Stevens Roundtable Kenneth Resta, the Senior Director of Safety at Stevens Transport, joins “Trucker Tim” on the Stevens Roundtable to discuss the recent upgrade to Drivewyze, which primarily focused on scale house or inspection lane bypass. However, with the addition of Safety Plus, drivers now have access to a range of new features. These include in-cab alerts, custom geofencing, high-risk corridor alerts, real-time traffic alerts, and a weather alerting system. Ken also mentions the future implementation of e-inspection, which will allow for the pre-filling of driver and vehicle information, reducing inspection time at roadside even further. https://www.linkedin.com/in/kenneth-resta-cds-b462b353/ Drivewyze Safty+ Overview: https://cdn.brandfolder.io/6DSLP7MC/as/3q7kxh3cmp6sqh478ph68f/Drivewyze_Safety_Announcement_and_Overview.mp4?_=2 Driver Spotlight: Vincent Payne Vincent Payne is a contract driver for Stevens Transport and has just reached 1 million miles! Deborah LaPorte spent most of her adult life in Las Cruces, NM where she taught literature and writing at New Mexico State University. She has also produced plays and published short fiction. Upon retirement, she moved back to Louisville to be near family. She volunteers with the Earth and Spirit Center as a Mindfulness Mentor, sharing meditation and mindfulness teachings in under-resourced communities. In 2020, after the police killing of Breonna Taylor, she joined Di Kerrigan in co-founding listenlearnact.org, whose mission is to listen to Black leaders, learn all we can about racism, and act to reverse it. As part of that mission, she helps coordinate the racial justice program at the Earth and Spirit Center and regularly co-facilitates their Listen Learn Act classes with Di Kerrigan and Reverend Joe Phelps. Di Kerrigan is a Louisville native but has lived and worked throughout the US, first as a nurse then as a partner in a medical software development company. She returned to Louisville upon retirement. Di teaches mindfulness meditation with the Mindfulness Mentors through the Earth and Spirit Center; she also volunteers with Kentucky Refugee Ministries and the Volunteers of America Restorative Justice program. In 2020, she co-founded listenlearnact.org (LLA) with Debbi LaPorte in the wake of Breonna Taylor's death. LLA's mission is to raise awareness of everyday racism and explore the history of how it has been a destructive fabric woven into our society. Di also co-facilitates, with Debbi LaPorte and Rev. Joe Phelps, Listen Learn Act anti-racism classes at the Earth and Spirit Center on a regular basis.

In Episode 87 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with Bruce Neyers, Owner and Vintner for Neyers Vineyards out of the Pritchard Hill of Napa Valley, CA. This is a 2 part podcast that will be aired over the next 2 weeks with the first half of my conversation with Bruce releasing today, and the second half releasing on February 18th. This interview was amazing and it helps when the person you're interviewing is one of the most respected and iconic figures the wine industry has had the privilege of knowing, over nearly 50 years now! In this episode Bruce shares the story of his life growing up, his brief career in the military and how that experience led him to Northern California to eventually work in the Napa Valley wine industry. Bruce also shares his experiences at Mayacamas Vineyards and Joseph Phelps Winery and how Joe Phelps made such an impression on him, but also the impression Bruce left on Joe as well. These are just a couple of the things you're going to love about this episode as Bruce delivers in so many ways and provides an insurmountable amount of value in the process. Be sure to check back in next week for the second half of my conversation with Bruce, which you are not going to want to miss. So sit back, relax, and get ready because you are going to love this episode! Kell Phelps has been in the barbecue world since his teenage years where he cut his barbecue teeth on the competition circuit. In 1990 his father, and NBBQA founding member, Joe Phelps started a printed newsletter called the National Barbecue News. In 2002 Kell bought the magazine from his dad and made barbecue his daily job. Kell and his father are both proud past-presidents of the NBBQA. Kell currently serves on the NBBQA board of directors and also works with both the sponsorship and partnership committees.
Joe Phelps, a longtime Baptist pastor and co-chair of EmpowerWest in Louisville, Ky., talks with Word&Way Editor & President Brian Kaylor about how he came to understand his white privilege. He also discusses the work of EmpowerWest on urging Southern Baptist Theological Seminary to pay reparations for slavery. This interview occurred after Phelps spoke at the "Angela Project" gathering in Birmingham, Ala., to recognize the upcoming 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first enslaved Africans to what is now the United States. (This episode is sponsored in part by the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.)
This week’s episode is an update from one of our previous guests, Joe Phelps. He was originally on the show in May of 2017, when he spoke about the unexpected loss of his son, his work as pastor of Highland Baptist Church, and that one time he got to hang out with Bruce Springsteen. It’s still one of my very favorite episodes we’ve ever done. Last fall, I reached out to him for a follow-up conversation, because I had heard he had retired from Highland Baptist, and I was curious about what he was doing.
Joseph Phelps Vineyards is a family-owned winery committed to crafting world class, estate-grown wines. Founded in 1973 when Joe Phelps purchased a former cattle ranch near St. Helena in the Napa Valley, the winery now controls and farms nearly 375 acres of vines on eight estate vineyards in Napa Valley. In 1999, the Phelps family added 100 acres of vineyard property near the town of Freestone on the Sonoma Coast, where Phelps grows Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Phelps is best known for its flagship Napa Valley blend of red Bordeaux varieties, Insignia, first produced in 1974.
This week, we're sharing a rebroadcast of one of our most popular episodes: a conversation with Joe Phelps, pastor at Highland Baptist Church in Louisville. He's recently announced his retirement after 20 years of service. After nearly 50 episodes of Five Things, I can honestly say that this is one of the conversations that has most stuck with me.
My guest this week on Five Things is Joe Phelps, the pastor at Highland Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. His church is known for being a progressive place, and we talked about the forces that have led him to the viewpoints he has now. He's experienced great loss along with great success, and he sees it all as a continuum.
