operation Reinvention is opening up this summer Connect With Me Search for the Daily Boost on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify If you enjoy the Daily Boost, sign up for Notes From Scott at https://notesfromscott.com.
