The First Lady of Country Music, Loretta Lynn, passed away earlier this week leaving behind a legacy of country music. Lynn, of Scot-Irish decent, was the first woman singer-songwriter in Country music, breaking down barriers for women of country music around the world. Lynn wrote about heartache, relationships, hardships and life in "Butcher Holler", her home town. Today, we honor the Queen of Country Music along with music from Clare Dillon, Matt McGinn & Aoife Scott, Iona Fyfe, Breahbach, Brenda Castles, Leigh Bruckerville, Bonfire Radicals, Picture This, Brian Deady, Ronan Keating, and Lisa Lambe. John McLoughlin is a professional guitarist and classical guitar teacher from Dublin. He has played with a huge range of artists in his career, including Damien Dempsey, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Lisa Lambe and many others. In our conversation, John tells us how he discovered his love of playing music, and shares insights into life as a professional guitarist. He also talks about the knowledge and skills needed to be successful as a musician, and why it is so important not to lose sight of one's own creativity. The broadcast will include messages from people who have been diagnosed with cancer, including John Wall from Quin. On Friday's Morning Focus, Gavin Grace speaks to John Quinn, local cancer patient, Liz Yates from the Marie Keating Foundation and singer Brian Kennedy about the importance of the fundraiser in the midst of the Covid pandemic.

Panti meets writer Mark O'Connell, 'Notes from an Apocalyse' novelist Cauvery Madhaven 'The Tainted' and singer and actor Lisa Lambe.
