Wanna hear the FULL Episode? Sign up for the Grad Program today! Today we have a special guest; Louis Caras, a Tactical Response Small Arms & Tactics instructor who will join us to discuss a troubling situation. Why is it in the year of Our Lord, Two-thousand and Twenty-Five, that there are still so-called experts in the world of firearms who ignore the importance of traumatic medical training and gear? We have a question from an audience member that plays right into our Tech Talk segment from EOTech Inc. What is the difference between target focus and sight focus? Also, can an optic on a handgun be beneficial while moving and shooting or is it a drawback? Student of the Gun has a new partner: Blackout Coffee and you can support the show by using the link found in the show notes. Additionally, Professor Paul has a reminder that Christmas is coming up and now is the time to order an SOTG branded coffee mug for the one that you love. During our Leadership Lesson, Paul has some suggested reading which can now be consumed via audiobook.  Have you read the Morning Mindset book yet? As usual, we have our Fighting Fitness segment. Paul gives an update regarding what we will call the Nick Orr Challenge. Do not neglect your leg strength. And, is eating protein a bad thing? Paul and Jarrad consider an OpEd that seriously questions the consumption of protein. In October 1985, four-year-old Timothy “TJ” Davison vanished from a grocery store parking lot in Decatur, Illinois — in broad daylight, while his aunt was just steps away. What followed was one of the most haunting mysteries in Central Illinois history: decades of silence, false leads, and another family disappearance that may be connected in ways no one ever proved. Nearly forty years later, American Dread revisits the case that still grips Decatur — the boy who vanished in twenty-five minutes, and the questions that still echo through time.  Brought to you by American Hauntings Network. Our Sponsors:* Check out CBDfx and use my code HAUNTINGS for a great deal: https://cbdfx.com* Check out Shopify: https://shopify.com/hauntings* Check out Uncommon Goods: https://uncommongoods.com/HAUNTINGSSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/american-hauntings-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Twenty-five break-ins since 2020 at one Seattle restaurant. TWENTY-FIVE. What's the owner's brilliant strategy? Keep calling city officials who can't help him while bleeding six figures in repairs and security upgrades. Meanwhile, Seattle voters just picked a 43-year-old socialist whose parents send her $2,200 monthly for daycare to potentially run the city. You can't make this stuff up.We break down how progressive policies created this crime wave, why the revolving door justice system enables repeat offenders, and what happens when "defund the police" meets reality. From understaffed police departments to judges who think 45 felony convictions deserve diversion programs, Seattle's small businesses are getting crushed by the very policies their owners probably voted for.Is this restaurant owner finally going to cut his losses, or will he stick around for break-in number 50? How long before every business owner realizes their tax dollars are funding their own destruction? What's your breaking point - literally?

Explore the intricate layers of Actus Reus, a fundamental concept in criminal law. This episode delves into the challenges of defining and proving the physical act of a crime, examining real-world cases and legal interpretations. Join us as we navigate the complexities of actions, omissions, and the legal thresholds that determine criminal responsibility. In the realm of criminal law, understanding the concept of Actus Reus is crucial. Imagine a scenario where an action—or lack thereof—determines the fate of an individual in the justice system. This blog post delves into the complexities surrounding Actus Reus, the physical act of a crime, and its pivotal role in legal proceedings. The Essence of Actus Reus: Actus Reus, Latin for "guilty act," is a fundamental component of criminal liability. It refers to the physical element of a crime, encompassing actions, omissions, and circumstances that constitute a criminal offense. Unlike Mens Rea, which focuses on the mental state, Actus Reus is concerned with the tangible aspects of a crime.Challenges in Defining Actus Reus: One of the primary challenges in criminal law is defining what constitutes an act. Is it merely the physical movement, or does it include the context and consequences? Legal systems worldwide grapple with these questions, often leading to varied interpretations and applications in court.Real-World Implications: Consider a case where an individual's failure to act results in harm. Is this omission sufficient to establish criminal liability? The complexity of Actus Reus lies in its ability to encompass both actions and inactions, making it a nuanced and often contentious element in legal proceedings.Understanding Actus Reus is essential for anyone navigating the legal landscape. Its complexity underscores the importance of context and interpretation in criminal law. As we continue to explore the intricacies of legal responsibility, Actus Reus remains a cornerstone of justice, shaping the outcomes of countless cases.Actus reus is the physical act or omission that constitutes a crime.Voluntariness is a critical requirement for establishing actus reus.Omissions can lead to criminal liability under specific circumstances.Possession is considered an act under criminal law, involving both an initial act and a continuing omission. The law punishes conduct, not mere thoughts or status.Causation is essential in linking the act to the resulting harm.Mens rea must coincide with actus reus for most crimes to establish liability.Strict liability crimes do not require proof of mens rea.Defenses like automatism can negate the actus reus requirement. The principles of actus reus are evolving with technology and societal changes.

On today's Keepin It Real, Cam wishes us a happy Independence Day and reminds us that on July 4th, 1776, nearly thirty percent of the population didn't want it. ----- Happy Fourth of July. Our nation's independence. It's a big deal. I don't think we feel it today like generations did in the past. The significance of it is likely lost on many of us. Those that fought in wars have a different type of appreciation for the Fourth of July but there are so many fewer of them today than there were. In 1980, about twenty percent of our population had served in the military. Today that number is closer to six percent. And less than three percent of our adult population has ever seen combat, this all from ChatGPT, by the way. So the veterans that have a special connection to July Fourth are such a small, small group. To most of us, today is a day where we sleep in a bit, get outside a bit, and hope to end the night with all ten fingers intact after shooting fireworks. We'll certainly see those stories on social media tomorrow– please don't let it be you. And in our remarkably divided country, both sides will make passionate speeches about liberty and freedom. Both sides will make claims that they're defending the country evil, which is the other party. Both sides will get cheers for their stances and jeer at the other party for theirs. Both sides convinced the other side is the root of nearly every problem from dud firecrackers to eczema to their bike's flat tire. “What do I do about this?”, I asked a friend last week. “What is my responsibility to this turmoil? To this hate?” She lives and works in New York City and had her non-profit's funding eliminated. Her answer was simple. Go talk to people, she said. Simply try to be a nice person. Try to understand. Maybe we will see the humanity in the other person and, we hope, they'll see it in us. Another I spoke to this week said he believes in pendulum swings and right now the pendulum has swung far in one direction. And just like a pendulum, the momentum can only last so long before it stops and reverses course. We celebrate July 4th for the bold decisions that led to the world we live in today. But in 1776 as much as thirty percent of the population opposed independence. And as much as forty percent didn't care one way or the other. Again, all of this courtesy of my new best friend ChatGPT. So, in 1776, a minority of our nation, about forty five percent, made cataclysmic decisions that we live with today. There must have been very heated discussions. Massive assumptions about those they disagreed with. However, to be able to discuss the direction our country is going in, to have a role in it, however small, I think we can agree, is a privilege. So today, for me, I'm going to focus on my good fortune to live in a place where I have some small input into our nation's direction. Though I feel like honesty, civility, and character are out of fashion right now, I believe the pendulum will eventually swing back. And, perhaps, I can speed up it's return by having some sincere conversations with people I disagree with. Consider joining me, please. Let's do this together. I'm Cam Marston and I'm just tyring to Keep it Real.

We present our The West Wing (Season 4) review! The fourth season of the American political drama television series The West Wing aired in the United States on NBC from September 25, 2002 to May 14, 2003 and consisted of 23 episodes. The fourth season covers the end of Bartlet's fourth year of his first term in office through the beginning of the first year of his second term. The season begins with the continuation of the election storyline with the president touring the nation and his staff trying to firm up presidential debates. The storyline ends in a clear victory for Bartlet less than halfway through the season in "Election Night". Other plots include Sam leaving the White House to run in a special election in California, the news of the Abdul Shareef assassination resonating both inside and outside the U.S., Will Bailey taking Sam's position after coming over from the California campaign's staff, the President and his staff facing the reality of an overseas genocide, and Vice President Hoynes being forced to resign after a sex scandal is uncovered. The fourth season ends with Bartlet's youngest daughter being taken hostage. Bartlet ends up invoking the 25th Amendment in the final episode, "Twenty Five." Since no one had been nominated to replace Hoynes, the presidency passes to the iron-willed conservative Republican Speaker of the House, Glen Allen Walken.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

Episode Synopsis:My first exposure to tongue-speaking did not go well.  In an “afterglow” service which followed a mid-week Bible study at an Orange County megachurch, a large number of the faithful remained after the study to “experience” the gifts of the Spirit, including the “gift of tongues.”  A young pastor took over from the Bible teacher and explained how to begin speaking in tongues.  He read several passages from Acts 2 and from 1 Corinthians 12-14 and told us that these verses were proof that the gift is “biblical,” “for today,” and enabled you to by-pass the clutter of the mind to commune with God “in the Spirit.”  He then told us, if you'd like to speak in tongues here's what you do.  You start by saying “kitty, kitty, kitty,” until the Spirit took over and gave you your prayer language.  The room was suddenly filled with people speaking gibberish, swaying, acting as though under the influence, crying, and making contorted faces as they spoke.  I wasn't having it, and quietly slipped out. Years later, after my biblical knowledge increased, I realized that the “afterglow” I witnessed that night was very much like what Paul was instructing the Corinthians not to do in the last half of 1 Corinthians 14.  There was no interpretation of any of these tongues, though several attendees did offer exhortations of their own utterances, but which very much sounded like Christianese made up on the fly.  Everyone spoke at once, and the whole room was filled with tongue-speakers, not merely two or three in order.  I was a Christian and still thought these people were crazy.  I can only imagine what an unbeliever would think.Once TBN graced the airwaves (emanating from Orange County) tongue-speaking was now televised.  This time, tongue-speaking was not done in a worship service but was part of the regular programming and often conflated with predictive prophesy– “the Lord will do this or that, and heal this one or that one.”  The interpretation was almost always supplied by the tongue-speaker.  The low point came during a televised “anointing service” held at Oral Roberts University in which three older Word-Faith evangelists (Oral Roberts, Kenneth Hagin Sr. and T. L. Osbourn) anointed three younger Word-Faith evangelists (Kenneth Hagin Jr, Kenneth Copeland, and Richard Roberts).  Once anointed, the men acted as though in a drunken stupor, spoke in tongues (one of which sounded like the Cab Calloway's riff from the Blues Brothers–scubity-do, scubity-do--scubity-do).  Not a known language.  A VHS recording of this made the rounds and to no one's surprise, the universal assessment was “these people are crazy.”This is why a study of Paul's instructions to the churches on 1 Corinthians 14:20-40 about the proper use of prophesy and tongue-speaking is about as practical a matter as one can find.  Paul would have none of this.  Neither should we.For show notes and other recommended materials located at the Riddleblog as mentioned during the Blessed Hope Podcast, click here: https://www.kimriddlebarger.com/
