It is a tough time for truth in the world. The New York Times has just run an opinion piece on the falsehood that Israel has trained its dogs to rape Palestinian prisoners. This is fake news, and it is very, very dangerous. We talk more about it in our Substack, but as journalists we need to point out that there are so many red flags in the piece — bad sourcing, no evidence, no independent evidence at all.As we recorded this week's podcast on Monday, we realized it was the day the October 7 play was supposed to be performed in Dublin. However, as you know, the National Concert Hall cancelled the booking. It seems there is no room for truth in the New York Times or Ireland these days. And as emigrants, we understand the struggle of balancing the retelling of the thrills and struggles of your new life while keeping it real. Shouldn't journalists do the same?We reveal how the story of a Miami plastic surgeon from Ireland was whitewashed to cover up a "gender-affirming" child mutilation scandal. We also reveal all of the things NPR hasn't considered in what we call a modern-day “final solution,” as well as why a woman swimming in urine is an “artful”…*****************************************************To Donate: https://secure.anedot.com/unreported-story-society/october7_dublinProjects You Need to Check Out: https://unreportedstorysociety.com/our-projects/To read Substackhttps://phelimmcaleer.substack.com/p/jewish-rape-dogs-and-the-new-york Ann & Phelim SocialsPhelim's X: (https://x.com/PhelimMcAleer)Ann's X: (https://x.com/annmcelhinney)USS SocialsInsta: (https://www.instagram.com/unreportedstorysociety/)Facebook: (https://www.facebook.com/TheAPScoop/)X: (https://x.com/AP_Unreported)*****************************************************

A County Clare traditional music group has taken home the top prize in this year's Siansa Gael Linn competition, one of the most prestigious showcases for young Irish musicians. AISTEAR impressed judges and audiences alike with a standout performance at the National Concert Hall, earning them first place in a fiercely competitive field. To tell us more, musicians Kieran Brennan and Clodagh Kennedy joined Alan Morrissey in the studio.
This week we have decided to look at what happens when wokeness takes over. Voices are lost and the truth is lost. When the National Concert Hall in Ireland cancelled our planned performance of the OCTOBER 7 play, they didn't just cancel our work, they cancelled real Israeli voices. This week we bring you one such voice. Rachel Goldberg-Polin is the mother of Hersh Goldberg-Polin, who was murdered while in captivity after being abducted by Hamas at the Nova music festival. She gave an amazing interview about his life and death and we play an excerpt and you will also hear from his aunt Abby Polin, who has seen the play several times and spoke at many of the performances. These voices must be heard. Israeli voices from Oct 7 must be heard in Ireland and we will make sure it happens. Watch this space.Of course not all voices are equal. We have been on the Megyn Kelly show in the past but she has gone down the Tucker Carlson/Candace Owens retard rabbit hole. We show how astute observers could have seen this coming. We reveal how for Megyn it's always about chasing an audience and a check. And talking about terrible people. California Governor Gavin Newsom is very proud that his memoir is a New York Times bestseller. But did you know he faked the numbers? We reveal how.Can you believe the Democrats want to run him for President? From the terrible to the sublime - please listen to the podcast to hear an Artemis II astronaut realize his atheism just doesn't explain what he has witnessed in the heavens. And sorry to end on this but we also reveal how leftists believe that being offended by body odour is a sign you are right wing. I mean I know leftists didn't like to shower but this is ridiculous. As we said earlier we are determined to bring OCTOBER 7 the play to Ireland but we need your help. Please go to the link below to donate. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit so any contribution will be tax-deductible.And if you've finished this week's episode and found yourself trapped in a sorry state of Scooplessness, please consider subscribing to our Stories.io Substack where you can get our content beyond the weekly show:https://phelimmcaleer.substack.com/To Donate:https://secure.anedot.com/unreported-story-society/october7_dublinProjects You Need to Check Out:https://unreportedstorysociety.com/our-projects/Ann & Phelim SocialsPhelim's X: (https://x.com/PhelimMcAleer)Ann's X: (https://x.com/annmcelhinney)USS SocialsInsta: (https://www.instagram.com/unreportedstorysociety/)Facebook: (https://www.facebook.com/TheAPScoop/)X: (https://x.com/AP_Unreported)
The National Concert Hall in Ireland has cancelled our planned performance of the OCTOBER 7 play.It seems there is no room in Ireland for the truth about Israel. This is very serious. It is terrible news for us - terrible news for the truth but really terrible news for Ireland's reputation. We went to Israel after the massacres to collect the testimony of those who lived through the country's darkest day. We saw there was a need for the truth in Ireland and further afield. We created OCTOBER 7, a verbatim play, from the stories we heard. The New York Post described the play as “compelling”.We bring the behind-the-scenes drama and our plans to beat the Irish ban.Watch today's podcast to hear the full behind-the-scenes story of how they are trying to kill the truth in Ireland. And the vile anti-Semitic abuse that we have experienced just for wanting to tell the truth. And we ask if Ireland is the most anti-Semitic country in Europe. The podcast features an interview with our old friend and frequent guest Jenny Holland. She has special insight into the madness as a former liberal journalist, who grew up in New York and is now living in Ireland. A brave soul indeed. She also has very interesting insights into the rot at the heart of the arts establishment on both sides of the Atlantic. It's worse than you think. You can read her “Saving Culture (from itself)” Substack and visit her YouTube channel through the links below. And Phelim finds it hard to say but it has to be said he has sympathy for Eric Swalwell and so should you. We reveal the truth you won't see elsewhere. And we bring back one of our favorite recipes! Ann made scones (which should be pronounced like sconn or should it?). Now do you put the clotted cream or jam (jelly) on first? Put your method in the comments. And we bring you some very crazy headlines this week. First, we present to you the manager of a sober bar that was charged with drunk driving. Also there was a raccoon in Virginia that couldn't hold his liquor, and passed out in a store bathroom. And no his name wasn't Eric Swalwell. Watch the cutest bandit on this week's show!!We are determined to bring OCTOBER 7 the play to Ireland but we need your help. Please go to the link below to donate. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit so any contribution will be tax-deductible.And if you're bored from waiting for your scones to come out of the oven, please consider subscribing to our Stories.io Substack, linked below, where you can get our content beyond the weekly show.Substack: https://phelimmcaleer.substack.com/Subscribe to Jenny's YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/@SavingCultureFromItselfSubscribe to her Substack here: https://jennyeholland.substack.comTo Donate:https://secure.anedot.com/unreported-story-society/october7_dublinProjects You Need to Check Out:https://unreportedstorysociety.com/our-projects/To read Substack:https://phelimmcaleer.substack.com/p/unbelievable-ireland-bans-octoberGuest Jenny Holland's Social Tags: Instagram: @jennyehollandX: @SemperFemina21Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jenny.holland.180?Ann & Phelim SocialsPhelim's X: (https://x.com/PhelimMcAleer)Ann's X: (https://x.com/annmcelhinney)USS SocialsInsta: (https://www.instagram.com/unreportedstorysociety/)Facebook: (https://www.facebook.com/TheAPScoop/)X: (https://x.com/AP_Unreported)
David Kitt released The Big Romance (KIttser's Version) on April 8 via All City's Alchival label. The original record, which has featured in a number of ‘greatest Irish albums' lists, marks its 25th anniversary this year, having been released on June 18, 2001. Following his home-recorded debut Small Moments, 2001's The Big Romance marked Kittser's first experience working in a professional studio. “The bulk of the original album was recorded at Pulse Studios off Camden St. with producer Ken McHugh - owner of many of the synths and samplers and drum machines I dreamt of owning back then. It was such an exciting time to have access to this dream palette of sounds and Ken's skill and talent as a producer/programmer. I was bringing in records from underground electronica and hip hop as references for the sound I was going for and the results were a fusion of more traditional acoustic and electric instruments with electronic sounds and hip-hop flavours that was pretty fresh for the time. It felt like a distillation of all the things I was a fan of. It's a sound I feel I've been honing and crafting ever since.” The record - featuring the singles 'Song From Hope St. (Brooklyn, NY)' and 'You Know What I Wanna Know' - sold 60,000 copies in Ireland alone and marked a major shift in Kitt's life as a musician and performer. Originally released on Warner Music, Kitt says: “The contract I signed back then means they own the rights to the album 'for the universe forever', apparently. Great! I approached them about a vinyl reissue for the 10th and 20th anniversaries and got nowhere. So, for the 25th anniversary, I decided to take matters into my own hands and make a version of the album that I own myself and I'm free to press on vinyl.” The new release features all ten tracks of the original album along with three new tracks and b-side and fan favourite 'Saturdays' - all lovingly and faithfully remade in Ballinskelligs, at Kitt's home studio, with the invaluable help of Ken McHugh and drawing on his 25 years' experience of making records with synths and samplers. “I feel I've landed on a document that has the sonic and emotional DNA of the original - and at times improves on it, a record that will be cherished by fans of the original and would get the seal of approval from my 25-year-old self.” David Kitt will perform The Big Romance in full across two special shows at the National Concert Hall this week (Friday and Saturday, April 10-11), joined by an all-star band featuring Dylan Lynch, Rachael Lavelle, Katie Kim, Ryan Hargadon, Paul G. Smyth, Eamon Brady and Gareth Averill. Buy The Big Romance (Kittser's Version): https://davidkitt.bandcamp.com/album/the-big-romance-kittsers-version

Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, James Lawless TD, and Minister for Education and Youth, Hildegarde Naughton TD, have announced almost €6 million in funding to support 32 projects designed to engage the public in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) through the Research Ireland Discover Programme. The Research Ireland Discover Programme is a national initiative to widen participation in STEM. This year's projects will engage with people of all ages, from early childhood through to adulthood, through creative, community-embedded and inclusive approaches to STEM engagement. Announcing the awards, Minister Lawless said: "STEM is one of the most powerful forces driving Ireland's creativity, resilience and future prosperity. The projects announced today will widen access to STEM by bringing wonder, curiosity and real opportunities for learning into people's everyday lives. This investment isn't just about supporting programmes – it's about sparking imaginations. It brings conversations about research and innovation directly into our communities and helps nurture a new generation of explorers, problem solvers and innovators who will shape Ireland's future." Welcoming the announcement and her department's funding of six projects, Minister Naughton commented: "Today's funding is about opening doors for our children and young people. By supporting STEM projects both inside and outside the classroom, we are helping children and young people across Ireland to discover that science, technology, engineering and maths are not abstract subjects, but real career paths that they can step into. This investment will ensure more children and young people can see themselves in STEM, build their confidence, and will empower them to pursue it as part of their future." Dr Diarmuid O'Brien, CEO of Research Ireland, added: "The projects funded today highlight the creativity and ambition of Ireland's STEM engagement community, and their commitment to inspiring the next generation of scientists. They are also playing a vital role in helping people of all ages feel informed and connected to the role of STEM research in society. Research Ireland's strategy, launched earlier this week, is built on the three pillars of Talent, Economy and Society. We are proud to support these partners as they deliver programmes to democratise access to STEM across the country, and help support talent for our future economy and society." Some highlights of the 32 projects supported through the Discover Programme this year are: Energize, led by Ann Butler at Junior Achievement Ire Ltd, will target 6th class students in national and DEIS schools to educate them in sustainability, biodiversity and renewable energy, while exposing them to careers in STEM at an early age; The Chemistry Toolbox, led by Dr John O'Donoghue at Trinity College Dublin, will support early-career researchers and teachers to co-create inquiry-based chemistry investigations for the new Leaving Certificate specification, strengthening practical science particularly in DEIS and rural schools; H2O Heroes, led by Dr Caroline Gilleran Stephens at Dundalk Institute of Technology, is a hands-on environmental education programme that empowers communities to investigate water quality, biodiversity and climate action using their local rivers and green spaces as 'outdoor laboratories'; Twelve higher education institutions and 8 organisations are leading projects in this year's Discover programme. These are: Circus250 CIC, Dublin City University, Dundalk Institute of Technology, Education for Sustainability, Irish Computer Society, Irish Manufacturing Research, Junior Achievement Ire Ltd., Kinia, Mary Immaculate College, Maynooth University, National College of Ireland, RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences, South East Technological University, Stop.watch Television Ltd., Technological University of the Shannon, The National Concert Hall, Trin...

In this month's ARINS podcast, host Rory Montgomery chat to Fintan O'Toole and Sam McBride about their recent ARINS publication: For and Against a United Ireland. The prospect of Irish unification is now stronger than at any point since partition in 1921. Voters on both sides of the Irish border may soon have to confront for themselves what the answer to a referendum question would mean - for themselves, for their neighbours, and for their society. Journalists Fintan O'Toole and Sam McBride examine the strongest arguments for and against a united Ireland. What do the words 'united Ireland' even mean? Would it be better for Northern Ireland? Would it improve lives in the Republic of Ireland? And could it be brought about without bloodshed? O'Toole and McBride each argue the case for and against unity, questioning received wisdom and bringing fresh thinking to one of Ireland's most intractable questions. With cartoons by Fergus Boylan. The book has been shortlisted for An Post Book Award 2025 - BEST IRISH-PUBLISHED BOOK OF THE YEAR. See shortlist Book tickets to see the authors debate the strongest arguments for and against a united Ireland in The Lyric Theatre, Belfast and The National Concert Hall, Dublin in November 2025! --- This is episode 47 of a podcast series that provides evidence-based research and analysis on the most significant questions of policy and public debate facing the island of Ireland, north and south. Host Rory Montgomery, MRIA, talks to authors of articles on topics such as cross border health co-operation; the need to regulate social media in referendums, education, cultural affairs and constitutional questions and the imperative for good data and the need to carry out impartial research. ARINS: Analysing and Researching Ireland North and South brings together experts to provide evidence-based research and analysis on the most significant questions of policy and public debate facing the island of Ireland, north and south. The project publishes, facilitates and disseminates research on the challenges and opportunities presented to the island in a post-Brexit context, with the intention of contributing to an informed public discourse. Regarded as the most important and influential musician on the Irish jazz scene, saxophonist/flutist and composer Michael Buckley has been playing professionally since the age of six when critics hailed him as a child prodigy. Born in Dublin city in 1971 Michael first came to prominence on an International level when, aged 10, he played flute with the legendary saxophonist George Coleman in the National Concert Hall. Though largely self-taught, his obvious talent has been developed by his father Dick Buckley, and such legends as Milt Hinton. Buckley has found his unique voice playing both saxophone and flute. Buckley has been collaborating with the World Jazz Orchestra, where Michael represented Ireland, the Edinburgh Jazz Festival Orchestra (led by Tim Hagans), and small group tours and concerts with Dave Liebman, John Abercrombie, Joey Baron, Jason Rebello, Nils Wolgram, Tom Rainey, and Chander Sardjoe, to name but a few. Now in his early 40s, Buckley is rapidly becoming the most important producer of his generation. With countless albums ranging from jazz to traditional to hip-hop, Michael is making a name for himself internationally as a producer and engineer. Buckley has also performed and toured in recent years with The Mingus Big Band, Jason Moran, Kurt Rosenwinkle, Edward Simon, Pete King, Badal Roy, Kenny Wheeler, Lee Konitz, Grant Stewart, Ingrid Jensen, Guy Barker, Greg Burk, Damon Brown, Kevin Dean, Florian Ross, soloist with the BBC big band, Albert Sanz, and Gerard Presencer among others. As well as frequent radio spots, Michael has made numerous television appearances, regularly works on film and television scores, and recently collaborated on recordings with Donovan, the Cranberries, The Coors, Jerry Lee Louis, and Johnny Mattis.
