Fáilte ar ais chuig eagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo ar an 16ú lá de mí Iúil, liomsa Lauren Ní Loingsigh. I 1993 baineadh geit as na daoine a raibh ag obair d'aerlíne mar go raibh ísliú pá de 34 milliúin punt. I 1999 d'éalaigh dhá ghardaí ón clúb eitilt de bharr go raibh tuirlingt de thuairt an oíche roimhe agus thit an t-eitleán ar a ceann. I 1998 dhún 25 leaba mháinliachta ag Ospidéal Our Lady's I gCaiseal do ceithre sheachtain agus do dhá seachtain I mí na Nollaig agus cheap siad go mbeidís chun 75 míle punt a shábháil. Dhún siad de bharr go raibh siad ag caitheamh an iomarca airgead i ndeisceart an tír. I 2009 bhí grúpa cónaitheoirí ag seasamh ag an áirse a raibh damáiste déata dó I dTeampall Mór agus bhí leamhsháinn leis na húdaráis. Bhí na daoine a raibh ina chónaí ann ag rá go raibh siad ag iarradh an áirse a coimeád de bharr go raibh sé struchtúr cosanta. Sin Ricky Martin le Livin' La Vida Loca – an t-amhrán is mó ar an lá seo I 1999 Ag lean ar aghaidh le nuacht cheoil ar an lá seo I 1969 agus iad ag taifead a albam Abbey Road, bhí The Beatles ag obair ar dhá amhráin George Harrison, Here Comes The Sun agus Something. Tháinig inspioráid chuig George Harrison chun scríobh Here Comes The Sun nuair a thóg sé lá as ag obair agus chaith sé an lá ag siúil timpeall gairdín ag tí Eric Clapton. I 2000 chuaigh Coldplay chuig uimhir a haon sa Bhreatain lena chéad albam darbh ainm Parachutes. Bhí amhráin ar an albam cosúil le Shiver, Yellow, Trouble agus Don't Panic agus bhuaigh siad Grammy don albam sin I 2002. Agus ar deireadh breithlá daoine cáiliúla ar an lá seo rugadh Michael Flatley I Meiriceá I 1958 agus rugadh aisteoir Will Ferrell I Meiriceá ar an lá seo I 1967 agus seo chuid de na rudaí a rinne sé. Beidh mé ar ais libh amárach le heagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo. Welcome back to another edition of Ar An Lá Seo on the 16th of July, with me Lauren Ní Loingsigh 1993: There was shock as air staff faced £34 million pay cuts. 1999: two members of the garda flying club had a miraculous escape last night after their aircraft crash landed and over turned. 1998 - TWENTY-FIVE surgical beds at Our Lady's Hospital, Cashel, closed for four weeks with a further two weeks in December at an estimated saving of £75,000. The closures are in a bid to stem the growing tide of over expenditure in the South Eastern Health Board region.  2009 - A group of residents were standing at the damaged arch in Templemore, which caused a stand-off with authorities. Residents argued that they did not want the arch removed as it was a 'protected structure.  That was Ricky Martin with Livin' La Vida Loca – the biggest song on this day in 1999 Onto music news on this day In 1969 During recordings for their Abbey Road album, The Beatles worked on two new George Harrison songs, 'Here Comes The Sun' and 'Something.' Harrison was inspired to write 'Here Comes The Sun' when taking a day off from Apple business and spending the day walking around the garden at Eric Clapton's house. 2000 Coldplay went to No.1 on the UK album chart with their debut release Parachutes. The release spawned the hit singles 'Shiver', 'Yellow', 'Trouble', and 'Don't Panic' and won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album in 2002. And finally celebrity birthdays on this day – dancer Michael Flatley was born in America in 1958 and actor Will Ferrell was born in America on this day in 1967 and this is some of the stuff has done. I'll be back with you tomorrow with another edition of Ar An Lá Seo.

On today's Keepin It Real, Cam wishes us a happy Independence Day and reminds us that on July 4th, 1776, nearly thirty percent of the population didn't want it. ----- Happy Fourth of July. Our nation's independence. It's a big deal. I don't think we feel it today like generations did in the past. The significance of it is likely lost on many of us. Those that fought in wars have a different type of appreciation for the Fourth of July but there are so many fewer of them today than there were. In 1980, about twenty percent of our population had served in the military. Today that number is closer to six percent. And less than three percent of our adult population has ever seen combat, this all from ChatGPT, by the way. So the veterans that have a special connection to July Fourth are such a small, small group. To most of us, today is a day where we sleep in a bit, get outside a bit, and hope to end the night with all ten fingers intact after shooting fireworks. We'll certainly see those stories on social media tomorrow– please don't let it be you. And in our remarkably divided country, both sides will make passionate speeches about liberty and freedom. Both sides will make claims that they're defending the country evil, which is the other party. Both sides will get cheers for their stances and jeer at the other party for theirs. Both sides convinced the other side is the root of nearly every problem from dud firecrackers to eczema to their bike's flat tire. “What do I do about this?”, I asked a friend last week. “What is my responsibility to this turmoil? To this hate?” She lives and works in New York City and had her non-profit's funding eliminated. Her answer was simple. Go talk to people, she said. Simply try to be a nice person. Try to understand. Maybe we will see the humanity in the other person and, we hope, they'll see it in us. Another I spoke to this week said he believes in pendulum swings and right now the pendulum has swung far in one direction. And just like a pendulum, the momentum can only last so long before it stops and reverses course. We celebrate July 4th for the bold decisions that led to the world we live in today. But in 1776 as much as thirty percent of the population opposed independence. And as much as forty percent didn't care one way or the other. Again, all of this courtesy of my new best friend ChatGPT. So, in 1776, a minority of our nation, about forty five percent, made cataclysmic decisions that we live with today. There must have been very heated discussions. Massive assumptions about those they disagreed with. However, to be able to discuss the direction our country is going in, to have a role in it, however small, I think we can agree, is a privilege. So today, for me, I'm going to focus on my good fortune to live in a place where I have some small input into our nation's direction. Though I feel like honesty, civility, and character are out of fashion right now, I believe the pendulum will eventually swing back. And, perhaps, I can speed up it's return by having some sincere conversations with people I disagree with. Consider joining me, please. Let's do this together. I'm Cam Marston and I'm just tyring to Keep it Real.

The world of mass timber construction is reaching extraordinary new heights—literally! This week we explore groundbreaking developments that showcase how engineered wood is revolutionizing modern architecture and sustainable building practices worldwide. At the forefront is Milwaukee's ambitious Neutral Edison project, set to become the Western Hemisphere's tallest mass timber structure upon completion in 2027. This 38-story marvel will feature 353 high-end apartments and numerous eco-friendly innovations, eclipsing the current record-holder just 1.5 miles away. Meanwhile, Portland's manufacturing landscape is evolving as ZUG Timber Solutions secures a long-term lease to operate a mass timber modular factory, transforming a former marine terminal into a hub for sustainable construction innovation and job creation.Across the Pacific, Perth prepares for one of the world's tallest hybrid timber towers with Rothy Lohman's stunning design for 351 build-to-rent apartments. The project's pioneering hybrid construction system combines cross-laminated timber with concrete cores, promising reduced environmental impact while delivering spaces filled with natural warmth. In Canada, milestone moments include the arrival of mass timber materials for Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital and the Ontario government's release of an ambitious Advanced Wood Construction Action Plan that prioritizes local timber use for faster, better homebuilding. We've gathered visual documentation of these exciting developments on our LinkedIn feed, including in-construction photos of Sydney's innovative Atlassian building with its six discrete habitat levels. Whether you're a design professional, developer, or simply fascinated by sustainable construction, these projects demonstrate how rapidly mass timber is transforming our built environment. This week we are studying Doctrine and Covenants sections 64-66. We'll discuss how the Savior yearns to forgive us no matter the sin. We'll talk about how this is extra amazing considering the great price He paid to achieve that power. We will also talk about the commandment He has given for us to forgive each other. We'll review how forgiving others can lead to greater peace and mental health, while refusing forgiveness can have the opposite effect. We'll also talk about how small changes, sustained over time, can have great effects. There are free worksheets available for the invitations made in the weekly podcasts. We present our The West Wing (Season 4) review! The fourth season of the American political drama television series The West Wing aired in the United States on NBC from September 25, 2002 to May 14, 2003 and consisted of 23 episodes. The fourth season covers the end of Bartlet's fourth year of his first term in office through the beginning of the first year of his second term. The season begins with the continuation of the election storyline with the president touring the nation and his staff trying to firm up presidential debates. The storyline ends in a clear victory for Bartlet less than halfway through the season in "Election Night". Other plots include Sam leaving the White House to run in a special election in California, the news of the Abdul Shareef assassination resonating both inside and outside the U.S., Will Bailey taking Sam's position after coming over from the California campaign's staff, the President and his staff facing the reality of an overseas genocide, and Vice President Hoynes being forced to resign after a sex scandal is uncovered. The fourth season ends with Bartlet's youngest daughter being taken hostage. Bartlet ends up invoking the 25th Amendment in the final episode, "Twenty Five." Since no one had been nominated to replace Hoynes, the presidency passes to the iron-willed conservative Republican Speaker of the House, Glen Allen Walken.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

Episode Synopsis:My first exposure to tongue-speaking did not go well.  In an “afterglow” service which followed a mid-week Bible study at an Orange County megachurch, a large number of the faithful remained after the study to “experience” the gifts of the Spirit, including the “gift of tongues.”  A young pastor took over from the Bible teacher and explained how to begin speaking in tongues.  He read several passages from Acts 2 and from 1 Corinthians 12-14 and told us that these verses were proof that the gift is “biblical,” “for today,” and enabled you to by-pass the clutter of the mind to commune with God “in the Spirit.”  He then told us, if you'd like to speak in tongues here's what you do.  You start by saying “kitty, kitty, kitty,” until the Spirit took over and gave you your prayer language.  The room was suddenly filled with people speaking gibberish, swaying, acting as though under the influence, crying, and making contorted faces as they spoke.  I wasn't having it, and quietly slipped out. Years later, after my biblical knowledge increased, I realized that the “afterglow” I witnessed that night was very much like what Paul was instructing the Corinthians not to do in the last half of 1 Corinthians 14.  There was no interpretation of any of these tongues, though several attendees did offer exhortations of their own utterances, but which very much sounded like Christianese made up on the fly.  Everyone spoke at once, and the whole room was filled with tongue-speakers, not merely two or three in order.  I was a Christian and still thought these people were crazy.  I can only imagine what an unbeliever would think.Once TBN graced the airwaves (emanating from Orange County) tongue-speaking was now televised.  This time, tongue-speaking was not done in a worship service but was part of the regular programming and often conflated with predictive prophesy– “the Lord will do this or that, and heal this one or that one.”  The interpretation was almost always supplied by the tongue-speaker.  The low point came during a televised “anointing service” held at Oral Roberts University in which three older Word-Faith evangelists (Oral Roberts, Kenneth Hagin Sr. and T. L. Osbourn) anointed three younger Word-Faith evangelists (Kenneth Hagin Jr, Kenneth Copeland, and Richard Roberts).  Once anointed, the men acted as though in a drunken stupor, spoke in tongues (one of which sounded like the Cab Calloway's riff from the Blues Brothers–scubity-do, scubity-do--scubity-do).  Not a known language.  A VHS recording of this made the rounds and to no one's surprise, the universal assessment was “these people are crazy.”This is why a study of Paul's instructions to the churches on 1 Corinthians 14:20-40 about the proper use of prophesy and tongue-speaking is about as practical a matter as one can find.  Paul would have none of this.  Neither should we.For show notes and other recommended materials located at the Riddleblog as mentioned during the Blessed Hope Podcast, click here: https://www.kimriddlebarger.com/

It's New Orleans: Out to Lunch

We use numbers to measure all kinds of things. Inches, pounds, degrees, birthdays… Numbers that denote height, weight, and temperature, are culturally neutral. Numbers that measure years are not. We give select numbers of years special significance. 18, you can vote. 21, you can buy alcohol. 65 you can collect social security. We regard numbers that measure decades as milestones. One hundred is the big one. 50 years - half-way there – and 25 years - a quarter-way there - are big deals too. So, when 2025 rolled around we went looking for businesses for whom this quarter century point was significant. We found two. Café Reconcile was founded in 2000. Their 25th birthday is 2025. They’re a restaurant and a workforce development program. They hire kids aged 16-24 who are at risk or might have already made regrettable decisions. They train these young people in all aspects of the hospitality industry, with the goal of graduating them into careers in New Orleans restaurants, hotels, and other places of employment beyond hospitality. And talking of the significance of the number 25, Café Reconcile has been recognized by no less than the New York Times as one of New Orleans’ 25 best restaurants. Our other business for whom 2025 is a significant milestone is a small Mid City ice cream store and bakery with a giant reputation and massive following, simply named after its founder, Angelo Brocato. Angelo opened his store in 1905, making 2025 the business’s 120th birthday. Today, Angelo’s grandson, Arthur, owns and runs the business. If you had $10 for every time someone said, “New Orleans is known for its food” you’d be able to pay for a lot of meals at Café Reconcile and buy a lot of Angelo Brocato’s ice cream. But that sentence is a little misleading. If you live here, you know it’s not our food we’re known for. It’s the history, the culture, the time, the love, and the intangible elements that create this unique city that somehow find their way into the food. It's not the catfish at Café Reconcile or the Mint Chocolate Chip gelato at Angelo Brocato’s… Well, okay it is that – but it’s also people like Kheri and the quarter century of caring at Café Reconcile, and like Arthur, his family and 120 years of joy at Angelo Brocato’s that make New Orleans New Orleans. Out to Lunch was recorded live over lunch at Columns in Uptown New Orleans.
