Jeannine and Nate interview Coach Andrew Moses, a drug and alcohol recovery coach and mentor. Andrew has developed a personalized, non-12 step, recovery coaching program based on his personal experience and the formula he developed to create a positive vision for the future of his clients. Initially chemically dependent on OxyContin, then methamphetamine, Andrew finally kicked his drug habits for good in 2018, after joining a gym and beginning to prioritize his health. Andrew also discusses his theory around gay trauma, the effect he classifies as a result of living as a closeted gay person for a length of time. WHat's REAL? Which is it? Religion. Faith Healing. Addiction Program forced on you by the COURTS of the United States of America. Is this the 1600's? What is meant by a spiritual program? Why do they get to tell you "HOW TO PRAY" and who you can pray for" Who is really in charge of AA. If no one is why are AA sponsors bossing you around? If no one is responsible or in charge why are they paying themsleves 400k a year to run the big fancy office in NYC on Riverside Drive? How do priests really feel about AA? The 9th Circut Court of Appeal has deemed AA too religious in many states including California. So why does someone get sent 50 AA meetings by a Judge in 2012? Is he breaking the law? Is he responsable and liable if she gets raped by an AA guy? How bout shot in the head? FYI This Has already happened this year... Join me Next Tuesday for another episode of Safe Recovery.

It is with deep saddness that I write this today. I am doing a show all about this fantastic blog that is coming down for now. Friend the girl and MA have been running this puppy for almost 3 years. They have helped thousands and pissed off many Pro AA'ers. Many who were leaving 12 step had no where to turn for support but they did here. I will be launching something to catch us till something else is done. massive

Our first guest is Dr. Amanda Reiman of UC Berkeley. Dr. Reiman has made an in depth study of medical marijuana dispensaries and the use of cannabis to treat addiction. Her publications include "Cannabis as a substitute for alcohol and other drugs" (PMID 19958538). We will be discussing the success rates of marijuana maintenance programs. Our second guest is Dr. Ed Wilson from Non 12 Step Alcoholism Treatment http://www.non12step.com . Dr. Wilson will be discussing with us the fact that it is possible to recover from alcoholism without spirituality or a higher power, and that secular programs which rely on science have far higher success rates than do 12 step programs which require a spiritual solution. We will close with our regular weekly feature--Stanton Peele's thoughts of the week.
Dr. Mary Ellen Barnes, president of Non 12 Step Treatment, will be our first guest of the evening and she will discuss the evidence-based treatment protocols which she uses at her alcoholism treatment facility in California. Her web site is http://www.non12step.com Our second guest is James Gierach from Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP www.leap.cc). Mr. Gierach is a Former Cook County, Illinois State Prosecutor who will be speaking out against the war on drugs. As always we reserve the final 10 minutes of the show for Stanton's Corner, where Dr. Stanton Peele will comment on addiction issues of the day.
