Send us a Text Message. It's been in the parks so long that it seems simply part of Disneyland's fabric, which it is.The Jungle Cruise is almost synonymous with the idea of "theme park." But it struggled with its identity for a very long time before becoming that attraction that we all know and love today. And some of the most fundamental players in its development have been obscured by time and corporate revisionist history.Join us as we travel the Rivers of Adventure at Disneyland Park, prior to the arrival of a certain fedora'd adventurer. The plot of A Midsummer Night's Dream is over by the end of Act 4. Is Act 5 a mere crowd-pleaser? Or, rather, does it widen the play's thematic perspective? Theseus's skeptical speech about the imagination is clearly not the whole story. Among the many opposites reconciled by the play are reality and imagination, but Shakespeare leaves the transforming power as a mystery, something we cannot understand, something language cannot even speak of. In the words of Bottom's speech, it is a bottomless dream. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/michael-dolzani/support

Jeff Bloom + Television Personalities & Rude Mechanicals in conversation with David Eastaugh The Television Personalities are an English post-punk band formed in 1977 by London singer-songwriter Dan Treacy. Their varied, volatile and long career encompasses post punk, neo-psychedelia and indie pop; the only constant being Treacy's songwriting. Present and former members include Chelsea childhood mates 'Slaughter Joe' Joe Foster, one time best friend Ed Ball (early line-up, later briefly) and Jowe Head (ex-Swell Maps), with Jeffrey Bloom from 1983-94. The threesome of Treacy, Head, and Bloom formed the longest unchanged line-up and as a result is considered by many to be the definitive line-up, performing hundreds of gigs around the world and recording many of the band's most popular songs like How I Learned to Love the Bomb, Salvador Dali's Garden Party and Strangely Beautiful. Despite this, the Television Personalities are best known for their early single "Part Time Punks", a favourite of John Peel's.
