State of Origin fallout, Bulldogs' spine shake-up & Dean Young's Dragons future — Round 16 Review. Laurie Daley is under fire after NSW's Origin 2 blowout loss to Queensland, and the panel doesn't hold back Alex demands accountability from the coach, while Dean Ritchie pushes back on the personal criticism crossing the line. Is "sorry, we got it wrong" the speech Daley needs to give before Game 3? Plus, the Canterbury Bulldogs survived an ugly golden-point win over Manly, but Cameron Ciraldo's constant spine tinkering raises a bigger question is this team good enough to make the finals? The panel locks in the spine they believe can get the Bulldogs there. And at the Red V, Dean Young keeps finding signs of life in a one-win Dragons season. The panel asks the hard question: can you sign a coach based on potential alone, or does St George Illawarra need to look elsewhere?See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Abdellatif Kechiche's adaptation of Jul Maroh's Blue is the Warmest Color (2013) offers us a lot to talk about, but Criterion's release offers no additional content to frame our conversation, which is extra weird considering the hundreds of thousands of words written on this film upon its release. We're just two cishet guys talking about a lesbian relationship, but maybe that's ok because it doesn't seem like there were any lesbians involved in the lesbian romance movie anyway. But beyond the male gaze-y sex scenes there is a deeply interesting story of a relationship, of a young working class woman coming into her own, and of a student becoming a teacher becoming a burned out teacher.

According to director Terence Davies, he wasn't interested in presenting what happens chronologically next in a film, but emotionally what's next. As such The Long Day Closes (1992) is a stream-of-consciousness coming-of-age exploration of memory, budding sexuality, music, film, and musical films. Oh and there's a like a two minute shot of light on a carpet and it may be the most perfect thing we've ever seen?

Lemongrove Oil: https://www.lemongroveoil.com/ Episode Description In this episode of Conversations with a Chiropractor, Dr. Stephanie Wautier sits down with Dr. Craig Slapinski, a chiropractor and former Palmer College classmate whose career has taken him from the Midwest to Ghana, Nigeria, and beyond. Dr. Craig shares how a love of travel shaped his life long before chiropractic school. From building houses in Mexico as a teenager to studying abroad in London, backpacking through Europe, exploring China, and traveling through Southeast Asia, his path has always included curiosity, adventure, and a willingness to step into unfamiliar places. That same spirit eventually led him to Ghana after chiropractic school, where he worked in a high-volume clinic and quickly learned how to trust his hands, sharpen his adjusting skills, and serve patients with limited equipment and a lot of real-world pressure. Years later, he returned to West Africa with a more focused mission: to bring nonsurgical spinal decompression care to communities where access to this type of treatment was limited. Stephanie and Dr. Craig talk about chiropractic in Ghana and Nigeria, what makes the healthcare experience different from the United States, and how his clinics use spinal decompression, cold laser, exercise, ergonomics, and rehabilitation to help patients dealing with disc-related back pain. This conversation is also about finding your own path. Dr. Craig's story is a reminder that a chiropractic career can take many shapes, and that sometimes the road you end up on is not the one you planned, but the one that fits who you are becoming. This episode is meant to inform and inspire, not replace personal medical advice. If you are dealing with back pain, disc issues, sciatica, or considering surgery, please work with a qualified healthcare professional who can evaluate your individual situation. In This Episode, Discover How Dr. Craig Slapinski and Dr. Stephanie Wautier met at Palmer College of Chiropractic Dr. Craig's early love of international travel What he learned from traveling through Mexico, Europe, China, Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia How a planned move to China turned into an unexpected opportunity in Ghana What it was like practicing chiropractic in Ghana right out of school How high-volume care helped Dr. Craig sharpen his adjusting skills How he became interested in nonsurgical spinal decompression What spinal decompression is designed to do for disc-related back pain Why some patients may explore decompression before considering surgery How Dr. Craig combines decompression, cold laser, exercise, and ergonomics Why he returned to Ghana and eventually expanded into Nigeria The differences between insurance-driven care in the United States and cash-based care in Africa What healthcare access, MRIs, and patient education can look like in Ghana and Nigeria How Dr. Craig's clinics serve patients across West Africa Why chiropractic careers can take many different paths Stay Connected & Explore Learn More About Dr. Craig Slapinski: To learn more about Dr. Craig's work in West Africa, search: Spine and Nerve Center Ghana Spine and Nerve Center Nigeria Episode Sponsor: Lemongrove Oil: https://www.lemongroveoil.com/ Use coupon code DRSTEPHANIE at checkout for 10% off. We fell in love with Aki Kaurismäki when we first watched Le Havre (2011, Spine 619), and are very excited to talk about the original film in which André Wilms plays Marcel Marx, another tale of immigrant rights but this one an ode to a Paris that no longer exists, a bohemian lifestyle that is increasingly impossible under capitalism. Oh and speaking of being an artist under capitalism, we also talk about Martin Scorsese's recent announcement that he's using AI for storyboarding, a thing he is obviously not actually doing so I hope the money is worth it.

In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Steven Weiniger, posture expert, author, speaker, and creator of the StrongPosture® framework, to explore the deeper science behind posture, movement, and human performance. Together, we challenge the traditional view that posture is simply about spinal alignment and instead examine how the brain, nervous system, and sensory awareness shape the way we move and function. We dive into the relationship between structure and function, the impact of technology and modern lifestyle on movement patterns, and why posture is constantly adapting based on what we repeatedly do every day. Dr. Weiniger also breaks down the concept of interoception, the body's internal awareness system, and explains how it influences posture, balance, breathing, and even longevity. From chiropractic and movement to nervous system retraining and brain-body awareness, this conversation reframes posture as far more than a cosmetic issue. It's a reflection of how the body and brain communicate. If you want to better understand movement, performance, and the future of posture health, this episode will completely change the way you think about the human body. Key takeaways: Posture is a dynamic reflection of how the brain senses and controls the body, influenced by external and internal cues. Enhancing posture awareness and integrating strong postural movements can significantly impact longevity, resilience, and brain health. Interoception, the awareness of internal body signals, plays a crucial role in how posture is sensed and corrected. Effective posture training encompasses balance, alignment, and motion, encouraging an interconnected approach rather than isolated exercises. A simple longetivity test: Stand tall, lift one leg, and remain balanced for five slow breaths, combining breath awareness with core engagement. More About Dr. Steven Weiniger: Dr. Steven Weiniger is an internationally recognized posture expert, chiropractor, author, and researcher whose work bridges neuroscience, movement, posture, and healthy aging. He is the creator of the StrongPosture® framework, which explores the connection between posture, interoception, and the brain's predictive processing systems. His research has been published in journals including Frontiers in Neuroscience, and he has presented at the Annual Symposium for Active Inference. Dr. Weiniger is also the author of Stand Taller Live Longer, a practical guide focused on posture, movement, and longevity. Through his StrongPosture® program, he has trained thousands of clinicians worldwide as Certified Posture Exercise Professionals. He also serves on faculty at the University of Western States and teaches at institutions including Northwestern Health Sciences University and the University of Bridgeport. Dr. Weiniger's work has been featured on FOX, CBS, and NBC, helping bring the conversation around posture and brain-body health into the mainstream. 7 Steps to StrongPosture® Self-Help Program Online Continuing Education for Professionals Tools for Professionals CPEP® Certification Instagram Connect with me! What if your 10,000 steps a day were the reason your back hurts? Biomechanics engineer Gabriel Saravia, joins Nick Urban to break down why most chronic back pain comes from millimeter-scale vertebra shifts rather than weak muscles. After eliminating chronic pain in hundreds of clients ranging from world champions to people who couldn't move without bracing, his approach centers on spine-driven mechanics: the rotation, lateral flexion, and decompression patterns humans evolved for. Meet our guest Gabriel Saravia is an engineer turned biomechanics specialist and the creator of the Paraball, Paramace, and Parabell training systems. After years of chronic back pain from competitive squash and bodybuilding, he rebuilt his understanding of the human body from first principles and now coaches everyone from world champions to clients with severe movement limitations. His method centers on spine-driven mechanics: the rotation, lateral flexion, and decompression patterns humans evolved for. A discectomy can feel like instant relief until the pain comes back, and the “small” hole in the disc turns into a repeat surgery, degeneration, and lost mobility. Joining the podcast is Greg Lambrecht, founder and executive director of Intrinsic Therapeutics, with host Geoff Pardo to unpack why recurrent lumbar disc herniation is still so common, what surgeons and patients often don't see downstream, and how his team built Barricaid to address the problem at its source: the annular defect. They also discuss the engineering logic of a bone-anchored barrier and why early “optimal” designs failed inside a body that's anything but gentle, as well as CMS versus private payer incentives and why trial protocols should be negotiated with reimbursement stakeholders early. Spine specialist, Dr. Casey Johnston shares an interesting case of a 58 y.o. triathlete with severe back and leg pain. Dr. Casey Johnston, D.C. is the owner and Clinical Director for Desert Springs Chiropractic. He has been in full time private practice since 2001. He is an alumnus of Oklahoma State University and Texas Chiropractic College. Prior to his work at DSCC, he worked as the Lead Chiropractor for multi clinic medical organization in Houston, Texas. During his tenure he trained and established chiropractic and rehabilitation protocols for the Chiropractic, Physical Medicine and Physical Therapy Departments for the various clinics. Dedicated to continually offering the most cutting-edge care, Dr. Johnston consistently trains in new and advanced techniques. Using the most advanced research, Desert Springs offers a dynamic system for assessing and reassessing each patient as an individual. Designing individualized care for each person and their individual needs is our number one priority. Taking time to fully understand each patient's unique situation has often provided success in complicated cases when medicine, physical therapy, surgery and even other chiropractors have been unable to help. Dr. Johnston and our staff use Gonstead Chiropractic corrective adjustments, coupled with Titleist Performance Institute (analysis, strength and conditioning) rehab protocols to build an individualized and effective plan of action for our patients. Dr. Johnston employs both hands-on and/or low force mechanical adjusting techniques depending on the individual patients needs and requests. Dr. J, as he is often called, has significant experience with over 18 years working with injuries to the spinal discs (herniations, bulges, degenerative discs, sciatica, etc.). After injuring his own L5/S1 disc, he developed protocols to help others recover based on his personal experience and success. He often employs Cox Flexion/Distraction (using the Cox 8 table/instrument), decompression, ELDOA and the McKenzie method for disc conditions. Often, we work in combination with primary care physicians, pain management doctors and/or surgeons to achieve the best results for our patients.
