Phil is joined by change management and not-for-profit leader Laura Oliver to discuss how to respond to adjustments during change. Change initiatives typically involve continual revisions. New information emerges, stakeholder needs shift, and requirements change. Many people dive into accommodating the changes without assessing whether they help or hinder the projects and their success. Conversely, reacting quickly and taking action can be more important than extensively assessing options and determining the best response. So, how do you respond to plan adjustments that accommodate necessary changes and keep resources focused on delivering your defined outcomes? After a series of delivery hiccups and reports of some frontliners not showing up for their jabs, Europe - and other regions - tensely awaited the European Medicines Agency's assessment on the safety of the AstraZeneca vaccine. Its rollout was shrouded in rumours from the start. How can journalists navigate the landscape of statistics and personal testimonies? How can we best answer readers' questions? And how can everyone be better prepared for conversations about vaccines in their community? To find out The Inoculation talked to freelance journalist Laura Oliver. Laura is the author of A Freelancer's Guide for Reporting on Vaccines, published by the European Journalism Centre. She previously worked as a community coordinator at The Guardian, where one of her duties was sourcing eyewitness accounts from the ‘Arab Spring'. Later she worked on the GuardianWitness platform, before starting off as a freelancer and co-founding the Society of Freelance Journalists. All Things Relax with Sandi D.

Show NotesThis weekend Sandi D. took a writers workshop through the Writer’s Center based in Bethesda, Maryland, her old stomping ground, led by Laura Oliver, an author, developmental book editor and writing mentor. Laura says it is easier for writers to come up with a unique voice than to come up with a unique subject. Writers usually use their natural voice when addressing someone they trust. She gave the following writing prompt during the ‘Your True Voice’ workshop:“Begin writing a letter to someone you trust completely (dead or alive) confessing to something you long for.” It can be about anything, fame, having better hair, a different childhood. One of the best insights Laura shared is the simplest. Writers tend to write in a natural, true voice when writing about the things they are passionate about. This is something blogging and business coach Faith Mariah says all the time in her mastermind group. If you are interested in taking a writing workshop from the comfort of your home, the Writer’s Center in Bethesda, Maryland has writers workshops available in the virtual space.May include affiliate links: Laura Oliver, The Story Within: New Insights and Inspiration for WritersWriter’s Center Faith Mariah’s Blogging Breakthroughs MastermindAll Things RelaxBlog - Join our list to receive your copy of Find Your Inner Zen journal!
