The Good Brothers take one last look into the mad Elseworlds of DC Animation with a review of another version of The Boy Wonder, as chosen by the listeners of the podcast! And unsurprisingly the winner of the poll was overwhelmingly in favor of Young Justice which leads the hosts to review the season one episode "Homefront." With an episode that focuses on the differences between a seasoned veteran in Robin and a fairly new hero in Artemis, the hosts talk about a plot that has one storyline and one that deals with both classic comic book tropes for defeating robots and the often overlooked mental-health aspect of our main heroes. Cal and Liam discuss the show's visuals which include some fantastic chase scenes and homages to famous characters in other movie franchises, music that settles in for a good mood setting, horror-invoking soundtrack and a small but effective voice cast that includes a few recognizable and award winning voice actors. Wrapping things up, the brothers preview next month's trip to the future on this week's all new DCAU Review! I'm back! My health took a turn for a bit there (see the ending of the podcast for details, if you want), and I had to take some time off all forms of work. But for the sake of getting something out, I'm posting this one without a Kenobi or Strange New Worlds discussion--check back on Monday the 27th for that! Otherwise... News at 0:07:52 talking some basic updates and fun reminders, then touching on a whole bunch of announcements: the Black Adam trailer, the Thunderbolts movie, Doctor Who 60th, Joker 2 (ugh), Game of Thrones, Wonder Man, Venom 3, the Penguin, Hercules, new Avatar movies, and the future of the MCU! Comic book picks from the weeks of June 8th and 15th at 0:45:00, including Poison Ivy #1, Iron Man #20, and more, plus my top pick of both weeks: Seven Sons #1 of 7, from Image! Skipping over Kenobi for this one episode (we'll cover him on Ep 69, don't worry!), we discuss the finale of Young Justice, season 4, at 1:10:00, plus where I think the show will be going with season 5. Then, at last, we have the first two episodes of Ms Marvel! Episode One at 1:18:28 and two at 1:31:00. Episode 3 will be covered, like Kenobi, on episode 69. For now, these show discussions are full of all kinds of Easter eggs, comics references, and fun theories! I'll be back for episode 69 of the Yancy Street podcast this coming Monday the 27th, talking the Kenobi finale, episode 3 of Ms Marvel, what I've missed from Strange New Worlds, plus news, picks and pulls, and maybe even September big-two solicitations! On an all-new episode of The Superhero Show Show, the boys lock the girls out of the studio and have a testosterone-fueled festival of high-fives! Just kidding! You should still listen. On the docket tonight is a check-in with Young Justice: Phantoms. What do Mike and Ryan think of the weirdest cartoon this side of XTAS? Will this be the episode where the Titans finally get through to Conner? Will this be the episode where Rocket figures out how to make things work while sharing custody of her son? Will this be the Forager where Forager learns how to Forager? Tune in to find out. Also, we the boys head to Punishment Corner, where Mike slipped up, and is forced to watch Morbius! Do people like movies better when they're forced to watch them? And how will Ryan handle an entire segment about a movie he has never seen and will never seen! Finally, the Taste Buds head to X-TASmania to discuss episode #403, Courage! As if it wasn't bad enough they have to talk about Morbius, they also have to deal with superhero TV's second most annoying character, Morph! Will this be the episode where Morph proves to be a cool guy? Doubtful! All of that, plus reviews and discussions on every other comic-based TV show this week, including Fear the Walking Dead, Riverdale, The Flash, and a special report on the Stargirl issue of the Earth Prime comic book! The Animation Deliberation Team (with a capital T) is back to give thoughts, feedback and reactions to Young Justice Phantom's newest eventful episode as the series nears the season finale.
Greg Cipes has voiced Beast Boy since the original Teen Titans show in 2003. After that show's successful run, Cipes went on to voice dozens of other characters. Then, in 2013, the spinoff Teen Titans Go! launched on Cartoon Network with Cipes returning to the Beast Boy role. He later reprised his role as Beast Boy in the HBO Max show Young Justice. Teen Titans Go! & DC Super Hero Girls: Mayhem in the Multiverse is a crossover that was announced on the 2021 DC Kids Fandome. It was released on May 24th on Blu-Ray/DVD and is slated to be released on May 28th on Cartoon Network and June 28th on HBO Max. In this episode, which Cipes recorded while walking nonstop on the streets of New York City. Accompanied by his dog, Wingman G, Cipes spoke about how Beast Boy was his first-ever role. He discussed the freedom he and the other cast members had to inject their own personalities into their characters. Follow Greg Cipes on social media @GregCipes.
