Can’t get enough Bryant Bulldogs breaking barriers and re-inventing entire industries? Nick Cianfaglione joins us this week to discuss his founding of Artist Republik, a platform for independent artists & musicians. We discuss his method of tearing down barriers for creators to monetize and market their products, and the ordeal that artists usually encounter with their “managers.” How can an independent musician monetize their work without coughing up a large chunk of their earnings to their managers’ pockets? What’s the best way to distribute songs on a low budget? Nick gives us answers that every artist should be dying to know. We also discuss how he built a duct-tape wallet empire in his middle school days, and his desperate plea to the creators of Fortnite. BEERS: Tree. ******. House. We brought back a haul from the “Brewery on the Hill” in Charlton this past weekend, and it certainly did not disappoint. Jake reviews “Juice Project” with Citra and Mosaic hops; his rating will leave your jaw on the floor. Meanwhile, in his quest to break 1,000 beers before 2021, Will reviews the Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Peppermint Porter by Lexington Brewing Company. He’s got 37 left to go in just 14 days – can he do it? BUSINESS: As we mentioned last week, AirBnB was one of the most highly anticipated IPO’s of our time. We expected the stock to rise after officially being listed on the markets last week, but how did they pull off more than a 100% increase in less than 2 days? The guys evaluate if AirBnB could be one of the stocks you wished you bought 5 years from now. BALLS: Both the Giants and the Patriots suffered tough losses against powerhouse opponents this week, and – although we don’t want to – we break down what went wrong for the increasingly-less-likely playoff hopefuls. Contenders and Pretenders reprises itself for another week – who is legit, and who is just here for the ride? Our choices might surprise you. POSITIVITY CORNER: If you are in the giving spirit, please consider writing a letter to the family of Keyontae Johnson, who remains in critical condition after collapsing on the court on Saturday. RUN Aimee had to work, so Dana went to a favorite race of ours here locally, The Fast and the Furriest 5K at Hammond Stadium. It benefits The Gulf Coast Humane Society.  That race has it all.  It is a flat course and the race is held early in the morning before the humidity that is slowly ramping up for the summer gets too bad.  The real plus?  Dogs!  On the course, you get to run with so many adorable dogs. there are kiddie pools that double as water stops for the puppies.  And he saw a favorite puppy that we featured on a quick bite last year, Tegan the Tripawd! It’s a great way to get in a training run, get a cute medal, be around some great pups and support a cause at the same time! EAT It was National Caramel Popcorn Day this weekend, so Dana headed to Wild About Popcorn on Saturday after the race to pick us up a couple of bags to celebrate.  He brought home Dill Pickle - what an unexpected and incredible flavor.  It was tangy and tasted legitimately like a dill pickle.  The Salted Caramel Popcorn was so sweet and had amazing crunch from tasty caramel coating and just the right hint of salty goodness. Wild About Popcorn has great flavors and they do shipping as well as being a popular spot for locals.  Thanks for helping us celebrate! It was National Empanada Day on Monday! So we headed to one of our favorite Cuban Bakeries, Azucar, here in Cape Coral.  We had their beef, chicken, and ham and cheese empanadas.  They do it right.  The crust is tender and flaky and the filling is warm and spiced just right.  The sauces are tangy and compliment the empanadas perfectly.  The beef empanada was served with a garlic and lime sauce while the other two were accompanied by a smoky mustard sauce.  This place is full of flavorful options, so if you are local and live in the Cape Coral area or dropping in for a visit, check it out!  DRINK It was also National Beer Day on Sunday.  You know how we love beer!  We were still dreaming of the awesome beer we had in Lexington last weekend, so we headed to a couple of local spots to get some Lexington Brewing Company offerings.  Keg and Cow, a local bar has quite an extensive number of taps.  I think we counted 49!  There we got to celebrate with Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale.  Then we moved on to 10 Twenty Five.  They are also a local bar named after their address with some great offerings on tap.  There we found the Kentucky Blackberry Porter that we got to try last week on the tour of the brewery.  It was amazing, just like we remembered!  Not overly sweet but true blackberry flavor.  It was a great way to celebrate National Beer Day! THAT’S A WRAP Thank you for listening! We are having a great second year of the podcast because of all your support! Welcome to our second official audio episode of the Run Eat Drink Podcast! RUN This week, we are still at home training for our next big race!  We are excited to get to Run the Bluegrass at the end of this month in Lexington, Kentucky.  Jeff Galloway assigned us cadence drills, acceleration gliders, and quarter miles to hit in a certain target time this week. We also saw some posts on social media this week about DNFs (Did Not Finish) at races.  Most of the time, having been one who has had a DNF, it is really hard to talk about or even admit to friends and family.  I consider it brave to talk about it, it is also courageous to take yourself out of the race to avoid further injury, and I feel like it is a great motivator for getting healthy and training for a comeback, having had a great comeback in 2018 at the Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend. EAT Nevermind Awesome Bar and Eatery is a place we talked about last week. Shannon Yates, owner and chef, put together a fundraiser for Morgan Wright, or Morgan the Moose, our local celebrity from American Ninja Warrior, as he headed to Atlanta to compete in and film his episodes for ANW Season 11!  I know we talked about running into Morgan last week, but this week, we were able to get to his fundraiser at Nevermind Awesome Bar and Eatery and do a live interview with him.  That meant we got to have awesome fried chicken and fish and chips that Shannon made for his fundraiser.  So tasty! DRINK Nevermind Awesome Bar and Eatery also offered us the chance to get Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale by Lexington Brewing Company in order to get ready for our trip.  It was a wonderful beer full of caramel and vanilla notes, but not too sweet, so it could stand up to the delicious food.  Apparently, Lexington Brewing Company will be 10-15 minutes away from where we are staying for the race this weekend.  I hope we get to tour the brewery!  Rumor has it they also have a distillery. Many of the microdistillers producing whisky got their inspiration from the craft brewing boom of the last 15 years, and more craft brewers are being inspired to use whisky barrels to age their beers. Greg Hall of Chicago's Goose Island Beer Company has been making bourbon barrel-aged stout for years, while newcomers like James Watt of Scotland's Brewdog Brewery and Christopher Bird of the Lexington Brewing Company are producing their own variations on the concept. In the news, GlenDronach outlines its plans for 2009 under Billy Walker's leadership and Kilchoman starts teasing us with plans to release its first single malt.
