Meet Siobhan Coombs in this episode. She's the founder of @CockatooComics based in Sydney Australia. She helps us understand the role of cartoons and movies in our pop culture. She mentions Pat Grant and the Comics Code Authority from the USA and the impact that had on the world since the 1960s. What is "the seduction of the innocent?" How does she run a business and manage two young boys along with her partner and some help from many? This is a great interview and who knows... we might see her in a Shakespeare play one day. Here she is with her business partner:https://www.flickr.com/photos/bobmendo/51994460361/in/album-72177720296857670/Amanda McInnes continues in her sponsorship of the podcast. Cameo - Attack Me With Your Love Remastered & ReEdited By Petko Turner In 1974, Cameo started out with 10 members created by Larry Blackmon and called the New York City Players. Signed by Casablanca Records to their Chocolate City imprint in 1976, the group soon changed its name to Cameo after concerns that New York City Players might cause confusion between them and the funk band Ohio Players. Prior to this, Blackmon, keyboardist Gregory Johnson, and the late Gwen Guthrie formed the band East Coast, together with James Wheeler (alto saxophone), Melvin Whay (bass), Michael Harris (percussion), and Haras Fyre (also known as Pat Grant) on trombone. They released one self-titled album in 1973 on the independent label Encounter. Cameo started with a deep, funk sound, but it was obvious from the start their sights were set on the dance floor. Their first album was Cardiac Arrest which featured their first hit single, "Rigor Mortis." Ugly Ego, We All Know Who We Are, and Secret Omen contained dance floor songs such as "I Just Want To Be" and "Find My Way", the latter of which was a major disco smash and was included on the Thank God It's Friday soundtrack. ("Find My Way" was their cover of a 1972 Three Degrees and a 1969 Tymes tune.) The height of Cameo's career was in the 1980s, particularly Word Up! with its hits, "Word Up!" and "Candy".

After an extended break, we're back! On this episode I met up with previous guest Marcelo Baez and newcomer to Pod Kembla, Pat Grant. Both of these fine gentlemen are comics creators, ambassadors, educators and all round great blokes. Another thing they have in common is their superb and iconic poster design; in Marcelo's case in the form of the 3D Comic Gong poster that you may have seen around the traps earlier in the year, and Pat drew this years now infamous Yours & Owls Festival poster that has been plastered up and down the South Coast, even making its way as far as Sydney. They both gracefully agreed to meet me at Kürtõsh down at Globe Lane to talk about their craft, comics and design history as well as a little bit of life spruced in for good measure.  However, most importantly I wanted to talk with Pat about his spectacular book Blue, and the subsequent live reading/performance which is happening at the Arts Precinct in Wollongong on Thursday the 29th of September, as a part of the Yours & Owls Fringe Festival events. We also talked about the fellers current and previous projects, all of which you can find links to below. I suggest you check them all out. You can read Blue for free online, or you can purchase hardcopies online or anywhere quality books are sold. If you find yourself in the Wollongong and surrounding areas next Thursday, I strongly suggest you go along to the live performance of Blue and get yourself a dose of quality home grown artistic edutainment.    Marcelo  Blog - http://marcelo-baez.blogspot.com.au Deviant Art - http://marcelo-baez.deviantart.com/gallery/ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/marcelodraws/ Twitter - https://twitter.com/MarceloBaez_1 Pat Site - http://www.patgrantart.com Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/patgrantart/ Big Cartel - http://patgrantart.bigcartel.com/products Twitter - https://twitter.com/patgrantart Toormina Video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4eXTigOQSU&app=desktop Ambient Yeast - http://www.patgrantart.com/ambientyeast/ay.html Vanish Coast - http://www.patgrantart.com/vanishcoast/vc.html Live Graphic Novel Reading - https://www.facebook.com/events/1220533291338583/
