While the body is fit why should we not chant the holy name of the Lord loudly and distinctly? If one does so, it is quite possible that even at the time of death he will be properly able to chant the holy name of the Lord with love and faith. In conclusion, one who chants the holy name of the Lord constantly is guaranteed to return home, back to Godhead, without a doubt.

The influence of the modes of nature is very strong. The living entity entangled in different types of fruitive activity is like a silkworm trapped in a cocoon. Getting free is very difficult unless he is helped by the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

“The Supreme Lord is situated in everyone's heart, O Arjuna, and is directing the wanderings of all living entities, who are seated as on a machine, made of the material energy.” Yantra means a machine, such as an automobile. The driver of the machine of the body is the individual soul, who is also its director or proprietor, but the supreme proprietor is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. One's body is created through the agency of māyā (karmaṇā daiva-netreṇa), and according to one's activities in this life, another vehicle is created, again under the supervision of daivī māyā (daivī hy eṣā guṇa-mayī mama māyā duratyayā). At the appropriate time, one's next body is immediately chosen, and both the individual soul and the Supersoul transfer to that particular bodily machine. This is the process of transmigration.

One must render service to a Vaiṣṇava in order to get freed from sinful reactions, revive one's original Kṛṣṇa consciousness and be trained in how to love Kṛṣṇa. This is the result of mahātma-sevā. Of course, if one engages in the service of a pure devotee, the reactions of one's sinful life are vanquished automatically. Devotional service is necessary not to drive away an insignificant stock of sins, but to awaken our dormant love for Kṛṣṇa. As fog is vanquished at the first glimpse of sunlight, one's sinful reactions are automatically vanquished as soon as one begins serving a pure devotee; no separate endeavor is required.

The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Viṣṇu, is always the protector of His devotees, who are also known as demigods. The controlling demigods are most obedient to Lord Viṣṇu, although they also want material sense enjoyment, and that is why they are called demigods, or almost godly. Although Rāhu attempts to attack both the sun and the moon, they are protected by Lord Viṣṇu. Being very afraid of Lord Viṣṇu's cakra, Rāhu cannot stay in front of the sun or moon for more than a muhūrta (forty-eight minutes). The phenomenon that occurs when Rāhu blocks the light of the sun or moon is called an eclipse.

The post of Lord Brahmā is meant for very highly elevated, spiritually advanced living beings. When such living beings are unavailable, Lord Viṣṇu, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, expands Himself as Lord Brahmā. This takes place very rarely. Consequently there are two kinds of Brahmās. Sometimes Brahmā is an ordinary living entity, and at other times Brahmā is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. The Brahmā spoken of here is an ordinary living being. Whether Brahmā is the Supreme Personality of Godhead or an ordinary living being, he is known as Vairāja Brahmā and Hiraṇyagarbha Brahmā. Therefore the sun-god is also accepted as Vairāja Brahmā.

Although the demigods are situated in exalted positions in the heavenly planets, they nevertheless desire to descend to the land of Bhārata-varṣa on the planet earth. This indicates that even the demigods are unfit to reside in Bhārata-varṣa. Therefore if persons already born in Bhārata-varṣa live like cats and dogs, not taking full advantage of their birth in this land, they are certainly unfortunate.

Sometimes we see a picture of Lord Śiva engaged in meditation. This verse explains that Lord Śiva is always meditating upon Lord Saṅkarṣaṇa in trance. Lord Śiva is in charge of the destruction of the material world. Lord Brahmā creates the material world, Lord Viṣṇu maintains it, and Lord Śiva destroys it. Because destruction is in the mode of ignorance, Lord Śiva and his worshipable Deity, Saṅkarṣaṇa, are technically called tāmasī. Lord Śiva is the incarnation of tamo-guṇa. Since both Lord Śiva and Saṅkarṣaṇa are always enlightened and situated in the transcendental position, they have nothing to do with the modes of material nature — goodness, passion and ignorance — but because their activities involve them with the mode of ignorance, they are sometimes called tāmasī.

The earth over which Mahārāja Gaya ruled is compared to a cow. The good qualities whereby he maintained and ruled the citizens are compared to the calf. A cow delivers milk in the presence of her calf; similarly the cow, or earth, fulfilled the desires of Mahārāja Gaya, who was able to utilize all the resources of the earth to benefit his citizens. This was possible because he was bathed in sanctified water by the honest daughters of Dakṣa. Unless a king or ruler is blessed by authorities, he cannot rule the citizens very satisfactorily. Through the good qualities of the ruler, the citizens become very happy and well qualified.

The Supreme Lord gives all information in Bhagavad-gītā about the aim of life, and at the end of Bhagavad-gītā He demands surrender unto Him. People do not generally like this demand, but one who cultivates spiritual knowledge for many births eventually surrenders unto the lotus feet of the Lord

Hey there sparkly blue romance nerds, are you ready for an out-of-this-world discussion? No...literally. We're talking about sci-fi romance! Even better, we're talking in this episode about our favorite Kindle author (maybe one of our favorite authors out there?), Ruby Dixon and her alien romances series Ice Planet Barbarians and Ice Home! We're going to put on our spacesuits and jet out to the far side of an unknown galaxy to explore what a blue barbarian romance hero looks like, acts like, and whether or not this is worth the read. Spoiler alert, we say yes. We'll also discuss the issues that readers might have with the series, so please review the trigger warnings below!   TW: Discussions of rape and forced consent, dubious consent, abduction/kidnapping, and sex slaves and alien slave trade.   Terms Ice Home Spin off series of Ice Planet Barbarians (IPB), but also refers to the settlement where the spin-off characters live D-Class Earth is a D-Class planet in this universe, meaning that it is strictly forbidden for alien races to contact humans/land on earth/ etc. However, due to the rampant human slave trade, certain races are known to kidnap human women (especially) for the trade Sa-khui/modified-sakh The inhabitants of Not-Hoth and the heroes in the whole of Ice Planet Barbarians series. They are an alien species identified by having sweeping horns on their heads (like rams), long twitchy tails, four fingers and four toes, skin in varying shades of blue, and the males have a spur above their penis. They are also plated with natural body armor. The females of the species do not have a spur, and have smaller breasts than the human women, unless they're pregnant. They are "modified" sakh, because they are descended from the messakah species who crash landed on Not-Hoth eons ago, and in order to survive they took on the khui (a symbiotic parasite). Messakah/Sakh The species that the sa-khui are descended from. Have all similar physical features to the sa-khui, but they do not have the symbiotic khui. Other species of Sakh have evolved to live on Not-Hoth, as we learn in Ice Home. They are the: Tall Horn- identified by especially tall horns; can camouflage to match surroundings Shadow Cat- identified by excess body hair and fangs and talons; can camouflage to match surroundings Strong Arm- identified by having four arms and smaller horns; can camouflage to match surroundings Khui/cootie A symbiotic parasite native to Not-Hoth that all living creatures supposedly have. It lives in the chest and enables the being to survive the hypoxic atmosphere of Not-Hoth. It enables faster healing, maybe longer life, and allows you to stay warmer in the freezing atmosphere. It also enables resonance and makes it so that human women can bear alien babies. Resonance This is when two khuis in different creatures decide that their hosts are biological matches and best able to propagate their species. Resonance is identified by "purring" when the chests of the beings vibrate excessively, encouraging mating until offspring is conceived, ie. when "resonance is filled." Resonance mates A mating pair whose khuis have decided that they're the best match and best able to get pregnant. They are lifelong mates and can resonate multiple times. They are only able to get pregnant while actively resonating. Forcing resonance When resonance does not happen immediately, sometimes one character (usually the male) "takes" (kidnaps) the character they want to resonate with, in hopes that being in close proximity with no other competition around with force the khui to make a decision. Works about 90% of the time and there is usually a redemption arc in these cases Dubious Consent When consent for sexual actions is unknown or certain, and is not explicitly given. This is distinguished from forced consent/rape. Often, a character involved is uncertain about whether he or she wants to participate. Kit What the sa-khui/sakh/messakah call their offspring Not-Hoth The planet on which Ice Planet Barbarians/Ice Home takes place. Named by humans as it represents the planet Hoth in Star Wars' Empire Strikes Back Metlaks Creatures who inhabit Not-Hoth alongside the sa-khui and other native species. They look like yetis, according to the humans, and have dirty white fur and don't have a recognizable language. They may have some sign language, as learn in book IPB #7 Barbarian's Touch Jen and Jackie think that the metlaks are part of the evolutionary tree of the natives of the planet and related especially to the Shadow Cat Tribe Fated mates Can also be termed "soul mates," this is when two characters (usually in sci-fi or paranormal) are "destined" to be together and are each other's one true love. There can often be a lot of sexual tension between the two, as their bodies (or khuis, in this case) recognize that they need to get together, but the characters themselves can be reluctant to do so.   Ruby Dixon series Ice Planet Barbarians 18 books + novellas Takes place on Not-Hoth (frozen planet) and involves multiples romances between human women and sa-khui males (for the most part) Barbarian's Hope (IPB #10) is the story of a romance between two sa-khui Barbarian's Choice (IPB #11) is the story of a romance between a sa-khui female and a messakah male Ice Home 14 books + novellas Spin off from IPB, also takes place on Not-Hoth. We see some original characters, but each book is about a different romance between human females and alien males (not necessarily all sa-khui) We learn more about the planet and its inhabitants and geography You see characters/species from Corsairs, Risdaverse, and Fireblood Dragons Corsairs 4 books (for now) Somewhat a spinoff of IPB; involves romances between messakah/sakh and human females and all set on space ships IN SPACE (if you like Firefly/Star Trek you'll love this, I promise) Risdaverse 5 books + novellas Spin off from Corsairs; Takes place on a remote farm planet and involves the romances between human females who have escaped the sex slave trade and alien males. The more recent books in the series take place off-planet. FireBlood Dragons 8 books Post-apocalyptic earth where dragons have broken through a portal and decimated earth's population and culture. Surprise though, the dragons are all shapeshifters and very sexy! Involves the romance between humans and the dragons as they try to help the dragons figure out why earth is making them so aggressive and crazy. Aspect and Anchor 2 books (very long books) + novella Hyper-fantasy series that involves human women (so far) who have been anchored to gods during a godly battle for dominance. The women are anchors to these different gods so that the gods stay incarnate. In this way the sinful men are purified, but their sinful actions and reactions remain at the holy places of pilgrimage. Unless there is rationality, how can an animal maintain its body by working so hard? That the animals are not rational is untrue; their rationality, however, is not very advanced. In any case, we cannot deny them rationality. The point is that one should use one’s reason to understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead, for that is the perfection of human life.

Ramu has previously been a guest on Episode Number 29 of Season 1. He spoke about Stagelife Characters. Ramu is my go to person to understand tidbits about Indian Theatre. I am very curious to know, who were Tendulakar Sahab’s influencers? I am asking this because I was reading, Manus Navache Bait (Man is An Island), one of his first plays, was remarkable. People had never heard such dialogues before. Theatre at that time used very stylised acting and long sentences with very flowery language; it was distanced from reality. Something similar to which you spoke in the Episode 29 about Samuel Beckett and other playwrights trying to bring court room dramas to dining rooms. So do you have any insights what made him start this way? What was happening in from 1960 to 1990s that Tendulkar wanted to express his thoughts through violence; because according to my limited knowledge, he said, that he lived in a simple middle class family which was doing fine. What do you think; what made Vijay Tendulkar show violence to create awareness about violence, rather than showing something morally good or ethically sound? What is this style of showing real? Where does this form stem from? What was his trajectory of him expressing violence throughout his plays? Did it increase due to ongoing unrest or it decreased? From Gidhade to Kamala? Some of his plays were censored. What made him write so boldly in his new plays, despite being censored? What is the one thing which young generation playwrights should learn from Tendulkar and what is that one should avoid considering the current times? https://www.dnaindia.com/analysis/report-vijay-tendulkar-is-a-scathing-interpreter-of-maladies-4810 https://web.archive.org/web/20081201033510/http://www.indianexpress.com/res/web/pIe/ie/daily/19991020/ile20071.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTqj3GVs6bM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bF3GLjn1iI (Part 1 to 6) https://www.indiatoday.in/magazine/society-the-arts/story/19801231-vijay-tendulkar-indian-theatre-only-complete-philosopher-773665-2013-12-02

In this episode Kenneth Goudie is joined by Dr Mustafa Banister to talk about the historian he is studying, Ibn ʿArabshah (d. 1450). Ibn ʿArabshah was variously a litterateur, religious scholar, chancery scribe, and historian. Although he donned these many caps later in life, the young Ibn ‘Arabshāh would never be the same again after his hometown of Damascus was sacked and he was taken prisoner by Tamerlane in 1400. He devoted the next twenty-two years of his life to learning Islamic sciences and seeking out masters in the courts and capitals of pre-modern Muslim West Asia, before returning in 1422 to the lands under the control of the Cairo sultanate, ultimately settling in Damascus and trying to re-establish himself in existing social structures. He benefitted from a patronage relationship with the scholar ‘Alā’ al-Dīn al-Bukhārī who relocated to Damascus in 1429. After al-Bukhārī’s death in 1438, Ibn ‘Arabshāh focused on creating several works of literature and historiography that helped enhance his reputation. Frequent trips between Cairo and Damascus brought him into the orbit of other well-connected fifteenth century scholars among the civilian elite including Ibn Ḥajar, al-Maqrīzī, Ibn Taghrībirdī, and al-Sakhāwī. --- All music by Yadayn, from the track "Adem" https://yadayn.bandcamp.com/

Robert Kevin Jaques‘ work, Ibn Hajar: Makers of Islamic Civilization (I. B. Tauris, 2013), focuses on the life of one of the most eminent Muslim scholars, Ibn Ḥajar al-‘AsqalānÄ« (d. 852/1449). Jaques provides his readers with a concise yet intimate biography of this great scholar based on the accounts of his students, chiefly the al-Jawāhir of al-SakhāwÄ«, and works penned by Ibn Ḥajar himself. Beginning life as an orphan, Ibn Ḥajar rose to the most prominent academic position as the chief Shāfi‛ī judge of the Egyptian MamlÅ«k system. His accomplishment made all the more remarkable as he had to contest with countless political machinations and personal tragedies including the death of many of his children. While many of Ibn Ḥajar’s contemporary’s rose and fell due to their inability to successfully navigate the ever changing political landscape, Jaques ascribes Ibn Ḥajar’s longevity and lasting legacy to his enchanting personality, religious devotion, and inimitable acumen; qualities often ignored or downplayed by social historians studying the political intrigues of MamlÅ«k society. Jaques discusses the significance of Ibn Ḥajar’s historical and biographical texts, such as the Inbā’ al-ghumr bi-anbā’ al-‘umr and al-Durar al-kāmina, but he devotes much time to Ibn Ḥajar’s massive commentary on al-BukhārÄ«’s Ṣāḥīḥ, Fatḥ al-bārÄ«. The study of ḥadÄ«th became Ibn Ḥajar’s way to combat personal losses and the constant threat of plague; phenomena which he believed were not occasions of Divine retribution for the transgressions of the community.
