Welcome back to Lez Hang Out, the podcast where “two can keep a secret if one of them is dead”. This week, Leigh (@lshfoster) and Ellie (@elliebrigida) hang out with return guest and founder of TGI Femslash, John Arrow (@jarrow272), to talk about the 7 season teen mystery drama, Pretty Little Liars, for this Lez-ssentials episode, a recurring segment on the essential movies and TV shows in the lesbian canon. Come with us on a journey back to 2010, when television seasons were 26 episodes long and showrunners were just starting to figure out how to harness the power of social media to engage with fandoms in a big way. Pretty Little Liars itself does not age all that well in many ways, especially in the treatment of their one and only trans character; but back in the 2010s it was actually considered pretty progressive for having several queer characters and a lesbian showrunner. If you were queer or questioning in the early aughts you 1000% knew about Shay Mitchell as sporty lesbian Emily Fields who seemingly turned every woman within a 5 mile radius of her gay. If you are a lesbian of a certain age, Emily likely played a role in your own coming out journey too. For those of you who were part of the #BooRadleyVanCullen (like Leigh), you may recall more of the social fandom experience than you do the plot. Before Twitter became the cesspool it is today, there were the golden days of weekly live tweeted episodes of PLL with the cast members, the showrunner and the writers. The extremely unhinged plot made it the perfect group-viewing show and we highly recommend that if you have never watched PLL, you watch with a friend or three. While we do talk about a lot of the major plot points, the whole series is just too convoluted for us to really spoil anything for you. Even hardcore fans like John find something new in each rewatch. At the end of the episode, stick around to hear our original song based on PLL, titled “A Liar”, written by Leigh Holmes Foster and produced by Ellie Brigida. Join us on Patreon at bit.ly/lezpatreon for instant access to mp3 downloads of all our original songs or find us on Bandcamp to purchase songs individually. Chinese-Americans in San Francisco are pushing back against the left. Should men intervene to help female strangers from danger? Attractive women inspire different behaviors ft @RareCamellia - Liberty based AI emerges ft John Arrow
Today, I am joined by John Arrow. This guy is fascinated by emerging technologies and how technology can be used to make the world better. It's a pretty ambitious goal, but not impossible. Since then, he has launched and scaled numerous companies in the emerging technology sector.“If you start to take away people's access to AI, that is a weapon that can be used against them. And that's where the real dangers, I think, of AI come in is when one group gets access and another doesn't.” - John ArrowIn This Episode:- How does John's AI platform work?- Will our opinions still matter? When does AI become scary?- How did John develop his AI model?- The real danger in utilizing and talking about AI and why there's censorship around AI- The use of AI in predicting human behavior and how to leverage it in your business - Can you create your own GPT?- What can we expect in the next five years? “People think that when you start a company that it is this immensely risky thing but the upside is so disproportionately higher if you just looked at it from an expected value standpoint. Worst case scenario your company fails and you go to work for a McKinsey or something similar.” — John Arrow Today, Chad is joined by John Arrow, CEO of Mutual Mobile, an agency that designs and develops breakthrough digital applications for the Fortune 1000. As a freshman at the University of Texas, John joined the aviation community and discovered his passion for flying. It was also within this program that he met four friends who would become the co-founders of Mutual Mobile. “One of my passions is flying airplanes where you're forced to multitask. There's no other way to do it. Even if you have the autopilot on, you have to be scanning the instruments or talking to the radio or planning what's ahead. I think you can do things better when you can spread out your attention because it avoids that burnout.” Starting Mutual Mobile has completely changed his life. John has emerged as one of the most promising young CEOs in the past decade, being named to Forbes list of Top 30 CEOs Under 30. Mutual Mobile was named by Forbes as one of America's most promising companies in 2011 and has since produced award-winning apps for Google, Audi, Cisco, and many more. On this episode, John discusses how to create a work environment primed for innovation and creativity, how to succeed within the app-building world, and his goals for the future of Mutual Mobile. — Mission Daily and all of our podcasts are created with love by our team at Mission.org.
