Welcome to The Antlered Crown podcast. Where we talk all things witchy but mostly go off on a ramble. This podcast episode is about the love and light-toxic positive crowd, Keanu Reeves/Sandra Bullock in Speed, Amanda sounding like Marge Simpson, and how much we love connecting with you! We love you all the world and six pence.
In 2001 Jim Collins published his classic book, Good to Great. Chapter three in that book is called "First Who...Then What." That chapter included what may be the most famous metaphor in all of leadership: The Bus. "The good-to-great leaders began the transformation by first getting the right people on the bus (and the wrong people off the bus) and then figured out where to drive it." For over twenty years, leaders worldwide have been using this metaphor. "Who do we need to get on The Bus?" "Who needs to get off The Bus?" In this episode, we ask, "is The Bus still a thing?" Is this metaphor outdated, or is it still helpful? Dust off that old DVD of the Keanu Reeves / Sandra Bullock classic Speed and enjoy our conversation about The Bus.
At the tail end of 2021 Movies In Focus watched and reviewed Sonny Mallhi's excellent horror, Hurt. On The surface it appeared that Hurt was just another film in the slasher genre - but it turned out to be much more than that, Yes, it was a horror film but it had rich characterisation and dealt with a lot of interesting themes such as fear, death, violence, loss, love, family, isolation and yes, hurt. Sonny got in touch, thanking me for my review and I invited him onto the Movies In Focus podcast to talk about the film and his career. He started off producing films such as the Keanu Reeves/Sandra Bullock romance The Lake House before moving on to darker material such as The Strangers, House At The End Of The Street, Spike Lee's remake of Oldboy and the brilliant The Dark And The Wicked. Mallhi is also a writer, having penned five films - including the aforementioned Hurt - a film which he also directed. Passionate about film, my conversation with Sonny Mallhi covered a vast array of fascinating topics in this hour-long episode.

Sportsnet's Justin Bourne joins the podcast to shed some light on a few Penguins players who have previous ties to the Maple Leafs, and how he thinks those players will perform in the black-and-gold. There’s plenty more good stuff in the podcast to listen to as well, including: As a right-hand shot and being a player with some skills, does Kapanen have anything to offer or a fit on the first power play group? A look into how Jake Guentzel and Sidney Crosby should benefit from playing with Kapanen, and how Kapanen will buy Guentzel and Crosby a bit of extra space (hint: shares a name with a certain 1990’s Keanu Reeves/Sandra Bullock movie) And finally....after watching him closely last season with the Maple Leafs, it possible Cody Ceci actually is better than his reputation and baggage would suggest? Garrett and Jim also bring us up to speed on the NHL scheduling and the new off-sides rule that would have had big ramifications on a 2016 playoff game against Tampa. And we also discuss what the new division-only game schedule means and just how tough the new division might be with Boston joining the fray. Learn more about your ad choices. We've talked about hope in Star Wars - aka "A New Hope," but we haven't talked about one of the other strong themes of the movie: family. Since it's episode 1977 (the year A New Hope came out!), I thought we'd talk about the very unusual family dynamic of Star Wars - and what it has in common with the Keanu Reeves/Sandra Bullock movie Speed. Punch it! ***I'm listener supported! Join the community at http://Patreon.com/sw7x7 to get access to bonus episodes and other insider rewards.***
