And Ed Hinds who runs the FCPS SHIP Program Student Homelessness Initiative Partnership (SHIP) of Frederick County is a non-profit charity that provides services and support to the hundreds of FCPS students experiencing homelessness each year. Working with partner agencies and FCPS, SHIP provides new clothing, food, funding for enrichment and extracurricular activities, and when no other options exist, emergency shelter. Beginning in School Year 2017-18, SHIP operates the New Horizons counseling service made available to homeless high schools students that helps them realize the goal of graduation.
