When I was a new mom, I wanted to be a supermom like the ones portrayed in the media- 10 hands and doing something different and supposedly productive with each of them. I found it powerful without realizing that it was actually stressing me out. Realistically koi bhi itni sari cheezen ek time pe nahi kar sakta hai- bachche ka dhyan rakho, khana banao, ghar dekho, family ka dhyan rakho, relax karo, workout karo aur phir jab bachcha bada ho jaye to uske school se leke after school activities dekho aur baki sab to karna hi hai. Oh and if you have a job besides all of this unpaid work, consider the load doubled. Hume lagta hai ki wah humare paas to superpower hai hum sab kar lenge par isse hota hai burnout, stress and lots of other mental and physical health issues. This is one of those discussions that never gets old and when done right provides good takeaways. I am discussing all of this with author Bhakti Mathur. If you are an Indian mother, you are probably familiar with Bhakti Mathur's Amma tell Me series. It's a series of children's picture books about Indian festivals and mythology. After a long stint as a banker, she now juggles her time between her writing, her passion for yoga and long-distance running, and her family. She lives in Hong Kong with her husband, their two children and two dogs. She is also the author of Amma, Take Me Series. The latest addition to the series is Amma, Take Me to the Hill Forts of Rajasthan which my daughter loved and so did I.In this episode, Bhakti and I talk about the idea of a good mother, mom-guilt, equal marriage, mental load and how to overcome the overwhelm of it all.Help me bring more such conversations to you, please follow Little Fixes on your podcast app, rate us and share with your mom-friends.Connect with Bhakti Mathur- https://www.instagram.com/bhaktimathur98/Episode Webpage- https://littlefixescollective.com/192/Use my special link https://zencastr.com/?via=maitri to save 30% off your first month of any Zencastr paid plan.Support the Podcast- https://www.buymeacoffee.com/maitrivermaConnect with @littlefixespodcast on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/littlefixespodcast/ Email me- littlefixespodcast@gmail.comDisclaimer- This podcast is only for educational and entertainment purposes. Śrī Īśopaniṣad, everyone knows the verse, 'vāyur anilam amṛtam, athedaṁ bhasmāntaṁ śarīram, oṁ krato smara kṛtaṁ smara, krato smara kṛtaṁ smara (mantra 17).' Let this temporary body be burned to ashes. Let the air of life be merged with the totality of air. Now, my Lord, please remember all my sacrifices, and because You are the ultimate beneficiary, please remember all that I have done for You. And in his purport, Prabhupāda says you don't have to remind the Lord; He knows what you've done for Him. And one of the things you can do for Him is come to His hometown. There are verses in the Bṛhat-bhāgavatāmṛta—they're so touching, about coming to the Dhāma. Those who come to the region of the district of Mathurā and just visit there, Kṛṣṇa takes it personally. "He came to My hometown!" After all, how does it feel if somebody went to your hometown? If somebody hears I'm from Coimbatore, and they say, "Coimbatore!" And they go, "Coimbatore!" Who said Coimbatore? I'm from Coimbatore! So Kṛṣṇa appreciates. In fact, there's a verse that Prabhupāda quotes in the next devotion, that Rūpa Gosvāmī obviously quotes, saying somebody comes to the district of Mathurā during Kārtika, even if they're not very serious. But if they're serious enough, or lucky enough, to get on the train and get there for Kārtika, and they just hang around, maybe offer a lamp, He said, then Kṛṣṇa takes that personally. Avoid The Jarāsandha Effect & Take The Responsibility to Chant | HG Vaiśeṣika Dāsa | 22 Jan 2022

Sound Bhakti

Japa is one of those times because we have to self-examine and see how we're chanting. There are plenty of opportunities to examine ourselves in chanting japa, just to see what is the intensity, are we finishing at an appropriate time, and so forth. By taking that responsibility then, we can develop spiritual strength. There are various obstacles to that. One of them is if we are lending our ear to those who don't consider it very important, then we can be dissuaded from taking it seriously. That's why Caitanya Mahāprabhu said that we have to regularly hear about the importance of completing the practice in order to stay serious about it. There's a phenomenon which I like to call 'The Jarāsandha effect', that goes like this: Just like Jarāsandha came to Mathurā and was totally defeated by Kṛṣṇa and Balārama. His armies were slaughtered 17 times, rivers of blood were flowing, every one of his soldiers was annihilated. But every time he walked away, Jarāsandha's ministers told him that his losing the battle was a fluke and he should go back and try again. So the same thing happens. These same kinds of words come in a regular stream from those who are attached to the material world that just keep saying, "You'll be victorious next time." We have to constantly hear the sambandha-jñāna from Kṛṣṇain the Bhagavad-gītā, who assures us that this material world is not our home and that there's only one shelter—take shelter of Kṛṣṇa. That's why He says in the Gītā, "sarva-dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja," just categorically forget the material world as a place of shelter and take shelter in Me. So it's our responsibility to take advantage of Japa, its self-examination. Of all these devotees, the gopīs are recognized as superior because they do not know anything other than satisfying Kṛṣṇa. Nor do the gopīs expect any return from Kṛṣṇa. Indeed, sometimes Kṛṣṇa puts them into extreme suffering by separating Himself from them. Nonetheless, they cannot forget Kṛṣṇa. When Kṛṣṇa left Vṛndāvana for Mathurā, the gopīs became most dejected and spent the rest of their lives simply crying in separation from Kṛṣṇa. This means that in one sense they were never actually separated from Kṛṣṇa. There is no difference between thinking of Kṛṣṇa and associating with Him. Rather, vipralambha-sevā, thinking of Kṛṣṇa in separation, as Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu did, is far better than serving Kṛṣṇa directly. Thus of all the devotees who have developed unalloyed devotional love for Kṛṣṇa, the gopīs are most exalted, and out of all these exalted gopīs, Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī is the highest. No one can excel the devotional service of Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī. Indeed, even Kṛṣṇa cannot understand the attitude of Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī; therefore He took Her position and appeared as Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, just to understand Her transcendental feelings. If you or a loved one is on the Autism spectrum, or if you have been curious about this condition, then you're about to learn some fascinating things about this often-misunderstood diagnosis.  On our Love University podcast, we had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Sneha Mathur, autism expert, as she enlightened us on the truth about those who are classified as being on the “spectrum.”  Sneha talks with Dr. Avila about the natural diversity and creative potential that these unique individuals may possess. Although a number of them can have challenges in social and behavioral areas, they may also exhibit great qualities of creativity, intense focus, loyalty, the ability to detect patterns, and passionate productivity. According to Sneha, what was once viewed as a severe mental disorder can be reconceptualized in a more positive way that respects the abilities and contributions of these extraordinary people.
