I wanted to share some important health information about plastic containers. New research shows that tiny pieces of plastic — called microplastics — may be getting into our bodies more than most people realize. What Are Microplastics? Microplastics are very small plastic pieces, usually smaller than a pencil eraser. They break off from larger plastics over time. Scientists have found these particles in human blood, lungs, liver, and even in unborn babies. This means most people are already being exposed. How Do They Get Into Our Bodies? Plastic food and drink containers are one of the main sources. When plastic containers get scratched, worn out, or heated up, they can release tiny particles into your food or drink. Bottled water and packaged foods are also common sources. Plastics also contain added chemicals — like phthalates and bisphenols — that can leak into what you eat and drink. Why Does It Matter? Scientists are still learning how harmful microplastics really are, but early studies suggest they may cause inflammation, cell damage, and problems with the immune system. Some research also points to possible links with heart disease and reproductive health. Most experts agree that more studies are needed before we fully understand the risks. What Can You Do? The good news is there are simple steps you can take to lower your exposure: Switch to glass, stainless steel, or ceramic containers when you can Never microwave food in plastic — heat causes plastic to release more particles and chemicals Use a reusable stainless - steel water bottle instead of single - use plastic bottles Cut back on bottled water Try to buy food with less plastic packaging Throw away old or scratched plastic containers Dust and vacuum your home regularly — microplastics can float in the air too You probably can't avoid microplastics completely, but these small changes can make a real difference while scientists continue to study the long - term effects."

Morse Tan is a freedom-fighter who served as ambassador-at-large for Global Criminal Justice during the first Trump administration. Today, he is effectively a political prisoner in South Korea.  Amb. Tan has long spoken truth to power. In particular, he has warned about the lengths to which the Republic of Korea's radical leftists have subverted freedom and elections. He's even courageously done so in South Korea.  Now that the hard Left is fully in power in Seoul under a Communist named Lee Jae-myung, the Ambassador has been prevented from leaving South Korea for over five weeks. That is outrageous. When Lee visited Washington last year, President Trump declined to criticize him over myriad, serious concerns about his guest's decades of anti-American activism. It's high time Mr. Trump let Lee know his present mistreatment of Amb. Tan is utterly unacceptable. This is Frank Gaffney.

The music of the Carolinas (and Appalachia in general) stems from the marriage of the Irish fiddle and the African banjo, which first met in the South before the revolution. The Tan and Sober Gentlemen aim to bring these traditions full circle, blending Irish tunes, ballads, and pub songs with the Appalachian old-time and bluegrass music they grew up on. The result is a ruckus known affectionately as “Irish-American hill-billy music”.Renowned as one of the South's most electrifying live folk bands, The Tan and Sober Gentlemen are known for blazing tempos, raw energy, and unforgettable shows. Their performances are raucous celebra-tions of the Carolinas' Irish heritage, filled with drinking, dancing, and downright joy, and have earned them a devoted following across the folk, bluegrass, celtic, and roots music scenes.Since forming in 2017, the Tan and Sober Gentlemen have toured across the United States and Ireland, per-forming at festivals including MerleFest, Blue Ox Festival, IBMA Bluegrass Live!, Bristol Rhythm & Roots, Appaloosa Festival, FloydFest, Ramble Fest, Shakori Hills, and internationally at Electric Picnic, Spraoi, and the world's largest Irish traditional music festival, Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.In January 2024, the band sold out the Haw River Ballroom on their home turf of Alamance County, North Carolina, performing to 800 fans and recording a live album. Live at the Haw River Ballroom was released in February 2025. El viernes pasado Apple presentó ante un tribunal federal de California una demanda contra OpenAI por robo de secretos comerciales. La acusación apunta a dos ex empleados de la compañía de Cupertino, Tang Yew Tan, hoy jefe de hardware de OpenAI y antiguo vicepresidente de diseño del iPhone y el Apple Watch, y Chang Liu, ingeniero eléctrico que pasó más de ocho años en Apple antes de marcharse en enero de este año. Ambos habrían orquestado un plan coordinado para sustraer información confidencial destinada a la incursión de OpenAI en el hardware de consumo. Apple no reprocha que OpenAI fiche a sus ingenieros, algo que es legal, sino que estos se llevaran archivos, planos y piezas físicas. Según la demanda, Tan convertía las entrevistas de trabajo en sesiones de extracción de datos, mencionaba proyectos secretos por su nombre en clave y pedía a los candidatos presentaciones técnicas detalladas e incluso piezas reales de Apple, baterías y placas. Uno de los aspirantes confesó que ignoraba que ese material pudiera sacarse del laboratorio. Liu no devolvió su portátil al marcharse de Apple y aprovechó una vulnerabilidad para seguir accediendo a la nube interna mientras ya cobraba de OpenAI, algo que celebró por escrito entre risas. Apple habla también de un manual de evasión que enseñaba a los empleados que se iban a esquivar los controles de seguridad. Más de 400 antiguos trabajadores de Apple están hoy en OpenAI, un éxodo de dimensiones bíblicas. El hecho es que Apple y OpenAI son socios desde 2024 cuando anunciaron la integración de ChatGPT en Siri. El idilio no duró mucho, se torció cuando OpenAI compró io Products, la startup de Jony Ive, por 6.500 millones de dólares. La verdadera razón de la demanda es que OpenAI prepara una nueva clase de dispositivo que aspira a enterrar al teléfono, no a competir con él. Esto inevitablemente recuerda a 2010, cuando Steve Jobs anticipó una guerra termonuclear contra Android por considerarlo un producto robado. La cuestión es que Apple ha sido acusada tantas veces de apropiarse de ideas ajenas que a muchos les resulta sorprendente que el ladrón se rasgue las vestiduras de un modo tan ruidoso. Pero Apple no está en su mejor momento, se ha demostrado incapaz de desarrollar una IA propia y tiene que depender de otros, ahora de ChatGPT y en el futuro del Gemini de Google. La demanda llega en el peor momento para OpenAI que libra batallas legales en varios frentes. Un juez desestimó el 15 de junio una demanda similar de xAI, precedente que ahora puede utilizar a su favor. El Estado de Florida denunció a la empresa el mes pasado por su comercialización agresiva entre menores, y persisten los casos por derechos de autor con periódicos y autores. El caso supone además una transición simbólica. La demanda ha sido una de las últimas decisiones de Tim Cook antes de ceder el mando a John Ternus. Cook se despide lanzando un misil contra un socio convertido en rival. Los pleitos pueden entorpecer al enemigo, pero las guerras se ganan con productos, y ahí Apple lleva tiempo tropezando frente a quien no quiere un teléfono mejor, sino un mundo donde el teléfono ya no haga falta. GLP-1s have taken the country by storm. Patients are losing and keeping off weight at levels previously only seen through bariatric surgery. Research trials have shown the drugs to be effective at reducing the risk of heart attack, stroke, and cardiovascular death. They protect the kidneys, reduce sleep apnea, and treat fatty liver and peripheral artery disease – all while being studied for a laundry-list of additional indications. The drugs originally designed for glucose control in diabetes are transforming lives — and raising big social questions. Our guest on this episode is Dr. Marilyn Tan, clinical professor of medicine at Stanford University and chief of the Endocrine Clinic at Stanford Health Care. Dr. Tan focuses on diabetes management in both her clinical practice and research, and she is on the front lines of using GLP1-1s in patient care.Over the course of our conversation, Dr. Tan provides a brief history of the development of GLP-1s and describes just how large a leap forward these medications are in weight management.
